Further evidence that Tour of Missouri has stepped up in class
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The Versus two-hour special was narrated by Phil Liggett!!!
The silver-tongued commenTAtor graced the Tour of Missouri with his presence, at least on videotape. He still can’t pronounce Francesco Chicchi’s last name either correctly or consistently (It’s CHEE-kee),and he didn’t mention any pedals being turned in anger or pelotons getting twitchy. But Phil makes the Tour de France worth watching. Same for Missouri, working with Dave Towle.
The replay is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Versus and Tour of Missouri web sites.

Phil is certainly prone to mispronunciation but, in the case of Mr. Chicchi, he is correct. In Italian CHI is pronounced key and CHE is pronounced kay. As an example, consider that chianti wine is pronounced with the hard K sound. The CI letter combination is pronounced like CHEE. Ciclismo is CHEEcleesmo.
