Dopers (stink)

Saint Louis Post-Dispatch

10_dopers_12252007

OK, I should have  written “Dopers Suck” in the headline for this blog, just as it appears on my new cycling socks (the same type members of Slipstream-Chipotle wore at the Tour of Missouri, above), but something about my old-school newspaper sensibility keeps me from putting “sucks” in a headline.

That said, I’m proud of the “Dopers Suck” socks that Son of 10 Speed gave me for Christmas. The socks will be a nice contrast to my Phonak (Floyd Landis) and Liberty Seguros (Operacion Puerto) cycling shorts that I bought on sale.

(Actually, I bought the Phonak shorts because I think the French lab messed up Floyd Landis’ testing.  I read the entirety of the majority and minority arbitration rulings against him, and I cannot say for certain whether the correct samples were tested let alone something as serious as his innocence or guilt).

Dopers Suck is the brainchild of the Boulder Cycle Sport, as a commentary about the scandals that have plagued cycling over the past 10-15 years.

Landis got a raw deal.

And somebody should shove a pair of “Dopers Suck” socks into Greg Lemond’s mouth. Lemond is a bitter has-been who needs to stop mouthing off about who is guilty and who isn’t.
