10 Speed receives e-mails from some of the online bike retailers and was intrigued by one shop’s advertizement for HUDZ, a totally unnecessary product but one that can splash a little color on your road ride.

HUDZ is the brandname for multi-color hoods that replace stock hoods on brake levers/shifters. The component manufacturers make perfectly acceptable hoods, but the only color is black and HUDZ offers eight colors, including the basic black — which is odd because why would you want black to replace black? Oh wait, I know, these are supposed to be better ergonomically. Whatever.

You also can customized HUDZ for your cool bike posse — different colors, imprints, logos, that kind of stuff.

Some of the STL bike shops carry HUDZ, and 10 Speed always advises to check out (re: support) the local guys first before goin’ all webshopping.

If anyone out there has HUDZ, pictures please, and is there really any difference in feel?
