Late roster changes for Tour of Missouri
We noticed a few interesting changes from the original start list issued last week and the official list on the Tour of Missouri web site. Among them:
Garmin has subbed Tom Danielson for Will Frischkorn, who finished second overall here last year and was second on Stage 3 of the Tour de France.
Liquigas will start with just six riders, instead of eight. Valerio Agnoli and Dario Cataldo don’t appear on the updated list. Starting with just six riders will make it more difficult for the Italians to set up a stage for their sprinter, Francesco Chicchi, a genuine threat to Mark Cavendish and Ivan Dominguez.
Zach Bell is out for Symmetrics, a team from Canada. Bell finished second in the opening stage last year, and Symmetrics will start with seven riders.
Ivan Stevic, a former world champion, has been replaced on the Toyota-United roster by Henk Vogels.
St. Louisan Michael Lange, a graduate of Parkway West, was on the original roster for Jelly Belly but is not on the revised list. He was replaced by Bryce Mead. We’ll get an update at the start in St. Joe.
