With a headline like that, we start with the Tour of Flanders.

– Belgium national champion Stijn Devolder of U.S. sponsored Quick Step won the epic Tour of Flanders on Sunday, attacking th 26km remaining and winning the 264km ride by 15 seconds over Cofidis’ Nick Nuyens of Cofidis and Rabobank’s Juan Antonio Flecha. Defending champ Alessandro Ballan of Lampre nosed out Big George Hincapie of High Road in the chase group’s srint to the line for  fourth place.

Devolder is a former teammate of Hincapie on the U.S. Postal/Discovery Channel teams, and the weather conditions Sunday were reminiscent of the U.S. Postal Service slogan — “Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds.” For cycling’s spring classics, it could be “”Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the cyclist from their appointed classics.”

– Speaking of classics, The Redlands Classic in the U.S. went to Santiago Botero of Rock Racing, which protected Botero’s 54-second lead over Toyota-United’s Chris Baldwin through the final 91-mile final stage.

“Our victory here is undeniably positive for cycling,” Rock Racing’s team release quoted owner Michael Ball as saying. “What we did this weekend and what we have tried to do as a brand and as a team is good for the sport and even better for the fans.”

– The Dogwood Road Race was held Saturday for area racers, but alas, ol’ 10 Speed hasn’t found the results online. Are they out there?
