Both winner Mark Cavendish and second-place finisher Tyler Farrar described the finish of Stage 1 as hectic. It was for the sportwriters as well. But the beginning was quite relaxed. Here are a few happy faces from the start line in St. Joseph. Above, Cavendish (left), Dave Zabriskie of Garmin-Chipotle and George Hincapie look ready for a Sunday ride. Below, Christian VandeVelde of Garmin seems relieved that Versus’ Robbie Ventura isn’t following him around.
