The twitter site of Astana director Johan Bruyneel brings updates of Lance Armstrong’s crash in the first stage of the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon. In addition to a picture of his latest bottle of wine, Bruyneel has posted updates from Lance all day on his first-even broken collarbone.
Lance seems bummed. He reports that he suffered a clean break, which is good. Recovery time is usually less, so he probably will still start the Giro d’Italia in early May. He’ll have a tough time being at the top of his form, though.
Cycling news reports that Armstrong was in the main group with about 20 kilometers to go, riding in pursuit of the four-man escape. He came down with a group of around 30 riders.
The race was supposed to be the first together for Armstrong and his teammate and rival Alberto Contador, who won the Tour de France in 2007. The showdown will have to wait.
