Navigators bids farewell
Discovery Channel isn’t the only team bidding farewell at the Tour of Missouri.
The Navigators Insurance Pro Cycling team also is closing shop after this season. Well, maybe not completely. But after a 14-year run, Navigators Insurance is dropping the longest sponsorship deal in American cycling, and riders already have started to be absorbed by other teams.
âIt’s disappointing and sad,” said team managing director Edward Beamon, who has been with the team since its inception. âWe’re trying to keep something together.”
In addition, the two groups that make up the Kodak Gallery-Sierra Nevada squad are dissolving their relationship, potentially creating two teams. However, one of the teams is currently without a sponsor, as Kodak-Gallery has dropped its sponsorship.
