Just checked the letleviride.com online petition to “Save the Tour de France” and saw the odometer roll ovcr 10,000.

Leipheimer, the U.S. national road racing champion, finished third in the Tour de France for the Discovery Channel Cycling team, and he now races for Astana, which has been banned by the TdF organizing committee for past doping infractions — even though Astana’s old management was completely swept out and the new management under former Discovery Channel guru Johan Bruyneel has instituted strict anti-doping controls.

Astana is the only UCI Pro Tour cycling team barred from the Tour, even though several other teams have been tarnished by doping in the past and have taken similar steps like Astana to clean up the sport.

I wonder how long it’ll take before the “traditional” media picks up on this petition.
