Velonews.com reports that Trek is severing ties with Greg LeMond and will quit making LeMond brand bicycles.
Uh, oh.
On the downside, this probably means lawsuits, counter lawsuits, accusations, innuendo and general nastiness between LeMond and Trek, and perhaps between LeMond and Lance Armstrong. Read the Velonews account, and you’ll see where this is going.
On the upside, for cycling consumers, this means you’ll see steep discounts of LeMonds down the road as bike shops strive to dump inventory. So, if you’re looking into buying a road bike and suffering sticker shock, you’ll probably be able to get a deal on a pretty good bicycle.
Ol’ 10 Speed rides a 2002 model LeMond Zurich, steel frame, full Ultegra, and it is one sweet ride. The newer models are either aluminum, carbon, a combination of both.
