Credit Agricole may be history
Cyclingnews.com reports that the Credit Agricole team has given its riders the go-ahead to sign elsewhere as the team faces an uncertain future.
Credit Agricole is ending its sponsorship at the end of the season, and team management was unable to secure new sponsorship for next season by its self-imposed deadline of today, Aug. 1. The search for a sponsor continues, and several of the team’s top riders, including Thor Hushovd, say they’ll give the team another two weeks before seriously looking elsewhere.
Gerolsteiner, which had a big performance at the Tour de France with two TT wins by Stefan Schumacher and Bernhard Kohl’s third-place finish, also is in search of a new sponsor for next season. Kohl already is being recruited by Quick Step-Innergetic.
