Kohl admits he doped at the Tour de France
Dave Luecking
Saint Louis Post-Dispatch

There will be no B-sample testing re: Bernhard Kohl’s positive for CERA. Kohl admitted Wednesday that he used the drug in the 2008 Tour de France and that he’ll take whatever punishment is coming to him.

Under UCI rules, that would be a two-year suspension from cycling, on top of his third-place finish and King of the Mountain title from the 2008 TdF being erased from the record books, on top of being fired before even starting a three-year contract with Silence-Lotto, and on top of disappointing people within his old team and cycling in general.

But on the bright side, he fessed up and told the truth, which is the first step in rehabilitating himself and hopefully earning redemption down the road.

Dude’s still young, just 26, and he’ll be 28 when he’s next allowed to turn the pedals in anger, so he has some time to think about what he’s done and what he wants to do with his life and how he wants to be remembered. He should ring David Millar for guidance.
