Bless your ride
Ol’ 10 Speed’s dearly departed Mom used to tape a sliver of Palm Sunday palm, shaped like a cross, onto my old 1o speed back in the day.
She wanted to keep her baby safe, you know, and it might have worked. My only crash on the now vintage Raleigh was minor, and I ended up without a scratch.
Sooo, count me as a believer, and along those lines, there’s an event Saturday for those who believe a higher power is responsible for the “light in your eyes,” as Missouri’s own Ms. Sheryl Crow might say.
It’s the “First Annual Bless Your Bike & Dutchtown Bike Tour” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, starting at St. Anthony of Padua Church (3140 Meramec) . The blessing of the bikes, roller blades, skateboards, etc., will be at 10:15 a.m. Urban Eats Cafe, down the street at 3301 Meramec, will provide the ride maps and will offer gift certificates to the first 50 riders.
