Ride of Silence set for Wednesday
Dave Luecking
Saint Louis Post-Dispatch

The Ride of Silence, in honor of cyclists killed or injured on public roadways, will be held locally at 7 p.m. Wednesday, starting at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.

The 8-mile route will go through Clayton and U. City before returning to Forest Park. Participants are asked to wear black in mourning for lost cyclists (or red for those injured by motorists), to remain silent and communicate with hand signals throughout the ride, and to ride no faster than 12 miles per hour.

With a couple of hit-and-runs in our area this year, motorist angst related to the Highway 40 shutdown, plus the benefit Gerry Frierdich Road to Recovery Bicycle Ride on Sunday June 1 in Belleville, Ill, cyclists in the St. Louis area have many reasons to participate in this year’s Ride of Silence.
