Levi Leipheimer, Big George Hincapie, Christian Vande Velde, David Zabriskie and Jason McCartney will represent the United States next month at the Olympics in Beijing.
Leipheimer qualified as the result of his third-place finish last year at the Tour de France. Hincapie, Vande Velde, Zabriskie and McCartney were discretionary picks. Big George will appear in his fifth Olympics games, a record.
All five will compete in the Olympics road race, while Leipheimer and U.S. national time trial champ Zabriskie will be The U.S.’s reps in the time trial.
Kristin Armstrong, runner-up in the time trial at the 2007 World Championships, will be the sole representative on the women’s team.
Other U.S. names to watch includ young phenom Taylor Phinney, world championship medalists Sarah Hammer and Jennie Reed in track, and Todd Wells and Georgia Gould in mountain biking.
