NY Post cartoon was topic of online chat

The flap over the New York Post’s cartoon depicting a police officer who has just shot a chimp and another saying, “they’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill” is big, and not just on this blog (see posting below).
There’s a column about the cartoon on Poynter.org, a journalism website, and it has a transcript of a chat today with the president of the national editorial cartoonists association and a media critic for the St. Petersburg Times.

The cartoon was not about Mr. Obama. The cartoon shows two police officers who shot a chimpanzee that they claimed wrote the stimulus bill. Presidents do not write bills. Plain and simple. Congress writes bills. Had the cartoonist said they’ll need to find someone else to SIGN the next stimulus bill, then you could argue it was about Mr. Obama.
Please learn something about our US Constitution before claiming absurd facts that are not present.
When we allow the uneducated to play the race, we are truly a nation of cowards. We must all stand for justice, and false accusations by the uneducated must be condemned by all.

And you DO NOT appear to have a basic understanding of reality concerning our politics in America. Don’t tell me that you do not have the basis understanding of the FACT that any bill signed into law by any President, regardless of Congress being the one who wrote it, OWNS IT AND IT BECOMES HIS BABY and is no different than if he had actually wrote it himself and especially concerning this particular Bill because Obama did provide some guidelines for what he wanted included in the Stimulus Bill.
Yes this Bill will always be considered Obama’s Bill and rightfully so.
Now, is it really possible that you are truly ignorant of this fact or, is it that you are just attempting to manipulate us all with disingenuous arguments and pretenses, not to mention insults upon one’s intellect even though you don’t consider us who recognize this as racist as having an intellect. (Lol).
By the way, if the monkey represented Congress shouldn’t there have been more than one monkey represented? Now who is it that you are calling uneducated? Again. (Lol).
