Black man kissing white woman causes stir

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

On the cover of today’s Go! magazine, a regular section of Friday’s Post-Dispatch,  there is a photo of a couple kissing to go along with the story “The 7 Best Places To Smooch”.  The story hasn’t generated a ton of buzz, but the photo has. Why? Because the man is black and the woman is white. The reader comments at the end of the online version clearly showed us that at least some folks out there are not comfortable with interracial relationships.

April 10's GO! cover of an interracial couple kissing generated unapproving comments from some readers.

The April 10 GO! cover generated disapproving story comments from some Post-Dispatch readers.

Here are a couple of examples:

From 1buschstadiumplz: “Haven’t read the story but dont like to see blacks and whites kissing;”

From taxpayer came this remark: ”This doesn’t surprise me at all. Libs take every opportunity they can to shove miscegnation in our faces. Now that TV has to show blacks in every commercial, notice that they are always posed beside a blonde woman. Not a brunette, a blonde. Its done for shock value. Sickening that a once proud newspaper would resort ot this. Joe Pulitzer is turning over in his grave in shame.”

Reader greggh tried a middle-of-the-road approach:  “I’m not judging the concept of biracial couples at all, but in a city as racially polarized as St. Louis, I’m shocked that the PD would go so out of its way to be so gratuitously provacative. This completely undercut the message of the article.”
Other readers were disturbed by the negative comments including dwilliams, who wrote:
“You people make me sick! What a disgustingly racist community we live in. My husband is black, I am white, we have beautiful children and we are both educated. We teach our children tolerance and acceptance of others, even the meth smoking, trailer park rednecks portrayed in these comments. Keep your nastiness to yourself!”
We have deleted some of the comments that included offensive language because that is not appropriate or tolerated on the P-D blogs and we decided to limit comments on the photo to this blog.
I did some asking around in the newsroom about the decision to use the photo. Turns out that the couple is a real couple. The creative director of Go! knows the couple and asked them if they would pose for the story.
Quick research tells me that 7 percent of married couples are interracial and those numbers are growing as the minority groups in this country continue to grow. Tiger Woods, Halle Barry, Derek Jeter and President Barack Obama are all products of interracial parents.
It’s been almost 42 years since the U.S. Supreme Court knocked down a law barring interracial marriage. But today, at least in St. Louis, it seems to remain a touchy subject.

I can’t believe that it is 2009 and people who read the Post have a problem with people of different colored skin kissing. Get over it.

So, on this acceptance topic: I am supposed to accept that some people choose to have interracial relationships. That is fine with me, do what you want. However, I choose to think it is not something I would expose myself to. The PD is a public news media, just like television. Why does this have to be shoved down my throat? Why isn’t everyone else supposed to accept my opinion on the matter? I am not supposed to do, say or show pictures of things that offend you, but why can you say, do and show pictures of things that offend me? Can someone please come up with an intelligent answer?

Next year it will be two people of the same sex. Not that there’s anything wrong with that….

In addition, if there were a picture of a guy with a bloody deer carcus he had just processed to feed his family, it would offend PETA supporters. If there were a picture of an all white baseball league supported by the KKK we know that would offend many people. If it were a picture of 2 men kissing, that would offend some people. If it were a picture of a pickup truck with confederate flags painted on it, it would offend some people. I just don’t understand why it is ok to offend one group of people and not another. I believe people should just let people live and do what they want. That includes allowing me my beliefs and feelings. The only reason I raise issue with this is because people are always raising issue with my beliefs.

— John

Well, John, I think the issue for some people is simply this: Why is it distasteful to see an interracial couple kissing? It is simply unfathomable to some people why that would be in any way akin to a “bloody deer carcus.”

It’s what happens when you let your message boards and comment threads be taken over by a bunch of right wing freaks.

The decision to not moderate comments at the site is a welcome mat for loons and the extreme. Today is a natural outgrowth of that.

The simple fact is that interracial couples aren’t controversial, but because St. Louis Today gives these people a forum, it gets overrun with their ignorance.

As a 23 year old I am completely blown away that people are still looking at each other’s skin color in a negative light. I would hope that by the time we have desegregated schools and elected Barack Obama as president that we could get over two people of different races kissing. Kissing, of course, not being destructive or harmful to anyone else.

Furthermore, the two pictured on that cover are awesome people who contribute a lot to the St. Louis community and I hate that they get to read your negative comments about them. And I highly doubt an article named, “The 7 Best Places to Smooch” was suppose to bring up the topic of interracial dating. For some of us, it would have never crossed our minds that people would be disturbed by that picture. I, for one, am not and think it is none of my business who other people are dating as long as they’re happy. Clearly, those two are.

12:18 pm April 10th, 2009

Ok, Kurt, why would a pickup with a Confederate flag offend anyone? Its unfathomable to me why anyone would object to a display of this honored representation of a noble cause, Americas second War of Independence. Touche’

Ok, enough about the interacial stuff. Persoannly, i don’t see anything wrong with it.
What I DO want to know is..where are the best places to smooch?!

12:21 pm April 10th, 2009

When I saw the picture, I thought the kiss looked genuine and I just found out they are a real couple. How nice. They look like a happy couple, good for them. Too bad for the people who think the world should only behave in the way they think is best.

I would like to express my support for this photo. It reflects a real couple in St. Louis. People are what they are and they found love, no matter their skin color. If you don’t like it, don’t read the paper. You just lose out on the story content.

St. Louis is one of the most racist and narrow-minded cities in the U.S. I can’t believe the P-D innocently thought this photo wouldn’t offend anyone.

One of the pastors here told me about how churches worked hard towards racial harmony. I pointed out that the churches in this area are more segregated than the strip clubs. He really didn’t have an answer to that.

12:33 pm April 10th, 2009

I’m greggh, and I in no way took a middle of the road approach, as you state. On the subject of interracial marriage and dating, I am strictly live and let live. However, Ive been around St. Louis long enough to know that this picture would cause much consternation, and wonder if the P-D deliberately tried to provoke a segment of its readership. You had to know what the reaction would be. And it was counterproductive to the article in that it far overshadowed the content of the piece itself.

— greggh
12:34 pm April 10th, 2009

why is anyone surprised at racist reactions to bk man/w woman kissing (would they object to other way around?)? remember that Missouri was second last state to repeal anti-miscegnation law after Supreme Court ruling in Loving vs Va.
as for taxpayer–what is “noble” about a ‘life style”? (confederacy) that depends on exploiting, torturing, raping, etc a whole race of people for selfish, lazy, greedy, bigoted reasons, and to revolt against a legitimate gov’t, killing millions of people?

The headline of the blogpost reads “Black man kissing white woman causes stir” Umm…I saw the picture and thought it was a white woman kissing the black man. And I say “You go, girl!”

— suzyjax

When I saw the picture I knew that it would ruffle the feathers of all those racists in denial that they are indeed racist, what else do they think cause such discomfort within them, that disturbed feeling that they have because someone of different races are kissing.

These people don’t even have the good sense to see, if they don’t have this same emotion or reaction when two people of the same race are kissing on a cover then they are racists, no doubt about it. I Love this, it certainly exposes the truth to people of what they are.

Now remember their isn’t anything in scripture where it is immoral being any race Anglo-White, Black or other and all unions were based on being equally yoked by religion Judeo-Christian and not according to race.

Also lets not forget that when Jews were God’s only accepted people that God found, Moses’ marriage to a Black (Cushite) woman from Cush a part of Ethiopia whose name was Zipporah acceptable as a wife to Moses. Moses being married to a Black woman is also very hard for people to accept even this very day being also unwilling to admit that they are racist.

http://www.kol-ami.org/rabbi/archive/2006/06/parshat_behalot_1.html

Even Christian Pastors such as John Hagee are in denial of their truly racist hearts. The interracial union of Moses drives Hagee nuts and I have witnesses this fact during one of his sermons on television during the time he was raging continuously about the Middle East and marketing his book titled “Countdown to Jerusalem” and telling his flock and audience that we should bomb Iran to east Jesus.

12:36 pm April 10th, 2009

I believe the P-D knew very well what the outcome would be of posting such a picture. Guess what the topic is on “Conversation about Race?”

Mr. Greenbaum, whether you like it or not some people are still not comfortable with interracial relationships. In St. Louis this group happens to include many black women. I hear black women express this opinion quite openly; white males, on the other hand, may whisper it occasionally with one eye glancing over the shoulder.

12:39 pm April 10th, 2009

I too am surprised and saddened that so many people were shocked by this picture. I think it’s pretty much the norm to see inter-racial couples. I am disgusted by the racially charged remarks but also find dwilliams response to those remarks just as bad. She didn’t let her education shine through. She instead stooped to the same level of those she was so disgusted with.

We are the human race, friends, and it is the 21st century. We are smarter than to be so close-minded. For those who continue to feel offended by other cultures, ethnicities, religions and mores, you are free to have your beliefs but I fear you will soon find yourself very much alone and without anything to watch or read if you shun all media.

It should be two men kissing because those are the morals that the media wants the public to adopt and if you’re offended, the liberals tell you it’s because only their morals matter and what you want doesn’t matter because they’re in control and you’re a mentally unstable hater.

12:55 pm April 10th, 2009

Wasn’t there just (yes, there was) one of the interracial success stories highlighted in the media where the black man stalked his white wife for years, consistently beat her and brutalized her until last week when he slashed her throat while they were in the car together, all the while a child was in the backseat and sat watching the entire brutal murder?

— Wasn't there
12:56 pm April 10th, 2009

Anyone who lives in St. Louis knows there is still lots of racism out there. Having a black man kiss a white woman shouldn’t bother anyone unless its their wife/husband or girlfriend/boyfriend that’s doing the kissing.

Greg Sendelbach- the “noble cause” was the defense of their homeland against the invasion from the North, and the war did not kill millions; both sides lost approximately 300,000 dead. You might want to brush up on your American history. As far as your remarks on slavery, you could make an equally effective case that the slaves were much better off in the South than they would have been in their homeland. They were sold into slavery by their own people in Africa. As an agrarian asset, it would have made little sense to mistreat slaves, just as a farmer today would not mistreat his livestock.

Just as I thought. So far, no one has addressed my question. One person got irate and attacked confederates. Many posters are explaining why I should accept their view. I thought this was to be a forum for debate. There is no debating here. People like to make assumptions about others and attack. I merely pose the question as to why we can offend one group but cannot offend another. I would also believe that there is not as much acceptance as one would believe. Society has become scared to death to voice their “real” opinion for fear of law suits, defamation and personnal attacks. I am completely sick of all of the politically correct garbage. Speak your mind and be convicted in your beliefs, I always say.

1:03 pm April 10th, 2009

Well John, don’t you think your comment just offended someone? The photo offends you and you’re saying the Post shouldn’t publish it, what if a white man and a white woman kissing offends me. Just because you think that is the norm, it is not the norm for everyone. Things offend people on different levels and sometimes the person being offended just needs to move on to the next thing. Isn’t life to short to worry about petty things?

1:05 pm April 10th, 2009

I don’t mind interracial couples at all. If two people love each other and treat each other with kindness and respect, who cares? However, I KNEW as soon as I saw the picture there would be negative comments and I agree with the other posters that the Post Dispatch had to know what kind of reaction that picture would cause. Please don’t play innocent. It is an insult to our intelligence.

— FTPD
1:05 pm April 10th, 2009

i think the picture is absolutely beautiful.
it is not a black man and a white woman kissing.
it is two HUMAN BEINGS, sharing a special intimate moment.
i’d say take the blinders off to all of you with negative feedback, except i think you should put the blindfolds back on. if color is that big of an issue for you, then you shouldn’t be able to enjoy it. any of it. to the couple, keep pressing on. i’m sure this is not the first experience they have had to deal with, good for you two. PD-hats off. to the rest of you, ridiculous.

john,
No one is answering your second post because you stated your racism in your first post when you proclaimed that you didn’t want it “shoved down your throat”. I could see if you said PDA in any form is unacceptable, your only problem seems to be with the interracial aspect.

So, to those of you who think this is wrong… do you also think that adopting a child of another race is wrong? I have a neice from Guatemala and to see her dark hair and dark skin next to my blonde, fair skinned sister-in-law is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen.
I am shocked and appalled that someone takes offense to something as beautfiul as this…

If you think that some of the comments were horrible, you should read what people say on the blogs that appear everyday. I am not surprised at the comments made, these comments probably were from people who like to fake the funk and say, “I have friends of other races , I’m not a racist.” You are never going to please people any, some, or none of the time.

— suzyjax **** see, you make assumptions, my point proven. I have friends who are interracial couples. Is it because they are black or white? No, it is because they are good poeple that they are my friends. The shoved down my throat comment is in reference to the media and their support of some causes and lack therof for others. The media is trying to force acceptance of one view while squashing another. I like to word my comments so as to get emotional responses at times. I find it humorous how quick some people will pounce. I am possible on of the most diverse people you would ever meet based on my acquaintences and activities I enjoy. I can dine with a group of Doctors (which I do frequently. Wife is in the medical field) of I can go camping and hunting with some good old southern boys (do that too). I can enjoy a fine play or a sensless comedy at the movies. I love how people just jump to their assumptions. So, that said, are your assumptions of not the same as the comments about the picture? Let us think on that for a moment.

John:

Your comments do offend me. I think it is perfectly fine to be offended by interracial couples. Here in Hawaii, white tourists from Missouri and many other places make nasty comments about local interracial couples and their children (many of whom are high academic and professional achievers unlike the purebred folks I have seen down south). However, I do respect your views. I only hope that you will respect my view that you are a racist, period. As you say everyone has their views!

@taxpayer: All due respect, you didn’t answer my question.

— George
1:25 pm April 10th, 2009

John, since you would like someone to address your question, I thought I’d give it a try. In regards to why certain pictures that could be offensive to people are included in the PD others are not, I think that you are merely considering this picture as an example (because it offends you) and not other photos on the PD website, because those other photos don’t offend you. For example, there is a photo supporting an article about Good Friday that is currently on the main page of a person dressed like Jesus carrying a cross. Now personally, that is not something I care about or believe in, but its all about what you let yourself make of it. No one is forcing you to ogle the kissing photo and make a big to-do of it, just like no one is forcing me to fixate on the religious picture. You claim that things “have to be shoved down your throat” but just because something is present (i.e. this picture) it doesn’t mean you have to involve yourself with it. Breeze by and move on to the next story. If you don’t like something on TV, do you still watch it? No, because you have the freedom to flip channels. You say that you believe that people should just let people live and do what they want, but you are arguing against this photo of two people, doing and living how they want. If you want people to respect your beliefs, you need to return that respect.

===Archpundit: I’d rather hear the discussion than pretend it doesn’t exist.

It’s not pretending it the discussion isn’t taking place. It’s not giving hate a consistent forum. There’s nothing out of the ordinary in the comments to the original article that doesn’t show up daily in the forums and neither the comments in the forums or to the article represent reality.

You don’t have a discussion going on that adds anything to the civic culture of Saint Louis. You have a discussion between screaming people who destroy any reasonable conversation.

There are plenty of places for people to spew this garbage–the St. Louis Council of Conservative Citizens is an excellent example. The question is why do you want stltoday.com to be like their blog.

— archpundit
1:42 pm April 10th, 2009

I can’t believe how racist some people are. If you don’t like the country move!!!! You will not be missed.

Let me guess, most of you who find this picture to be wrong in anyway, also believe that you have the right to bear arms. The same American rights that you try to hide behind are the same rights that allow two people of different races, religions, or political parties to date, kiss, marry, and have children if they desire. Those rights also protect the Post-Dispatch in allowing them to use this picture.

I’ve spent a lot of time in other major US cities, and in cities like New York, you can’t even tell what race most of the people are. It is a true melting pot. It is this same melting pot that brought my ancestors of Native American, Irish, Lithuanian, German, and Polish descent together.

— Bob Inmo
1:44 pm April 10th, 2009

The point is, people, it is OBVIOUS that the PD is trying to make a point by PURPOSELY putting an interracial couple in the photo. Obviously, they did not have to do that. Why did they do it then? TO MAKE SURE THEY PUT THEIR LIBERAL SPIN INTO SOMETHING AS “INNOCENT” AS AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE BEST PLACES TO SMOOCH!!!

— Chud
1:52 pm April 10th, 2009

Grow up! This is a photo for an article on the “best places to smooch”, hardly what I would call “hard hitting journalism”.

For those who wanted to use an old offensive term, at least learn how to spell it correctly “miscegenation”, not “miscegnation”.

How about an article on “mixed race” couples? Why in my family we allowed and Italian Roman Catholic marry an Irish Roman Catholic.

2:15 pm April 10th, 2009

Some on here seem to be saying that the PD is wrong to show a picture of two interracial adults kissing because they know it’s controversial and someone will certainly be offended. One commenter takes this a step further and asks - if it’s okay for the PD to offend some people, why won’t they post some of my views on certain subjects that may offend people?

I’ve got a few comments for these people. First, the PD is a business and can pretty much print whatever it wants to. If you don’t like it, then don’t read it. If you want your controversies posted then find a media outlet that will print your controversial pictures and fascinating articles, or, establish a paper, web site, etc., yourself and post it. Explain to the world the culinary enjoyment of a fresh deer steak; or, remind everyone that the south will rise again because it is comprised of “country boys” who know how to hunt and live off the land; or, describe the true altruistic nature of the KKK as evidenced by their support of white baseball leagues and highway adoptions; or, how much better off blacks were when they were slaves. There’s not a soul stopping you. I urge you to show the slightest bit of initiative.

But if you choose only to continue crying on this blog then I can only assume that you have no more resourcefulness than a brick

— mogoid
2:17 pm April 10th, 2009

I saw the photograph this morning, noticed an article on places to ’smooch,’ subconsciously noticed a couple was kissing and - honestly - didn’t even notice or paid attention to what ethnicity the couple was. Had I noticed, I wouldn’t have even thought twice; I’m used to interracial couples - particularly in ‘hip’ club settings where the photograph appears to have been shot.

Actually, I am surprised to hear that there was a negative reaction to the photograph from some of the populace. I would think any controversies about this subject would have ended years ago.

Deep down, I don’t think most people are USED to seeing interracial couples - but also, deep down, there really isn’t a reason to question them. Many people have emotional reasons for questioning them, but they don’t have a position of logic to argue from.

There really isn’t a rational defense against interracial relationships - and there isn’t a Biblical defense (unlike, say, homosexual relationships)….after all, Moses married a woman of dark skin…

I don’t mind this photo at all, except her grabbing his tie. For some reason, that bothers me. Maybe because I’ve had neck problems. Anyway, the interracial thing doesn’t bother me, but had the PD used a same-sex couple I would have had to object. That would cross my personal line.

john,
You are a walking (or at least typing) stereotype. I loved the “I’m not racist, I have inter-racial couples for friends” comment. That’s usually the first thing out of a bigot’s mouth once they remove their foot.

Then you claim people are quick to jump on you. Yet, I was responding to a comment where you were whining that people were NOT responding to another of your posts.

I lived in the south for nearly 20 years. For years the engagement and wedding sections in the paper have had biracial couples. It is old news. For people to be upset about a picture of a biracial couple kissing means just one thing..and the use of the word miscenegation is a tip off. And I am not a liberal, but being conservative does not make one a racist. And a biracial couple kissing bothers me not one whit.

I saw the cover. Thanks for pointing it out…I hadn’t paid any attention to the race of either person.

Question, if they have a child, will the child be considered black or mix race? While it’s of little value, Obama is called black, yet his mother was white.

According to a 2007 Gallup poll, 77% of Americans approve of interracial marriages. That is up from 4% in 1958. Despite what some would have you believe, I’d say we have made some progress. http://www.gallup.com/poll/28417/Most-Americans-Approve-Interracial-Marriages.aspx

There is only one race… THE HUMAN RACE! I see two people kissing and find it beautiful. If you don’t have the inteligence to understand that we are all the same… which is why you can take the organs or blood from any human being and transplant them into any other human being, then your are an animal.

How sad. It continues to amaze me how astoundingly uneducated vast swaths of this country remain. Racism, anti-gay sentiment and the like are the product of a lack of education. Clearly, many St. Louis residents, along with many people in the rest of the country, need some serious help.

Iconoplatic Rage.
As a Member of the GOP a somewhat Bush supporter and a black man married to a white woman for 30 years. Please resign from the GOP. You give us all a bad name.
A mixing of the races is what we need. All people should realize that there are no pure race humans in the world. Somewhere along the line in all of our families there is that proverbial mouse in the shoebox. I am proud to say that I am not pure negroid. My wife is polynesian and arab. I am negroid, sioux and french. My kids as a result are heinz 57.
Oh, and a black man and white woman kissing? We have 3 kids. Guess we did a lot more than kiss. LOL!

I am still sitting here at my desk with my mouth wide open! I am not a naive person by nature, but I am shocked that people in 2009 seriously would even waste a minute of their day bothered by seeing a man and woman kissing because they are not the same race. are you kidding me? where do these people live and work, because i am a white woman from saint charles, and a middle class citizen working in the professional world, and I do not know people that close minded or ignorant. you have the right to your opinion, but I just cant believe the things that i have read. with all the viloence in saint louis you would think that seeing two people, no matter the races, kissing, you would be glad for something less violent. It just saddens me.

I’m amazed there is this much ignorance and intolerance still thriving at such a level in STL. It’s small wonder, given the simple outcry over such a picture, that people outside the area give this town little regard. When too many denizens still act like ignorant, uneducated backwater hicks, it’s difficult to overcome the perception. I find myself cringing when I tell people I live in St. Louis, just because I realize there are people out there who live under this kind of cultural shroud. If you don’t like the races mixing, don’t be a part of it yourself; but spare the rest of the world your brand of social fascism.

The reality here is that the silent majority does not accept interacial behavior and views it as unnatural. Most responsible parents do not allow cross-relationships such as these and for valid reasons. With a few celebrity exceptions, most of the offspring are not accepted by either group and are taunted and abused. The woman in the picture likely had difficulties finding a partner of the same race due to her weight, general appearance, and likely some psychological issues such as unnatural attractions, rebelliousness, a nobody-can-tell-me-what-to-do attitude, among other kinks. As a family newspaper, the P-D showed very poor judgement in promoting and condoning this unacceptable behavior and offenede may readers in the process. A retraction and an apology are clearly in order and should be forthcoming.

I know this couple in real life and they are incredible, wonderful, loving people. They didn’t choose to love each other, it just happened. And why should we (as if we really have a say in the end) try to take away love, ever? There is so much pain, war, and unhappiness in this world. The more love we have, the better the world we’ll have. It doesn’t matter who’s loving who, what race or gender they are, it just matters that there is love. Let’s create more love, not take it way. Their love does not harm the world, it helps the world! SMOOCH ON CUTEST COUPLE EVER!

I am not surprised at the outrage at the picture to be honest, I saw it and thought that the bigots here will be licking their chops at a chance to express their outrage. And they did, making a fool of themselves to the vast majority here who read this. It is comical, but I feel bad that an interracial couple could possibly still get dirty looks - in 2009! If it’s any consulation it is clear that this type of thinking is quickly dwindling and attitudes are changing.

I find it sad that people are so worried about two people of different races kissing on the front of a magazine cover. We are in the middle of a recession with no light at the end of the tunnel. People are losing their jobs and trying to find ways to keep their homes and feed their families. We, as a community and the great city of St. Louis, should support each other no matter what a person’s skin color is. With all that is going on in the world that is already bad, why put ignorance on the list.

“Wasn’t there just (yes, there was) one of the interracial success stories highlighted in the media where the black man stalked his white wife for years, consistently beat her and brutalized her until last week when he slashed her throat while they were in the car together, all the while a child was in the backseat and sat watching the entire brutal murder?”

Comment: Wasn’t there just five days ago(yes, there was) one of the same race success stories highlighted in the media where the white man abused his white girlfriend, consistently beat her and brutalized her until last week his mother got sick and tired of him and called the police and he brutally shot the white police officers who came to arrest him? In Pittsburg, remember? What you are saying by your above statement is that it is fine if whites kill other whites (which has been happening more often lately) but becomes an issue if blacks kill whites!

A blogger asked earlier if the PD should have considered that this would offend people. My parents were asked the same question when they got married 31 years ago - Had they considered that their marriage (between a black man and a white women) would offend people? They had. They did it anyway - so here I am. But why should anyone of adult age have to consider others people’s feelings when it comes to love between two people?

I wish I were surprsied at the response this picture has created. But as the product of a mixed-race marriage, I remember too well the first times I noticed getting dirty looks when my family and I would go to dinner. Still happens to us today. I did not know the PD was planning this cover, but I meet it with mixed emotion. I’m glad it gives people a chance to have these discussions that obviously need to happen - just look how many people took time to comment! Still, I also think it’s really sad we still can’t see past color, even when it comes to love and happiness. That’s just my 2 cents.

What’s up with the tags of “Barack Obama, derek jeter, halle berry, tiger woods” for this story? May as well add “chickens, john kerry, Atlantis, apple pie, or space aliens” as they are just as relevant.

What kind of college newspaper even reports on places to have PDA? Come on, go find some news.

Would there be the same amount of issue if the photo was of a black woman and a hispanic man, or a asian man and a hispanic woman? What about a black man and a blond white man?

I’ve seen a lot of racial tension in St. Louis over the years. And bigots are not limited to being white as i’ve seen it from all sides.

Mick,

Hopefully your disgust is because you find it unacceptable to smooze in public and only between two married people and even if assuming the two are married you find smoozing unable in such a publication. If this is not the case with you and it is solely because the race of these two people you are a racist and certainly have a wicked heart and I bet that you consider yourself a Christian as so many of your racist do being in danger of perishing because of your ignorance. Or is it, you are just a lost little wicked soul?

The very people who think that they are in a safe state and of proper and good mental condition are the very ones who are the most sick and evil to the core and are in a must worst condition as any they judge to be immoral. And to assume that no beautiful sane White women date, marry, or are attracted to Black men shows us that you indeed do suffer from some sort of mental illness that keeps you far removed from reality and what is true. Of course, really mentally sick people cannot see their own sick mental state and sick heart condition. Many times such a condition is because some have been cut off from grace because they refused long ago to turn away from wickedness before their hearts were hardened. I do truly hope that this is not your condition.

“Would there be the same amount of issue if the photo was of a black woman and a hispanic man, or a asian man and a hispanic woman?”

Try Asian woman and white man. There are white expat American women in Asia who will not date a white man who dated an Asian. Actually had a chance to watch the movie South Pacific in real life in a country called Singapore a few years ago..a white Canadian had asked this white American woman for a date, and she refused saying that she does not date white men who date Asian women. So why is anyone surprised that there is opposition in the US.

— George
4:35 pm April 10th, 2009

I am not surprised by the racist comments regarding the photo of the interracial couple. I am amazed by:

1. The P-D used the photo to intentionally “stir” people
2. The posters who claim they don’t care whom people date, yet in the next sentence write they don’t want it “thrown in their faces.”

If the couple was black and Asian, white and Asian, or black and Latino/Latina, I can’t help but wonder: would the responses be as negative?

This reminds me of a national magazine cover a decade or so ago in which black football player was holding a white woman. The magazine and the participants were taken aback by the wave of negative comments. It’s unfortunate that 10 years or so later, in some, the reaction is the same.

George,

Sadly I find more people in denial of their racists’ hearts in America than non-racists being surprised by all the racists here in the United States.

Americans just pretend their racist hearts doesn’t exist and that they can control their racist attitudes when they must have contact ones of the race that they hold racist attitudes towards not realizing that those they have racist feelings towards usually doesn’t have a fair chance with them concerning nothing at all under no circumstances. I would say that over half of Americans today hold very racist attitudes in their hearts even when it isn’t always so apparent on the outside and is the main reason why Blacks lag so far behind Whites in just about everything in the United State. It is obvious that both greed and racism are America’s and the Church’s greatest sins. An entire society will fall down over these two evils.

Too many of the blind Christians in America think that the behavior and actions of non-believers and non-Christians are the reason why a society will fall. Not so, at all! It is GREED and RACISM that has plagued America in both the world and the Church and this is the reason for all of America’s ills, not the sins of those who do not pretend to know who God is..

I have a PhD and I will give you the answer..for the same reason why white men chase Asian women (here out in Hawaii almost every other white male has an Asian female in his arms) and racist white expat American women in Asia wont even touch an Asian man or date a white man who has dated an Asian woman (here in Hawaii it is different though..more white women date Asian men than anywhere else in the world!)

D. Walker:

Being a church going Christian myself, I really dont care about people kissing in public or even posing provacatively. Before I went to Hawaii for the spring semester (I am from Arlington, VA and spent seven months in DC, one month in Singapore and four months in Hawaii during the past year), I thought I would find more folks walking around in bikinis. Actually the locals are mostly Asian and very conservative (not racially) and I hardly see anyone in bikinis in my area. Now as you say if someone has problems with racy pictures, I can understand. However, if someone says it is ok for a white male and female to pose nude but not for a black male and white female and vice versa, I do have a problem. It is the same argument that folks make about blacks killing whites, while they ignore all the whites being killed by whites (Alabama has become a white on white killing field in the past month). Killing is wrong, period, but seems like enough racists make a distinction between blacks killing whites and whites killing whites! Disgraceful!

One comment that I have an issue with is the fact that interracial relationships is being “shoved down your throat”. When was the last time you saw an interracial couple in the Post Dispatch? And now, they show something “this one time” and it drives people stark raving mad. I mean, WTF? Not that I am surprised by it because you see the same types of comments every time you see a black man and a white woman paired on the internet. My personal opinion is that anyone who is seriously offended by such pairings (or same sex ones) need serious help.

Society, however, is increasingly moving past it. There are more people today that have no issues with such pairings than those who do have an issue. The PD was able to post such a picture because they know that most people are beyond such issues. They have moved on to even more important issues. With issues such as environmental disaster, war, terrorism, economic crisis, constitutional crisis, technological revolution, interracial relationships just seems unbelievably petty.

— Robert
6:11 pm April 10th, 2009

Mick,

How can an attraction be unnatural? That just doesn’t make sense to me. You are attracted to who you are attracted to. You don’t get to choose your attractions, and that is because nature (or, if you like, god) chooses it for you.

And I agree that no one can tell me what to do. It is because I am an adult with an independent mind, and also because I am an American. This country was built by people like myself. The reason why America is the greatest nation in the world is because we have the freedom to do and to think for themselves. If your American ancestors decided to “obey” rather than to think and act for themselves, you would not have the freedom of speech, religion, assembly, or press. You would not have the freedom to start and run your own business. There would be no science and no modern technology because no one would’ve questioned the orthodoxy of their times. You would only be able to practice one brand of Christianity. There would daily be religious bloodshed. So be thankful for people who decide to think and act for themselves because those are the same types of people who built America, and who fought for the same rights and freedoms, and the way of life that you take for granted.

The emotional and vociferous liberals on this site that preach tolerance are complete frauds. I’m pretty sure their true mindset is, “They can do whatever they want as long it doesn’t involve MY family or friends.”
Societal norms are determined by the collective behaviors of the majority of it’s members. The non-conformers are considered anomalies and flukes.
Interracial pairings and other such mismatches fall in this non-typical category. Society as a whole does not embrace the idea of cross-relationships, as evidenced by the fact that these unusual pairings are not common, and usually involve outcast members from each of their respective racial groups.

The gov is killing me,

Let me answer for you the reason why Black men date and marry White women at a higher rate than White men do Black women. It is because Anglo-White American men see the world and especially the U.S. as full of financial opportunities and always feel that this door is open, owed and deserved of them by virtue of being a White male. White Anglo men have always understood and have attempted and have clawed their way to achieve high social status in America that comes almost always by gaining wealth in this country. Now mind you, America is and has always been a very racist country and dating a Black woman would interfere with the economic status dreams of most White men because of the prejudices of those that he must play the game with in order to achieve the success that the White man so desperately seeks and needs. The many racists that his path must cross is unbearable and he is unable to handle maltreatment by others such as Blacks who are able to deal with it because they have had no choice and is accustom to it.

The Black man have death with unbelievable maltreatment because of loving White women and have been harassed, thrown in prison and even have had to leave this country over it, but again Blacks are accustomed to this mind set where the White man is not.

White women? Well let’s just say they too have been the butt of much ugly due to sexist White men and can take it more so than White men. White men are a spoiled privileged breed in this country, aren’t they? (lol). But so true!

P.S. No matter how poor a White man is he knows wealth is within his reach no matter how ignorant, dumb or stupid that they are and is the reason you see all these one paycheck to the poor White Republican Conservatives men so vigorously defending greedy rich White men and greedy Corporate America in the U.S. because money and wealth and the people that have it these ones worship.

Money and social statute is the God and goal of the majority of Anglo-White men and almost all refuse to allow love or an interracial relationship with a Black woman interfere with their goals of financial success and social status because they truly understand that we in America truly live in a racist society where Blacks are mainly the butt of this racism.

This is the real reason why you don’t see many non-racist White men in interracial relationships. Most White men who are attracted to Black women and believe me there are MANY, they have this false imagine that they must master in order to feel worthy and accepted in this society and this image they seek and desire more than anything else in this world.

Lastly, you must know that most people Black, White and other are married and dating people of the same race because it is what is most acceptable outside for reasons of religion which is a whole different situation, but people marry and date within their race usually because it is what is most comfortable outside any questionable motives and that is to be expected and is very normal. People more often date interracially when they socialize and live among people of other races and where this comfort level develops in order that ones my date and then marry.
I would gesture without any doubt that this is entirely the reason for America’s dead intent on keeping things as segregated as legally possible using all sorts of schemes.

Missouri is more racist than most parts of the world and the St. Louis Metro area stupidly so because of the great costs it has had upon the region.

“Interracial pairings and other such mismatches fall in this non-typical category. Society as a whole does not embrace the idea of cross-relationships, as evidenced by the fact that these unusual pairings are not common, and usually involve outcast members from each of their respective racial groups.”

Everything is non-typical to most people. Every pairing is unusual. Korean dating a Japanese is fine with white American but not with Koreans and Japanese. A Nigerian black dating a Ghanian black is fine with white and black Americans but not with Nigerians or Ghanians in this country or elsewhere. An Irish dating English will not raise eyebrow among white Americans (who only see color in most cases) but it is a scandal back in Ireland especially if it is a catholic and protestant match. A white American woman nearly got beat up in India after she tried to set up a moslem woman with a Hindu man (she thought they are compatible because of color..obviously this woman cannot think beyond color). If we think of everything that is atypical, we will not survive in this world. One final thing..do agree that there are many so-called liberals who are shocked if their daughter dated black or Hispanic or their son dated a Filipina.

Society does not revolve around St. Louis and bigoted areas of the US South. Try Seattle, Portland, LA, San Francisco or Honolulu. You will change your mind quick!

What really needs to be challenged here is not the photo of a couple kissing - an interracial couple.

No, what needs to be challenged is the assumption by some that they think they have a “right” to challenge a mixed race couple.

It is this type of presumptiveness that cannot be let pass as if it represents any kind of “norm”.

You know, there were times when it was rough, but I’m glad I grew up in the Walnut Park neighborhood of North St. Louis until I was about 10 years of age. I learned early that there were good and bad people — period. Race and skin color has nothing to do with it.

I personally find it to be beautiful. I find any kind of appropriate display of affection to be beautiful. If it were a white couple I am sure that someone would be offended. If it were a black couple I am sure that people would be offended. As a matter of fact no matter what they do, straight, gay, interacial…someone less than intelligent person will find a way to spew ignorance. In the end, no matter what, SOMEONE will most likely say something negative. I can not belive that people still find time to waste on this. If you like the magazine, but not the cover…then turn the page and move on. Self censorship…try it.

I think it’s funny that we celebrate MLK day and his dream as a national holilday, but yet, we still have ‘controversy’ such as this. Love doesn’t depend on race. How horribly racist our country is, after ALL we have been through to make it equal and not racist. It truly amazes me. I have a white aunt who married a black man and he is THE best uncle in my family. They are an amazing couple and have wonderful children. There is no problem with it.

I know this couple personally and think they really make a statement in this article. They have been together for a long time and really are symbolic to the point this article was trying to make. They are a great couple with a very special bond who made it through college together and still are going strong. I think people need to quit being so overly opinionated and see the article with an open mind. WHAT AND WHO DOES IT HURT??? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!

To the writer of this article, I think it is wonderful. I don’t think you should ever have had to be concerned about publishing it. It’s sickening that you had to worry at all.

I am reminded of what a friend said a few weeks ago in a conversation about same-sex marriage and the belief that people opposed it because homosexuality was “not normal”.

He said, “Heterosexuality is not normal. It is merely common.”

The same could be said, one supposes, of single-race romance.

If you have a problem with mixed-race demonstrations of affection, dating or marriage, I believe you will soon find that the world has left you and your prejudice behind, as we have shed so many prejudices before. And good riddance.

Gee, I never even heard the word…what was it? Miscegnation?? Guess what! It’s not against the law anymore. I was reared to believe that men and women, no matter their color, sex, religious beliefs, cultural beliefs, educational level, or economic status, were created equal. I am not surprised by the racist comments. I am not convinced that it is much better anywhere else, but racists are definitely well-represented on the stltoday postings.

“I prefer for you to explain it — publicly”

There is a tendency for white men who date outside their race to prefer Asian women. The most likely explanation I hear is that they tend to be petite compared to women of other races, such as black women. Some white men only want to date Asian women. See many of them here in Hawaii. Similarly there is a tendency for white women who date outside their race (less than 3%?) to date black men because according to the blogs such as topix black men tend to be well built and muscular. There are actually more white men dating outside their race (close to 20%) than white women (close to 3%). Sure these men date Asian women but Asian does not equal white whatever people might think. In general white American women are racist when it comes to dating or even when it comes to casual conversation over a coffee. The only excpetion I have seen is here in Hawaii. In Asia as I had mentioned, there are several white women who would not date white men who dated Asian women..the movie South Pacific, anyone? So folks are making a big issue of white women dating black men..a piddly 3%? Interesting many folks other than racist white women dont raise the issue of 20% of white men dating Asian women. I see some double standards here! In reality, most white women are more concerned about preserving the whiteness for future generations (white skin worship) than white men.

This blog entry perfectly illustrates the dilemma that libertarians have in finding a political home. Liberals and social conservatives both want to control every aspect of people’s lives. Liberals want to regulate every aspect of our behavior and economic choices and some social conservative want to regulate with whom people enter into relationships.

After many false starts, the editors have finally posted an entry with a legitimate point. Like Mr. Greenbaum, I find many of the posts fascinating. I can’t believe that anyone thinks it is their place to question who another chooses to kiss.

I have disagreed with the majority of points made by the Post on this blog. However, I have to agree with the editors on this one. People should be free to do as they please as long as they do not force others who may have other viewpoints. People do not have the right to not be offended.

For the record, my wife and I are different races. I could care less if some anonymous poster approves of my marriage or family. A person of real convictions does not need to resort to phony outrage or calls for government action.

The cover is actually very repulsive, why a white woman would do something like that is hard to understand, because nature dictates that you improve the species, and inter-breeding with blaks degrades the white race. If all whites inter-bred with negroes, within a few generations all white traits will have been bred out, we would average down to the lowest common denominator. think about what we would have then, after all, the negroid hasn’t been at the forefront of human civilization, has it. just one look at africa tells you all you need to know about the negro.

Another issue is that white women that settle for negroes become damaged goods, they usually end up with criminal records, drug addicted, broke, and infected with various diseases, since negroes are the greatest carriers of all types of STD’s. As a man, I would not have anything to do with a woman who has “dated” a negro, from both a moral standpoint and a self preservation standpoint.

“What the world has learned is that you better not state your honest opinions or you will be branded a racist,”

You have the right to post your views, and I have the right to call you a racist. So you exercise your right and I will exercise mine!

“Outside of these blogs, the workplace and all of the places where the politically correct masquerade is required, the majority opinion is consistent that this unusual behavior is not acceptable in a decent God-fearing society.”

You want to bring God into it! You are on! Based on the Old Testament your existence is a mistake. God created separate language groups at the Tower of Babel and the creation of America by mixing different language groups into one so-called white ethnicity, violated the basic tenet of the Old Testament. If your ancestors were really god fearing they would not have intermarried among various language groups to create a white America.

You may find that unnatural. An Irishman may find your existence unnatural because your mother may be of Irish origin and father may be of English origin. Anything based on skin color is racist. However, if a Latvian wants to marry Latvian or French a French, it is not racism but cultural compatability. However, if a white American woman is ok with marrying a moslem Tunisian or Lebanese because he looks white but will not marry an Asian or black American with whom she has a lot more in common than the moslem Arab..her decision is based solely on skin color..then she is a RACIST..in capital letters.

Mildred,

I too would like to hear your answer to the question pose by gman4446.

If you and your co-worker are racist or not racist would depend on why you and your Black co-worker friend are opposed to interracial, Black/White dating and another question to you is, do you oppose all other type interracial dating, ie. Asians, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, dating and marrying Whites?

Yes it is racist due to the fact that you and your are feel that it is wrong for everyone. What one’s own preferences or whom they fall in love with is their choice and one opposes what another does in this area, yes, it is usually due to a unclean heart problem and so what your Black co-worker oppose interacial datinmg and so does many other Blacks who are racist and I have personally known many Black women who hate Black men date outside their race and yes it is racist.

If you find interracial couple revolting I have every right to find your views racist and revolting. It is your right to condemn the interracial couple but be prepared to take it as much as you give it. You may think diversionrary..it is not. The European country where I used to live, Latvia..they consider anybody marrying outside their ethnic group..Latvian..as unantural and abomination in front of God. So, just like you say that interracial marriage is unnatural, they have every right to say that your very existence is unnatural..they have their right and you have your own..no diversionary distraction here. America does not set the law as to what is natural and unnatural. Based on the strict interpretation of the Bible at the Tower of Babel your very existence and the existence of most white America is unnatural..contravention of God’s will in confusing tongues!

Mick,

The sick state you must be in to have the nerves to suggest that God disaproves of interracial marriages is threading on very dangerous territory because you like so many other misguided Christians will perish for a lack of knowledge if you continue down the path that you are on, that is if you are not just plain evil and the child of the devil with a seared mind.

Only one a fool and one totally ignorant of Scripture, or one with no fear of Him, but you do suggest that you fear Him, so I will assume that you are truly ignorant of what God’s inspired Word (Scripture) teach within the pages of the Bible.

You are certainly not on the straight path leading to The Kingdom of God’s as evident by your perverted thinking. And YES! Your thinking is perverted and twisted on this matter of interracial dating and anyone with such twisted views concerning this and God as you are is more than likely walking very crooked in all his ways. Interracial marriages in themselves are not sick, sinful, immoral or evil. Your thinking and your heart are very sick and far, far away from God and the teachings within Scripture.

So, if you truly fear God as you suggest, knock it off spreading lies about Who the God of Scripture is as disclosed in the Holy Scriptures (The Bible). This is the God you are speaking about isn’t it, the same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in Scriptue?

During the time of Jesus there were no racial classifications as we have today. These racial classifications were invented by man. Perhaps God did not want Jews to marry gentiles as non-Jewish whites were calleed then (because most of them were pagans practising human sacrifice and even cannibalism), not due to skin color. However, at the Tower of Babel God ordained different language groups and if we hold on to the tenet of the Tower of Babel the very existence of white America is immoral. But, Christ whose crucifixion we commemorate today and whose resurrection we celebrate on Easter changed all that and according to the New Testament there are no Jews or Gentiles but we are all one body in Christ. Race was and is an American invention. There is no Biblical reference to racism as Americans practice it and hence justification of the condemnation of IR couples and their offspring is a sin and is blasphemy..because every human is made in the image of God. People who condone racism either by condemning other people’s marriages as unanatural do not worship in the alter of the risen Christ..they are essentially white skin worshipping pagans.

Want to get a discussion that requires lots of ignorance to participate? Choose race and religion. Let me hit you right in the nose immediately.

THERE ARE LOTS OF MAN MADE RELIGIONS AND NOT ONE GOD MADE RELIGION.

D. Walker is a typical example. He spews some kind of Christian Religion, that is apparently based on either the King James Version or the King John
version. Ask him, “In what direction was the Christian God travelling when he stopped by and created the heavens and the Earth?”

Hades, he hasn’t ever read the Bible, or he wouldn’t be expounding his ignorance in here.

John: Good point about religion. North County is full of man-made religions. If you drive through this area you will see churches with names and denominations nobody has ever heard of and which are certainly not mainstream by any stretch. Clearly concocted, contrived, and purely man-made to attract the gullible and relieve them of their money at the same time.

One more time, with the hope that the light may come on: Society determines the behavioral norms and this “Anything goes”, “If it feels good do it” mentality (or lack therof)is flatly rejected by the vast majority of the educated, intelligent, members of the group. Granted, you can do whatever you want, but realize you are stepping outside the boundaries that intellectual society has determined to be the best course for our behaior patterns. Good luck with whatever situations you manage to get yourselves into. Unnatural behaviors and unusual attractions are dangerous, sinful, temptations that should be avoided at all costs. Nothing good will ever evolve from it.

What none of you can see is that being offended is a CHOICE. If someone chooses to be offended by something I do, then that says a whole lot more about them than it does about me.

If you find interracial dating offensive, don’t do it.

That is NOT to say that there are things that shouldn’t be done. That isn’t my point at all. But, I would maintain that 90% or more of the “racial incidents” that happen these days are actually people choosing to be offended by something someone else did. Live and Let Live.

Idiotnoir: Your post effectively summarizes and details the unnatural aspect of these relationships that I have been attempting to convey to the “social engineers” on this blog. Preservation and advancement of the species defines the natural behavior patterns and biologically correct course of action for the human race. Misguided relationships that have the opposite effect and result in a “dumbing down” outcome are severely detrimental and of no value to any one individual (or pairing) or society as a whole. Unfortunately, the small sampling of naive posters on this blog apparently lacks the intellectual capacity to comprehend these scientific arguments. The other possibility is that these “Live for today” and “No rules” mindsets may just be ignorant of the long term consequences and impact of their self-destructive, hedonistic, and self-serving lifestyles, through no fault of their own. A more scary possibility is that they do understand and have chosen this low-road path by design.

John, Mick, and those who agree with them are typical hard-core, right-wing ultra-conservatives who are lashing out now that their Governor-who-called-himself-President and Vice-President-who-thinks-he’s-above-the-law are out of office, and their narcissistic views on America have been exposed for the fascist diatribe that they are. It is unfortunate that they are given a voice here, but then, that’s true democracy in action. Democracy means ALL voices are heard equally, something that their ilk did not allow to happen for eight years. Too bad they have no appreciation for real democracy. Apparently, if they aren’t allowed to be in complete control, they will go to any length to burn down the medium and the country and take real liberty with them.

As to me piping in about being black and having a white wife. Well, if you stretch the term she could be white. But she is polynesian and syrian truly. And I am a mix myself, just happen to look black so that is what I call myself. Hell, I could call myself creole also, just with a deep dark tan, that all you whites spend time or big money to get.
Now, all you that think this is against God’s will or nature or what have you. Show me the scripture or scientific proof of you’re beliefs.
I await with bated breath.

Idiotnoir… It’s not surprising I didn’t see a comment to your post from anyone on this blog. You are of the lowest human caste, sir. You obviously abhor people — much as Jeff Goldblum did to others in the movie `The Fly.’ I’m hard-pressed even referring to you as a fellow human being.

Maybe you should educate yourself, Idiotnoir — even a little bit. There is an account of a Dutch seafarer who, after going to Africa, described cities and avenues that surpassed those in Europe at the time. And, to the best of my recollection, this wasn’t in Egypt. But even the Egyptian empire proves your comment to be fallacious.

Educate myself? relating an account of a “dutch seafarer” makes YOU educated? I have actually read the account, what you fail to mention is who built the cities and avenues. It was the Arabs you fool, examine the architecture, pure Islam. Arabs set up trade with negroids, bringing their salt in exchange for gold and slaves, it was Arabs that built the cities in a effort to spread Islam, it was the Arabs who brought civilization to the negroid. Try reading the history of Timbuktu, what the dutch explorer thought were roofs made of gold were actually made of mud. As for Egypt, Egyptians are not negroid, but educated people already know this, right EJ?

“Now, all you that think this is against God’s will or nature or what have you. Show me the scripture or scientific proof of you’re beliefs.

I provided ample proof and evidence that clearly explained why, from a scientific POV, inter-racial breeding is a crime against nature and the human race, but the PC thought police decided it was too persuasive and powerful so they deleted it.

Idiotnoir… So you’re saying you definitely know the Egyptians weren’t black? This has been open to debate how long, but you know for sure? I think it’s safe to argue that a good amount of the ancient Egyptians probably fell to that side.

As for the Dutch seafarer, the account I read made no mention about Arabs having built the cities and avenues. Nothing was implied other than the Africans having built them themselves.

However, I have read an argument that less societal progress takes place in tropical climates because no planning is mandated by seasons for the growth of crops. The argument is this promotes more of a laissez-faire approach to life in general. I might be wrong, but I believe this was argued in the book `The Revolt of the Masses’ by Ortega y Gasset.

How you can claim, `inter-racial breeding is a crime against nature and the human race,’ is beyond me. A crime against nature would be someone breeding with a cantaloupe. We’re all human beings — despite the color of our skin. Let me guess: you live in Idaho in an enclave, right?

EJ: Please consider the facts with an open mind. I am assuming you have a basic understanding of the biological sciences and genetic principles and predispositions.
Dredging up ancient history to try to prove a modern point is meaningless and nothing more than a distraction to the primary argument. The United States is the global leader in all categories and has the power to enforce it’s will, at it’s discretion.(Nuclear as a last resort). In contrast, the primitive African continent has a wealth of natural resources including gold, diamonds, oil etc. Despite this abundance of natural resources and wealth, these tribal folks dance around the campfires with bones in their noses while suffering from a multitude of diseases (Aids etc.),starvation, lack of medical care, no legitimate educational system, runaway inflation, ethnic cleansing, and a chaotic government structure or lack thereof. All of these conditions exist while the population is literally sitting on billions of dollars of wealth. This situation is clearly indicative of an intellectual deficiency of the general population as well as the government. Cross-breeding the members of an advanced society with the descendants and relatives of this racial group cannot possibly result in a statistical improvement to the advanced society. As such, it is totally unnatural and biologically self-destructive to the advanced society to cross-breed with the descendant members of this challenged race, that is virtually 200 years or more behind the current state of societal and technological development. In effect, modern, advanced, society has everyting to lose and nothing to gain from these illogical and perverted interracial situations.

FTPD: At the Post-Dispatch, we report the news. People read the coverage and make up their minds. Our standard is accurate, unbiased coverage.

I do not work in the Features department, but I can assure you that the models used for various photo shoots are not selected or rejected based on their race, ethnicity or religious convictions.

St. Louis is becoming a more diverse city. From the post-World War I and II influx of southern blacks, the emigration of Russian Jews in the 1980s, the Mexican and Latin American migrant workers who followed Missouri’s harvest seasons before settling in South St. Louis and joining the work force, the South Asians who built communities along the Olive corridor near I-170 and along South Grand Blvd., to the recent Bosnian influx into South City, more people of various backgrounds make up the fabric of the metro populace.

While you don’t see a lot of biracial couples and families in Jefferson County or North St. Louis City, in Clayton, University City, Maryland Heights, Richmond Heights, St. Ann, Maplewood, Midtown Soulard, Benton Park, Lafayette Square and downtown, couples of various races and ethnic groups are more prevalent. We remain below other cities in the east, south, upper midwest and west, but the diversity of our population is growing.

If you personally don’t want to date someone of another race, ethnicity or religious group, that is your choice. It is not up to you to try to enforce those choices upon others. I wonder if you would refuse service from an biracial doctor, be defended by an biracial police officer or soldier, have your children educated by an biracial teacher or live next to a biracial neighbor? At some point, such isolation only hurts the bigot or xenophobe. The rest of society doesn’t miss a beat.

Of course, we have a mulatto now in charge of the country and, in effect, the free world. And the man is as dumb as a rock, isn’t he? Oh, no, that was Dubya who was as dumb as a rock. I guess Obama would have to be as dumb as a pebble, since his worth is so much less than a white man, according to some posters here.

Just a couple of things to add… Without naming names, I’m acquainted with a black author who, each time I saw him with a woman, she happened to be white. I never thought twice about it. Now, having been educated by certain bloggers here, I SHOULD have thought twice about it — in fact, I should have thought three, four, or five times about it. Actually, I should have thought incessently about it and let it run my life, providing the fuel for a discordant, destructive worldview, as certain posters on this blog obviously do. Yet, this man in question has a degree from a prominent university, is extremely well-read, speaks fluent French, and could run mental circles around the majority of people posting here. But, if he ever happens to have a child with a white woman, a woman he loves, he’ll only succeed in helping to topple advanced Western civilization. Next time I talk with him — if I ever do — I will inform him of this, firmly laying down the law and drawing a line in the sand.

Really, you guys have to quit taking Buchanan’s words as gospel.

On the personal side, about a dozen years or so ago, I struck up a few friendly conversations with a woman at my local bank branch. She was personable, came across as intelligent, and was attractive — in short, a real pleasure to talk and visit with. So, I asked her if she’d like to have dinner sometime, or a couple of drinks. She consented, and gave me her phone number, but noted she was going on a trip with her family somewhere, and that it would have to wait until she returned. A few days after she returned, I called her. Her mood had COMPLETELY changed. On the phone, she wasted no time in putting me on the spot, asking me why it was so important for me — a white man — to ask out a black woman. I was dumbfounded. She explained that where she was from, this didn’t happen. I asked her if she really believed that was still the prevelent mindset, and she told me in no uncertain terms that it was. In fact, she said, where she was from, a white man and a black woman out socially was just inviting trouble — that, in fact, people could get killed over it. I apologized for having caused her any trouble and hung up the phone, though somewhat irritated and perplexed at the time. In retrospect, it’s not hard to figure out who changed her mind. So it just shows this archaic mindset is still being passed down from generation to generation on both sides.

Personally, if I loved a woman, and found her intelligent and attractive, it wouldn’t matter what skin color she had. If I wanted to have a child with her, and had the financial fortitude to do so, I would, without a second thought to her skin color or the child’s. Society, as well, should be above such concerns.

Idiotnoir, there are no such things as “laws” of breeding – there are just human descriptions of what’s going on. Races are like dog breeds – man-made names that artificially categorize things by their outer looks when they’re essentially the same thing.
The only thing remotely resembling a “law” of breeding is that the “mongrels” of any given species tend to be the heartiest, the most free of disease, and the fittest members of that species. Seems to me if we want to find nature’s “recommendations” in that, it would be MIX MIX MIX.
Stop calling your racist beliefs science. They are not.

The fact is there is race war against whites, only whites are too polite to say anything about it for fear of being called racist.”

A thousand white women are raped by white women today. You seem to have an entitlement. What you are implying here is it is ok for a white man to rape a white woman becuase he owns her. Whites kill other whites all the time. Three white men killed more whites in a day in Alabama than any one black man will kill another black in twenty years. With the exception of two or three minorites most serial killers and serial rapists are whites.

The Indians referred to are the American tribes. These would be the Indians that sold Long Island for a bag of colored beads and gave away the rest of their land for a few cases of whiskey. You would be hard pressed to convince anyone this goup had any talent.

I guess this is what Sarah Palin referred to as “small town values”. It seems that no matter what the population or land mass is, the small mindedness is what puts some people at odds with the rest of the nation. In 1964 LBJ signed the civil rights amendment - here it is 2008 and some people will never realise that life goes on without them and their resentments. Interracial relationships have been going on for a long time but it just became a “news story” recently. Issues like Interracial Relationships and Gay Marriage were something politicians used to get elected, they were never something they expected people to hang on to the ideals that they used for votes. I guess this is somehow related to socialism, commie leftwing arrogance in some people’s eyes. Those people are becoming the minority in the nation no matter how hard they try to spread hate. To those of you who argue that the South has changed, although you are now in the majority, you will have to realise that as the old saying goes, “If you aren’t part of the solution, then, you are part of the problem.” To those of you who still want t think you are living in Mayberry in the 40’s, you better pick up your banjo and head for higher ground because civilization is coming and it’s taking no prisoners. Two people who are in a relationship don’t really care what you think. Given the problems we have had with young men of all races being irresponsible, the fact that minority women have begun wanting to find love outside of their own race is natural. They are thinking in terms of who will be a good partner, not what they look like. Being that we know that the DNA of ANY two humans on earth is only two percent different from each other, then there really isn’t more cause for alarm. The main difference between people of different races is mostly cultural backgroud, but education brought everyone closer together and MOST people who have an good education already know that. Bill Cosby has been going around talking about how he would like to see Black People become more responsible and get a better education and attitude. Shouldn’t we be telling ALL OUR YOUNG PEOPLE THAT? Some of you are worried about what race your daughter’s boyfriend is, and as long as he’s white it’s alright if he’s got the Education of Jethro Bodine? White America has to quit thinking that being an uneducated hillbilly is acceptable. If that is “how things are” with you, then, quit worrying about other people’s lives and look at your own failings first. I just read another article about the decline of American society. They mentioned several things that were problems here and one of them was “the spread of hip-hop”. Come on, people. Hip-hop is a style of music close to rap music, not a disease! Are we scared of hip-hop? You have children going without an education and getting pregnant at 13 to 15 years old, one out of every 4 teenage girl in the U.S. has an S.T.D., our economy is crumbling because our government thought they could watch a disaster happen in our banks and were waiting for it to work itself out, (I hope they aren’t the only ones around if I get in a serious car accident), half the stuff we eat has some form of cancer in it, global warming is making my summers unbearable, and less kids are graduating from high school as the number of kids going to rehab and getting arrested for underage drinking and using drugs has increased, but hip-hop is a problem. Only because some racists use the word as codeword for black people could that be a valid statement. The population of affluent blacks in America has risen and several black families now live in what were once considered “predominantly white” neighborhoods. Do you think that is what they meant by the “spread of hip-hop”? Why would I think that in this online magazine?

This is a good one! It is obviously worthy to post this and allow people to contribute. As an African American man that has dated many white women and I am now married to a white woman, I am satisfied that this picture gets on the nerves of some people. White men and a lot of black women should simply get used to the idea that many a black man is going to find comfort in being with a white woman. It is almost as if the “taboo theory” has done itself more harm than good. Historically it was NOT an outrage for some white men to have sex with black women. When the offspring showed up on the plantation is their qualified documentation that any action took place? Are we going to remove any importance that Thomas Jefferson has in America because there is scientific evidence that he fathered children with a black woman? To mention other backgrounds in different relationships is an attempt to change the subject. People of the U.S. need to be honest with themselves about our history and how that history continues to have a direct impact on what goes on today. A very clear dynamic between African descendants and a few European descendants in America can NOT be denied.

I can’t speak for all black men but I can for myself. I did not “go after a white woman” out of revenge or as a move up or anything like that.
I was sitting on a beach in Hawaii and here comes this beautiful woman in a bikini and I thought, well, you know what I thought. Later, I saw this ame woman at a restaraunt working as a bartender and I just had to introduce myself. After a few rejections from Nia she finally agreed to go out with me. We were married a year later and have been now for nearly 30 years. To this day she is a knockout.
LU95, do not believe what you hear about high divorce rates for interacial couples. If Nia and I can make it this long anybody can. All that matters is love. Sure, it starts as lust, but love wins out in the end. Well, that and a good pair of walking away pants.

The cultural difference is so vast that the majority can’t overcome it.
Once the sex good bad or different changes then it falls apart.
Women can push the buttons of men. Now look at the crime stats of black males as a group. Violence is part and parcel so put a white women together with a black man who thinks RESPECT is the end all do all in their life, you now have a power keg. There’s not one man out there that gave it a thought that they would knock that WOMEN into yesterday if she says one more word. Now put that with IMPULSE control problems and you have high rate marriages of divorce interracial couples along with high rates of Black couples seeking divorcé.

It is a slow day at work for me. I happen to find the “Converstaion About Race” blog to be very good. I also find the St. Louis Post Dispatch to be a very good publication. Having said all that, I want to add to my original comment. Black men and white women is a combination that deserves a lot of discussion. I love my wife truly and deeply. I have never been able to explain my preference. I don’t have to explain my preference. The beauty that I admire is from something that has no words to express. No, I do not feel as though I am getting “revenge.” My relationship today and any relationship that I ever had with a white woman was not based on exacting some price on society. It is fair to say however, that many a person within society has tried to exact a price on “us” in a manner of speaking. Fortunately, I am in a position where I am able to chuckle at some of the hate being expoused by some people. It is truly similar to a comedy. Back to the picture, does the fact that she is grabbing his tie make a Freudian suggestion?

I come from an area that is very conservative, yet, not sure I know anyone under 65 that would even give that picture a second thought. I am much more offended by a race baiter like Mr. Moore who takes a few comments on a message board and draws the conclusion that interracial marriage “at least in St. Louis, it seems to remain a touchy subject”. That is an example of a liberal hypocrite who wants to create racism and hatred where very little actually exists. He is as much of a hater as the few isolated people he is mocking by making it look like this is widespread when it is very much a small minority who thinks this way.

I wish it were just a few comments. You didn’t see the comments we deleted, of course. Nor have you seen the e-mails or heard the phone calls we have received. No, this is not the result of some isolated comments.

taxpay–no You need to read history. The rebels against a legitmate gov’t fired FIRST on Ft Sumter in SC; second, they didn’t “invade” the South, they would putting down a rebellion. And you lying, to yourself, if you think that the slaves weren’t treated badly; even if there were places that treated them worse (evidence?), that doesn’t excuse the atrocities perpetrated by vicious cruel plantion owners and their overseers. And let me say that all these ‘white purity’ advocates don’t have a problem with white man on black female sex–whether voluntary on the women’s part or not–from Thomas Jefferson on down.
as for your comment about “millions of deaths”–correct, I should have said casulaties rather than deaths. And don’t forget the millions of slaves who died in the middle passage genocide, exceeding the Jewish holocaust.

anybody who worships the inhumane Confederate-flag bearers who felt no shame about killing 4 innocent Black girls, or using firehoses on little kids, well.. what kind of morality is that?

Thegoviskillingme,

There are no reliable statistics on interracial divorces where the union was Black and White so, why are you so dead set on spewing your baseless opinions that are based in nothing more than ignorance and your racist views as facts?

In the attached web article below you will find some government statistics showing that the divorce rate for interracial couples are SLIGHTLY higher but as the article points out about the government statistics, the number of specific comparisons that can be made is limited because of small sample sizes. While specific pairings such as ‘‘white/black’’ or ‘‘black/Asian’’ are not shown, … ‘‘White/any other’’ couples [which I believe include white-Hispanic as well as white-Asian] have similar chances of marital disruption [40%] as all ‘‘different race’’ couples [41%], which is not surprising as the majority of ‘‘different race’’ couples are ‘‘white/any other’’ pairings. ‘‘Black/any other’’ couples appear to have chances of marital disruption [48%] similar to those for all black couples [47%].

See:
http://isteve.blogspot.com/2005/12/interracial-divorce-statistics.html

Also, you seem highly disturbed by being considered a racist due to your extreme racist views that you have expressed with Kurt Greenbaum taking on the opinion that calling one a racist is name calling so I will respect Mr. Greenbaum rules and opinion even thought I strongly disagree with regards to ones whose views are extremely racist.

The goveiskillingme, let me pose this question to you:

If you have children and if any one of them were to marry a Black man/ Black woman, would you accept that person as you would into your life as you would a White man/White woman being all things equal, that they are good husbands/wives?

Would you accept and love and treat your bi-racial grandchildren from such an interracial relationship just as you would White grandchildren?

If a black man didn’t kiss a white woman I probably wouldn’t exist. I will never understand racist mentality other than the fact that perhaps racists hate themselves so much that they force that hatred onto others as a way to cope. Why else would you pay any attention to someones skin color? Color is literally only skin deep - peel the skin off and we all look the same underneath. People who are happy and satisfied with themselves find love. Racists need special psychological evaluation because they must be so depressed and angry at their lives/family/childhood. I guess that’s why it never offends or upsets me. It’s just sad for them..

I am truly worried about some of your souls.

No doubt all of these “touchy” people call themselves Christians! There’s really going to be some sad faces on judgment day. I blame, the preachers though, not telling people that racism is a sin. Oh, and I also blame the schools, not teaching reading comprehension skills (again so people would actually be able to understand the Bible, not just parrot it).

Chew on this, 15 to 35 percent of people who now mark “white” on the census have recent African decent. Before Jim Crow (aka why the Southern Baptist even exist look it up), there were more categories. My great-grandfather was counted as “mulatto” and so where his parents (and their parents). After Jim Crow, my great grandfather was counted as “white”. The next census my great grandfather was counted as “black” because he was with my great-grandmother (in that state “interracial” marriage was illegal). Most of his siblings went on to “pass” for “white”. I had a “white” roommate in college, after pouting a few things together we figured out that she was my distant cousin. This bugged her boyfriend who was a racist (even though he was Korean American).

Skin color doesn’t even correspond to phenotype. You can have dark skin and still have 65 percent of your recent DNA coming from Europe.

Of course no amount of RELIGION or facts will actually deter bigoted people from being bigoted. However, my “White” husband would like all you bigots to stop calling yourselves CONSERVATIVE. Bigotry and ignorance aren’t a conservative value, they may be a Republican value, but that’s a whole another story. You guys are the reason they Republican party is dead (check out the states among under 30’s).

One last issue, I think it is interesting that Iowa was one of the first states to allow interracial marriage, and have school desegregation (a full 90 years ahead of the rest of the country).

The fires of Hell are hot and real, and you can’t go to heaven unless you repent, you can’t repent if you don’t think you are sinning.

I’m from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and interracial relationships are pretty much a “norm.” I’m a Chinese female and have been dating my a white male for nearly four years. We haven’t had any ugly experiences because of our relationship. I don’t even think anyone stares, not even from old people. Seriously, people, we must look beyond race and look at what people have in common, upbringing, etc. I went to an all girls’ private school, and probably make a better wife to a non-Asian prep school alumnus than a small-town country girl of his ethnicity/race.

I have been married to my husband (who happens to be black) for 10 years. We’ve been together a total of 20 years and have two beautiful daughters who don’t see their parents as black and white. Just their parents! I hope my daughters see the entire world like this - COLORLESS! We should not be seperated or pointed out b/c we chose a partner who is of a different race. Who cares! As long as the person treats you right color, race, religion, etc. shouldn’t matter! Of course, my family was not thrilled at first but they got over it and he has proven himself to be a great provider, husband and father…a great role model for our daughters and their future spouses - whether they’re black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. Only the person on the inside matters.

I can’t believe the outcry over this! What is so wrong dating a member of a different ethnicity? Attraction is attraction - I can’t believe I’m going to be judged by who I date not because of who they are as individuals, but because of their skin color.
For the record I’m an asian woman dating a white man and we smooch (in public)! A lot!

I think it’s pretty much a fact that there are more black-male/white-female couples than white-male/black-female couples out there. I am a white-male who is personally not attracted to a majority of African-American women. Does that make me a racist? No, because you can’t control who you’re attracted to. However, if someday I were attracted to an African-American woman, would I avoid it under the guise of racism? No.

One of the few things I agree with John on, is that, I do believe the editor knew what he was doing when he decided to make the cover of the black-man/white-woman kissing. I don’t have anything wrong with the concept is general, but until inter-racial couples are the majority, they will be continued to be looked down upon by some as a minority.

Ok. I challenge anyone who is genuinely ‘offended’ or ‘morally’ outraged by this pic - or by interracial relationships to deliver a rational argument for the following:

1. On what grounds would you argue for interracial relations being ‘wrong’? That is, beyond your ‘I don’t like black people’ answer. Are there any grounds beyond your racism, or does it entirely depend upon you despising a certain race, or races other than yours?

2. For those who consider themselves ‘Christians’ and seem to oppose this kind of relationship: Please deliver an argument from the teachings of Jesus Christ (presumably Christians base their ethics and beliefs on his teachings right?) which would support being outraged by this pic or relationship?

The problem is, I keep hearing a call from some who are disgusted by the pic for ‘intelligent’ responses, and yet I have not read a single rational defense of the outrage over. it seems to me all of this simply boils down to cultural and racial prejudice inculcated into some (perhaps leftovers from an older Southern culture?) that is at heart highly irrational and certainly VERY un-American (if you take America and its Constitution to be founded upon principles of equality and freedom for all regardless of race etc.)

I suppose a weird analogue would be if I held the ‘belief’ that ignorant poor southern whites should not be allowed to reproduce, and so seeing two of them kiss in public would throw me into a rage, causing me to advocate them being barred from kissing in public spaces cause it implies that they might actually reproduce themselves, which I hold to be bad for American society in general.

But that wouldn’t be any sort of moral outrage that is accepted by the public sphere in 21st C. America. It wouldn’t only mean that I hate poor southern whites (which I don’t of course).

Again, beginning an argument from ‘well, I hate interracial relationships’ or ‘gee, I hate it when cheerleaders date nerds’ is just really NOT an argument at all. It’s a juvenile preference and, well, good for you. Don’t expect rational intelligent beings to accept this as any real argument though.

SK, from St. Louis

“I am a white-male who is personally not attracted to a majority of African-American women. Does that make me a racist? No, because you can’t control who you’re attracted to”

No, it doesn’t automatically make you racist, but if you outright reject them sight unseen BECAUSE they’re black, then, perhaps… Say you’re a single guy:

Your Friend: “Hey, I met this beautiful woman the other day. You’d like her.”

You: “What’s she look like?”

Your Friend: “Well, she’s African American…”

You: “Nope, not interested.”

Your Friend: “But you haven’t seen her.”

You: “Don’t care.”

THAT’S where the racism aspect might come in. If you’re rejecting them as an individual, that’s one thing. If you’re rejecting them all outright, regardless, well…

idiot_noir and Mildred,

I *highly* recommend you get a DNA test like the ones from Nat Geo’s ancestry project to find out what your true genetic heritage is, I think the results will surprise you. Unless you’re too chicken to find out what your ancestors were really up to, and how “pure” your DNA is.

Now, from my understanding of the Crayon scrawls that pass for the holy texts of the feeble-minded yahoo Aryan culture, (and if you’re racist, you’re an Aryan psychopath. Period. What? Don’t like being pigeonholed? Too bad.) white people are chosen or some such crap and their blood is pure and they were all moved down to the promised land of rusty trucks and shotgun racks and let’s raise our cans of bean with bacon soup and say ‘Hell yeah!’ and everyone else can SUCK it, based pretty much on skin color and superior math and/or sports playing ability. Or something.
What gets me is this: White people are the biggest mutts on the planet. Europe (Where white people come from, you brown-shirted morons. Put down that book on racial taxonomy and pay attention. You’re holding it upside down, anyway) is like a crockpot of sex-stew and if you’re white, and I mean, some pure blood this or that like you claim to be (you racist twit) you’re providing yourself a rather forgiving definition of ‘pure’.
What you mean I think is not, ‘White Power’, but ‘Ultra Homogenized From the Concentrated Cultures of About 85 Different Ethnicities Over the Past Few Thousand Years Including Blacks, Jews and Asians. Oh My. Power’. But that’s not as catchy is it?
Irony is, the Jewish people, blacks, Asians all have a purer bloodline than you and have kept a more intact culture than you. And will continue to do so, so long as you resist your own history and refuse to embrace your true heritage.

The fact that this is an issue to prove or disprove is sad and scary. This twon and this state are showing how far behind we are and it is shameful. I am a bi-racial person and I feel that there is no way that someone who has never been in a bi-racial or multi-racial relationship could ever speak on the moral stand of any bi-racial relationship. You are part of this culture of ignorance and your silent consent is what allows hate crimes and bigotry to continue in our country. What is wrong with being a minority? Our country is great precisely because of its diversity, because it protects the rights of everyone — whether they are in the majority or the minority. As a minority myself, all I can say is I am proud. I do not need your white boy pity.

Yes! And I have surprise! In fact I have a Grandson that is black surprise and guess what happen to that relationship? But it still doesn’t mean that the problem went away and it’s growing.
Its people like you refuse to see life as it is. You come from a position of being black and all your beliefs are jaded based on your heritage. You continue to write like it’s your life’s work to suppress any one that has a different view. I’ve been on this earth for 60+ years and I seen the good bad and the ugly, sorry Clint Eastwood. Stats can be made to give any outcome. living Life is my Rabbi. I’ve wasted more effort on you then you truly deserve.
Would you accept and love and treat your bi-racial grandchildren from such an interracial relationship just as you would White grandchildren?
You have my answer in last question.

First of all, I’m glad the P-D published this photo. It sure brings the narrow-minded bigots out in droves and shows them for THEIR true colors, which are far worse than any that could be on the skin.

If some St. Louisians are that racist, then quite honestly, they need it thrown in their faces so they can perhaps rid themselves of ignorance that has enabled them to think that sort of intolerance is OKAY. And I will bet that the majority of the numbskulls who contest the photo will also claim to be Christians. Hypocrites. GROW UP… to liken a black man kissing a white woman to the KKK or a bloody carcass is quite frankly, one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever heard. I bet you would be grossed out if there were a mentally handicapped person on the front too? Or someone who has a yarmulke on? Or someone with an anti-KKK shirt?

I’m incredibly ashamed that people like this live in America. I’m glad I was raised to not base hatred on things that don’t matter.

One thing that I have always loved about st. Louis is that I thought we were a city that accepted each other beyond race. IT is 2009!!! Have we not changed at all. I have always found acceptance in my interracial relationship in St. Louis and in the small Missouri town I go to school in. The fact that their are still people who can only see a person’s skin color makes me sad. We are all from one race, the human race. Discrimination is never acceptable. No wonder sometimes I look at this country and wonder why we are so backwords. If we can even see each other simply as human beings how can we have make social progress. I hope in St. Louis and around the country I see more pictures of couples that are interracial, black couples, asian couples, native american couples, and white couples. I hope that there is more progrees in the next fifty years that my children and grandchildren will not have to worry about being judged because they are from an interracial couple and hope for anyone who has a problem with this picture that you can take a look at yourself and begin to accept people as people and not judge them becuse they are not the same skin color as you.

I’m saddened by what I see in these comments. I don’t live in St. Louis, but I always had a good impression of the place, and thought it was inhabited by decent, tolerant, urbane people. But it seems in the safety and anonymity of the internet, crass ignorance and bigotry will out, even when it doesn’t make a lick of sense to anybody with half a brain.

The good people of St. Louis have my sincere condolences, for having to breathe the same air as such trash on a daily basis.

3:57 pm April 14th, 2009

I feel stupid, because I’m amazed at the outrage in some of the reactions. I have to check myself every once in a while. I’ve lived in St. Louis for almost 35 years now, but I’ve spent the vast majority of that time in University City, venturing out into other areas only when absolutely necessary. Given this lack of exposure to the rest of St. Louis it’s understandable that I just don’t see what all the fuss is about. I mean, are there really people out there who still think that people with different levels of pigment are a different species? What are we teaching in our schools? At home for that matter? I mean, it’s 2009 and an interracial couple in a large metropolitain city is taboo? How the hell did Obama ever get elected? This is just plain insane…I’m at a loss…

“where as a blk male/wf couple is seen as a desperate wf settling for who ever she can get and a blak male opportunist taking advantage of a womans’ loneliness”

I am greatly offended and hurt by this comment. I know many people who are in interracial relationships and as someone who is also in an interracial relationship this is just some lie. I do not know who sees bm and wf couples like this. I choose to be with my boyfriend. He did not take advantage of me and I was not desperate and lonely. Who I feel sorry for is anyone who really believes that these couples are together for this reason. Interracial couples are together for the same reason that same race couples are together, they love and care about each other, and all these comments make me sad. It makes me sad that there are people who are offended by me being with the person I love.

— Sarah
4:19 pm April 14th, 2009

Sarah, do not let people like that get under your skin. Take it from someone that has been in such a relationship for over 30 years now. Married for almost 30 of those years.
My wife loves me, I love her. That is all that matters to us. All the stares and weird comments we have gotten over the years matter not. What matters is our Love for each other. Our families love of us and our kids, who are all well adjusted adults now. The closed minded bigots will always be here. Do not let them dictate to you whom you love.
To those that are simply not attracted to a member of a different race. You are not bigots. Attraction knows no reason. We like what we like, pure and simple. Yes, my wife is considered white. But there are many many black, asian, indian, hispanic etc. woman that I am attracted to. Nia just has something more, to me, that any other woman. I can not even explain what it is. It just is. She is my world, my completion. Why? She just is.

— Sarah
3:35 pm April 14th, 2009″

Sarah, Why can’t you accept that the majority of the world does not see blak/white couples as “social progress”? most people see these couples as de-evolution. What you think is progress is actually “lowest common denominator” theory. See, basically what you are asking is for everyone to see doctors and teachers as being the same as mentally ill homeless bums, as being equals, but is that practical? can you respect a homeless bum the same way you respect a doctor/teacher? The homeless bum will never be a doctor/teacher, but doctors/teachers can easily end up as homeless bums, the lowest common denominator. while blaks can never be like whites, whites can end up being the same as blaks.

Despite your idealism, you have to accept that some human beings are different, and difference is the basis of discrimination, and it’s impossible to look past the differences between blaks and whites, That’s why so many whites do not approve of blak/white couples, did you ever consider that you are wrong?

Jews work at maintaining their purity/identity, yet no one accuses jews of being ignorant, do they?, are they wrong for doing so? Why is it wrong for whites to want to maintain their identity?

John,

To address your issue that this is a “public news media, just like television,” in this instance, there is a difference. The paper is private, but services the public. Television news is public (except for cable news), hence the ability to receive signals OTA (over the air, much like radio).

If you don’t like what your paper is showing you, don’t purchase the paper. Vote with your feet. Nothing has to be “shoved down your throat” like you may think it does. Exert some influence on the things that influence you.

Billybob, I will answer your question. No. I like you was born an American.
I like the freedoms we have here, I enjoy the conviences we have here, in short, I would not want to live anywhere else. Even the European countries, that are socially more advanced, or any Asian country. I have lived in many other countries in the past. I like the USA more than anywhere else. Not due to the color of the people here, but because it is home.

It seems that all of the scientific arguments against these unnatural pairings have been ignored or deleted by the P-D Liberal Censor trying to stack the deck in favor of the “Anything goes” - “If it feels good do it” crowd of social engineers and excuse-makers. The primary argument against this abomination is that it it compromises the advancement of society. Fact: The negroes typically score near the bottom in all standardized testing and objective measures of intellectual capacity. The majority of the predominantly negro school districts report below average scores in spite of receiving an inordinate amount of taxpayer dollars. This data is indicative of a lower intelligence quotient for this racial group. Conversely, the Caucasian school districts tend to score at the upper end of the range despite fewer resouces than are provided to the negro districts. An example of this is the East St Louis school district and some of the north county schools. Given these proven intellectual deficiencies in the negro group, it is only common sense and responsible societal behavor for intelligent whites not to reproduce with this group.
Society should be focused on advancement not devolution. At least the overwhelming majority of the population realizes this and avoids such behavior. Those that do engage in this perversion are typically the outcasts and rejects of society that are lashing out at the majority that shunned them.

For me, I think there’s a clear difference between people who do not find interracial relationships appealing and those who find it offensive. Either way, it’s their right and as long as they’re not hurting people it’s fine. If anything, I’m shocked that some people still find this gut-turning. I mean, sure it’s only been less than many people’s lifetime that this has become socially acceptable, but through it all all people are still people.

Part of me is thinking, “Only in St. Louis.” Another part of me is thinking, “This is the midwest - is anyone honestly surprised by the reaction?”

I can’t speak for the city itself, but I have lived in the surrounding area my whole life. There are still people of the older generation muttering about how they remembered a time when there were signs that said, “Nigger, don’t let the sun set on you here.” The newer generations of the midwest have grown up hearing sentiments like this, and we’re surprised when racism in the media comes up?

This mindset isn’t going to go away anytime soon, and it’s sad.

John:

Um, it’s the United States of America: if you want to publish something that offends other people, what’s stopping you? If you’ve got the money to do it, you can. Likewise, you get to sit back and enjoy this rather pleasant picture of a couple whose lives don’t even affect yours have a small smooch. The article is about kissing, and it’s a PG kiss. Don’t expect people to hide away their *gasp* interracial kiss if you don’t expect people in general to hide away their kissing. You can complain about it if you want–that’s your right and you already did–but I can complain back about the fact that nitwits like you ACTUALLY think that what they have to say is worthwhile. Pity it isn’t…

If your answer is no, why? how would you (a w/w)) explain to your blak husband why you turned down the promotion? be honest now!

George - you’re quite right to point out the lack of ‘outrage’ for the Asian/white pairing. Simply put, the southern tradition is more pointed toward racism toward blacks, and for whatever psychological reasons, it really gets pseudo-southern white racists in a huff and puff to see a black man with a white woman, whereas they are less prone to raise cain about other races. Anyway, I am sure there is some factor of sexual jealousy and stereotypes at work in that as well.

Billybob - You’re point is trivial. You seem to be confirming - stating the obvious - that someone might be less prone to move to higher crime areas (DC is NOT a good example by the way). I mean, who wants to live in borderline unsafe or depressed areas anyway if he/she is some sort of ‘professional’ as in your absurd hypothetical? This proves nothing. If it were me, I wouldn’t want to move near a white trailer park for a promotion either: a. cause I don’t want to live next to a trailer park and b. because there are likely to be poorer depressed drug-addled alcoholics living there who may want to either rob me or, well, annoy the hell out of me. My decision would have nothing to do with race and everything to do with economics and way of life issues.

I wouldn’t take a promotion to rural China either but that doesn’t mean I fear the chinese.

Anyway, what passes for points here is getting tiresome.

It obviously says more about the psychology, the inbred racism, and/or relative lack of education of the person who is outraged by this photo. There is no bigger point to make about anything, including the laughable one about ‘divorce rates.’ What a joke? What we are meant to believe that what motivates this outrage is really a concern for healthy and long lasting marriages??? WTF.

I feel bad for St. Louis cause this certainly is an unfortunate reflection on some of its population - however unfair that is if you think about it, since it’s probably only a handful (that is, five trailer parks) of people who are dumb enough or hateful enough to think this way.

Loads of whites live in Washington DC. There are entire neighborhoods where you will see only whites and there are neighborhoods you will see whites and blacks (Takoma for example). Also know loads of whites and Asians living in Richmond, CA. Blacks are only 36%. New Orleans has become more and more white as blacks left after Katrina. I would not live in other cities but I would not live in Huntington Beach, Simi Valley, CA, Mountain Brook, AL, Elwood, IN, Tipton, IN, English, IN, Martinsville, IN and other redneck white towns either. My favorite town is Honolulu, HI..not many whites or blacks here. It shows..Most of the crime is confined to stabbing
instead of shooting.

billybob,

I actually would move to Africa. I am a black person, but there are actually a lot of white people who live in Sub-Saharan Africa, for a variety of reasons. As for those US cities/neighborhoods you have mentioned, there has to be actual jobs there before anyone moves there. Also, while many whites simply don’t want to live near blacks, many whites simply don’t want to live in areas with concentrated poverty, high crime, and infrastructure collapse.

Also, racial integration in neighborhoods in urban areas are growing. In St. Louis City, racial integration is growing, especially in the central corridor. This pattern is apparent in most large urban areas in the US.

In fact, the influx of middle class to wealthy whites into traditionally impoverished black regions has created a new issue called gentrification. Some blacks are opposed to white people (and even wealthier black people) moving into their neighborhoods. The fact that gentrification is even an issue proves that a lot of white people ARE willing to move into majority black neighborhoods.

(I’m not speaking for Mick, but I will offer this reply.)
I know for a fact that Wash. DC schools receive more than double the per student funding of any other school in the country at about $16k/student/yr., and if you ad in all the administrative costs, like metal detectors and security guards and vandalism etc. it jumps to about $25k/student/yr., and yet despite the huge amount of money thrown at these blak students, they are at the bottom of every measure, I think the grad. rate is only 25%.

as for genetic evidence, exhibit a: africa, look at the level of advancement and civilization in africa, despite being the oldest of all races. the ave IQ for all of sub saharan africa is 67, for american blaks, only about 80.

Since you place so much trust in IQ scores, do you believe that Asians are superior to Whites? If you do, do you believe that in 50 years time, China and Japan will have left the the US and Europe far behind. Many people believe that the 21st century will be China’s century; they believe that the global center of power will shift to the Far East. And if that does happen, then they will effectively control America through both military might, more advanced technology, and far better strategy and tactics. When you look at California, there is a new “white flight” emerging. Not from public schools with underperforming black students, but overperforming Asian students. Parents worry that their kids will feel intellectually inferior to the Asian kids in these now majority Asian schools. Believing that IQ is destiny means accepting the idea that China is destined to take over Western Civilization.

I don’t trust IQ scores, and neither do most scientists. I have posted some of my arguments below.

1. The Flynn Effect - It has been observed that each decade, the IQ for all demographics have risen by 3 points. However, each decade, the scores are re-normalized back to 100. So, here in 2010 (just pretend that it is 2010 since we have less than a year to go) kids are 15 IQ points more intelligent than they were in 1960. That is too fast of a rise to be attributed to genetics alone. Also, since the commonly accepted IQ difference between blacks and whites is 15, a black kid born today would be as intelligent as a white kid born in 1960.

2. The same pattern can be observed in all nations. The group in power has an average IQ 15 points higher than the oppressed group. In Japan, for instance, the gap between the native Japanese and immigrant Koreans is similar. But when comparing Korea and Japan as a whole, their IQs are more similar, and Korean and Japanese immigrants to the US score the same. This example applies for much of the world.

3. During WWII, Northern Blacks scored higher on IQ tests than Southern Whites.

4. Blacks have gained 5 - 6 IQ points on whites between 1972 and 2002 (Dickens, Flynn; 2006).

5. A 1997 WashU study shows that, “Black college graduates make greater IQ gains during their college careers than their White counterparts according to a new study. Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis found that Blacks who graduate from college increase their IQ scores more than four times as much as Whites while in college. And that actually narrows the gap between Blacks and Whites in IQ scores by as much as half. In high school, the researchers said, the gap between the IQs of Black and White students actually gets wider.”

6. This is not directly related to IQ. While American blacks tend to do worse academically, immigrant blacks perform as well as (or even better than) Asians. The highest educated ethnic groups in both the US and the UK are African and Asian.

These are some of the reasons why I don’t put that much trust in IQ scores. And that is also why mixing blacks and whites will not produce kids dumber than their white parents.

Maybe you don’t trust IQ scores because you don’t understand them. IQ scores are independent of education, going to college for four years does not raise your IQ, this is especially true for blaks, as the brains of blaks stop developing at about 12 yo, much earlier than other races. IQ is not age related either, your IQ at 9 will be the same as it is at 29 or 49. If you don’t like IQ tests, pull out MCAT results from recent years, you will find blaks score dramatically lower (40%+) than other races, and keep in mind the blaks taking MCAT’s have been in college for at least 3-4 years, and have taken special prep courses, these are the best of the blak race. Don’t like the MCAT’s? White’s from families earning less than $10k/yr. score substantially better on SAT’s than do blaks coming from families making over $100k/year.
And I really don’t believe your statements about african blaks scoring better than asians and whites, it just doesn’t make sense, given the primitive development of africa. Imean where have they been hiding?

Thegoviskillingme,

Surprise, surprise, surprise, I am the Black mother of bi-racial children and, my daughter-in-law is White who is the mother of my only grandchild. I love and accept my bi-racial children and my granddaughter so much that words cannot describe. My granddaughter is very much loved by her four grandmothers, one Black, one White and one being a White step-grandmother, one being a Black West Indies, step-grandmother. We all get along great and fight for our time with our granddaughter. Even her White great grandparents have her come to Florida two visit them every year. And her White grandfather and his wife takes her to church with them often.

AND, YOU DID NOT ANSWER MY QUESTION! Now, do you love your Black grandson as if he was an extension of YOU! Do you love him just as much as your WHITE children or grandchildren with no regard of his race because I can say with all honesty that that is how things are with two of my children.

I live in no La La Land concerning bi-racial children and racism. My youngest child who is also bi-racial I must raise to cope in positive ways concerning his own father concerning racism and the role it has played with his father not being part of his life. And, it is a story made for a movie. Just unbelievable!

I can tell you from my personal experience, friendships and distant family members who are bi-racial that bi-racial children DO NOT HAVE ISSUES because of being bi-racial when they are loved by their own family members, parents and grandparents, cousins, etc.

By the way one of my very good friends and her sister who are bi-racial are extremely unhealthy mentally and struggle much with depression. Their White mother’s family is very racist with views much like the ones that you express have made her bi-racial children mentally ill and suicidal adults. Their White mother did not understand the importance and need to protect her daughters from her racist family by cutting them off from herself and them until her bi-racial children and surrounding them and integrating them in a more accepting atmosphere until they were old enough to not be damaged by her White racist family. I know racism and its effects upon people and most awful, children and I have no tolerance of racism and call it out when I see it and to HELL with ones feelings concerning this subject because of the damages that I know it have caused children and people I love dearly.

And you “Thegoviskillingme” as you put it earlier, if you have any fear of God, you have better pray to HIM to change those sick racist views that are poisoning your heart before you damage your Black grandson.

Standardized tests do not measure I.Q.

Most people have never had a I.Q. test so there is no way anyone can say what the rcentage of entary school students in third grade and seventh grade to put to end the racist view that Blacks are not as smarter or as capable of learning as Whites.

Billybob,
Sorry, the above posted by mistake and without completion as I was drafting it. I was saying:
Standardized tests do not measure I.Q.
Most people have never had a I.Q. test, so there is no way anyone can say what the percentage or average I.Q is for any race. I think that all elementary school students should be given I.Q. tests in third grade and again in seventh grade to put to end the racist view that Blacks are not as smart or as capable of learning as Whites. It is just plain ridiculous. If such were done for all students it would put a end to this non-sense and some hard ugly truths would have to be faced concerning this great American society of our regarding Blacks in America.

First off Billy Bob comparing race to social class is two diffrent things. I was saying that you should not judge someone by what they are born with. As a future teacher myself I am working hard to have that position of an educator. I was not born a teacher I have had to work in high school and now in college to accomplish my goals. Just like a bum is not neccessarily born a bum. They do not work hard or they have addictions and lose their home. Race is something you are born into. It is chance. For this reason you can not look down on someone because of what they were born into or with. Should I begin to think lower of everyone that is born with blue eyes. That would be the same as thinking someone is below you because they are another race, they had no control over that. The comment about Jewish people who marry and date within their religion and no one gets upset with them is becuase they do NOT judge people who choose to date outside their race. They simply make their own decision to date within their race and religion. I would never say bad things about someone who decides they are not attracted to someone outside their race. Each person has diffrent things they are attracted to. It is the people who judge others who date outside the race that upsets me.

I first want to say that standarized test are horrible indicators of a child’s progress. If I was able to I would get rid of these horrible test all together. I have been tested continously throughout my life because I had the joy of attending public school. I continue to take standarized test in college. They are alot of pressures and do not take into account students who are bad test takers. The reason minorities typically do not do well on these test is because many if not most are in failing schools. It is not the child’s fault but the education system in general.

*****What this comes down to: There are too many judgements happening and not enough tolerance. If you do not like interracial relationships than do not get into one and stop talking bad about others who choose to be in one. We are happy and if you are not than I don’t care.*****

I think this photo is absolutely beautiful and I see no reason for anyone to take offense. I am married to a wonderful man who is everything I could ever have asked for and more. He is black, I am white. Our children are mixed (as is our President). Why does anyone still judge a person by their skintone? Don’t you realized that the only real difference between any of us is a small link of our genetic code? Why can’t we celebrate the little difference that we have rather than use it as a reason to discriminate? I say KUDOS to this couple and any others that face trials and tribulations because they are not “the same”. Keep pressing forward and eventually perhaps others will see that it’s love that matters, not color of skin.

— Jan
1:47 am April 15th, 2009

Some commenters claim to be interested in having a “discussion” about this “issue.” Apparently the problem is that they are offended, and that they should never be offended. “Why isn’t everyone else supposed to accept my opinion on the matter?” one asks.

Because that would be stupid. No one has a right not to be offended. I suspect many of the negative commenters hold the Second Amendment in high regard, and I would suggest they take a moment to consider the First. If you don’t like being offended by things, it’s high past time to stick your head in the ground. Or grow up.

— Mike
2:11 am April 15th, 2009

On a more direct note, it also happens that opponents are wrong. Now, granted, that’s just *my* opinion, but fortunately I happen to have better reasons. Because separating people based on background is inherently arbitrary, because reflexively viewing relationships through a racial lens debases them, and because denying others what you are unable to imagine for yourself is vain and cruel, opposition to mixed-race couples is wrong. Because we are all equal as human beings, because we all have vastly more in common in spite of our inherited differences, and because the deepest relationships are rooted in character, opposition to mixed-race couples is wrong.

By all means, opponents can continue to be wrong, and opponents can continue to think I and others are wrong. They can continue to be offended, and we will continue to be offended that such people continue to exist. The vast majority of us, however, believe it’s fairly insane to turn a harmless feature on making out into an unwanted expose of America’s remaining racists. Fortunately, since opponents are in the (blessedly diminishing) minority, magazines will publish such salacious material as blacks and whites kissing, and eventually the day will come when the only thing offensive about it is the memory that so many people were once so shallow.

— Mike

Its just a cover….its just a kiss…its the 21st century. You watch a movie you see people kissing, you walk outside you see the same thing, even fairy tales have a part where they kiss. The idea of an interracial couple kissing shouldn’t bring up a 21 comment page controversy. As long as they are a happy couple, I think its unfair for people getting into their business.

Mr. Walker

I say to you I do no harm to know one, black, white, yellow, brown and red.
You Mr Walker do more harm to the above colors then anything I could say.
You make excuses for them. I understand why you do, but you don’t. You mask it all under this GOD thing and Black THANG.This is not race thing for me, this is a survival of a culture, my culture. That Black Grandson is being raised by its single mother because its Father “sperm donor” made a decision to alienate himself from the child. So the mother is giving him an education in “Blackness” He speaks like a white child, he can pronounce the word “ASK” not “AX” he understand that children that look like him are different. They act differently. When I’m around him he never hears the “N” word Never. He has asked me what it means, why? Because those Black children he goes to school with use it all the time. So I do know why black children do the things they do! They have Black Parent/s Grandparent/s they teach them how to fail, how to PIMP how to be “BLACK” when Black people start raising their children to be human beings instead of being black, this race crap will vanish.

This will be my last response to you on the question

I hope one day but I don’t count on it; my Grandchild who is bi-racial will be that first one. He does have a better shot because he has Caucasian intelligence surging in his blood.
He’s something you can do when you start your teaching career. Start to personally track you students from 1st grade to eight grade. You’ll see that even you the smart new teacher can’t change an outcome of failure from “a group” of people that don’t have the aptitude to absorb the material presented. “I am not supposed to do, say or show pictures of things that offend you, but why can you say, do and show pictures of things that offend me? Can someone please come up with an intelligent answer?”

First, John, can you give us an intelligent answer to the question: How is this picture offensive to you?

First of the gov is killing me you spelled my name wrong…sorry that is just a pet peeve of mine. Second, I sit in classes everyday and we learn about the constant flaws in America’s education system. There are many factors why many students do not do well and it makes me sad to see that once again there are people who only see race. If more people could be positive influences on these students than maybe they would have a higher chance of success. Third I feel sorry for any bi-racial grandchildren you may have. With an attitude like yours they will have a lot of trouble accepting who they are.

Unbelievable! I cannot believe that a picture as innocent as this one is causing any sort of “controversy”. What is happening in Missouri that this is even an issue??? It’s a sad, pathetic statement on the type of person that lives here. Even sadder is that now that this has made national news- the entire country will think all of Saint Louis, Missouri feels this way and that you all are a bunch of uneducated, backward bigots. I know that this isn’t the case as I lived there for the first 25 years of my life but too bad the rest of the country will think differently. I’m usually proud to tell anyone I meet that I’m from Saint Louis- but now… no longer.

4:33 pm April 15th, 2009

“Mick, can you provide evidence that black school districts receive more tax dollars?”

Yes - The East St Louis high school system’s cost per student is approximately five times higher than the white metro-east schools and the scores they report are at the bottom of the chart. They also have the highest dropout rate in the area. This is an obscene waste of taxpayer dollars

Additionally, I read several lame attempts to rebut my factual statements. All of these uneducated responses are based on obfuscation, diversion, distraction, rationalization etc. I am convinced there is no amount of valid statistical, scientific, or anecdotal data that will change the misguided mindsets that believe crossbreeding with lower intellect individuals will not compromise the intellectual traits of the offspring or impact the advancement of society. Clearly these people slept through their biology class in high school and are totally clueless when it comes to the science of genetics. Statistics was another sleeper for them because they can’t comprehend the data provided by the govt. and the NEA. What a sorry collection of uninformed excuse-makers, contaminating this blog with idiocy and confused by a bizarre penchant for defending degenerate perversion, bordering on bestiality.

Billybob: Good responses. Continue to take the high road.

Mick,
I have tried my best to stay silent on your rants, but now, comparing interracial relationships to beastiality? That I can not stay silent on.
My wife and I are not rejects from our races. We are both intelligent upstanding hardworking individuals. Before you say it, we are not outside the norm. My I.Q. has been measured at 128. Nia’s at 132. Makes sense, she is smarter than me, she is a Nurse practitioner. We are perverts, stuff it redneck, sorry to all the rednecks out there, comparing Mick to you.
All the studies you have sited are from the 30’s and 40’s, when putting down other races was accepted social science. Hope the meetings go well, got another cross to burn?
Now, I am done with you. Talking with people such as you is akin to talking to a brick wall. Accomplishes nothing. A practice of futility.
Oh, by the way, my father was an engineer on the Mercury and Gemini programs, as well as the F-15 and others. My Mother taught English Lit on the college level. Wash out U to be exact. So I come by it naturally. So much for genetics saying we are a lower animal, Huh redneck.

My God come out of the closet the fact the there is a Negro race tells you there was a whole lot of white and black mixing going on, way before President Obama. What gets me is why does it upset some people, when it’s a black man and a white woman but it doesn’t bother them half as much, when it’s the other way around. Face it, It’s like the election of our president has made it alright to show love is love and people are people but For those of you who can’t stand to see all the mixing going on, you better close your eyes because I got a feeling, you haven’t seen nothing yet and it’s about time!

Mick I feel sad for you. The fact that you are so racist you are keeping yourself from meeting and getting to know amazing individuals. Some of the smartest people I know are black. I feel sorry for you.

“All the studies you have sited are from the 30’s and 40’s, when putting down other races was accepted social science.”

Thomas: The educational data and statistics are current and factual. You and many others here remain in a fixated state of denial and delusion. This is likely a subconscious attempt to rationalize these painful and obvious facts.
Additionally, you are a statistical anomaly, an outlier on the Bell Curve of minority intellectual measurement. If your information is accurate, congratulations, I guess.
This is your second out-of-control meltdown on this blog. You obviously harbor some deep-seated animosity to people of differing points of view.
With comments like, “Redneck” and “Saving your worthless hides,” you sound very hostile and savage, almost beast-like, in your communications. Such behavior is very uncivilized, rude, and intolerant.

Interracial relationships present a disinterest in societal integrity and morals. One who engages in miscegenation and relations with people of different races have no concern for their kids. These people are the lowest of humans on the ladder. Portraying this on top of a obviously well known magazine degrades the magazine integrity. The magazine should issue an apology to all those offended. We are bombarded by interracial relationships on a daily basis and eventually we will draw the line and finish the job.

— John
7:23 pm April 15th, 2009

“even the meth smoking, trailer park rednecks portrayed in these comments.”
“We teach our children tolerance ”

What type of tolerance do you teach your children? For example if a Asian or African man or woman said he or she wanted an Asian or African child because they want their children to share in that part of their identity, would that be a wonderful praiseworthy thing deserving of tolerance? But if a European man or woman said he or she wanted a European son or daughter that would be a meth smoking supremacist trailer park redneck Nazi trash type of remark.

It sounds like a very selective form of tolerance to me. Why is that so? I think a people reproducing themselves and teaching their kids that there’s some value in who they are is a pretty basic Human right, perhaps the most basic of all Human rights. There’s beauty in all Humanity, but this seems to only be a Human right that applies to certain groups of people and not to my my group, which is concerning to me.

You have children who look for all intents and purposes as though you are not their mother. That’s okay, but why should I be forced to live in a society where it’s shoved down my children’s throats that they must do the same? All I want is the ability to teach my children that there’s value in being who they are as well, not that they are superior but that they are equal. But your “tolerance” doesn’t include that, perhaps because in your heart you’re not a tolerant person at all.

— Sebastian
7:35 pm April 15th, 2009

“With comments like, “Redneck” and “Saving your worthless hides,” you sound very hostile and savage, almost beast-like”

Good point. It’s always a speech about tolerance followed up by “You worthless redneck sub-Human, how dare you, don’t you know it’s 2009.”

I grew up with two of my three closest friends being part Asian and part Black and it never made a difference to me, it didn’t even occur to me. The reason I get called a redneck, worthless, sub-Human, Nazi, is because I say “people of European descent have a right to exist just as much as Blacks and Asians.”

That’s it. For saying that we shouldn’t be reduced to minorities throughout Europe within a period of two generations I am called every hateful derogatory name in the book and referred to as less than Human or as Orwell would say an animal who’s less equal than others. But such is life for a White person in 2009, I guess it’s like that old Chinese proverb about the curse of living in interesting times.

Race mixing is the cause of great civilisations like Egypt,Greece, Britain,America downfalls.

All race mixers should be made to live in other racially mongrelised countries such as mexico, middle east, brazil.

Race mixers produce low iq’d mongrel children that do not resemble themselves.

Race mixers are nothing to be idolised as they are nothing but genocidal maniacs.

Race mixers spit on their racial forebares graves.

They are dead branches on their family trees.

Look at the American president mr umm, mr ummm, mr ummm obama. What a low iqd mongrelised jew he is.His mother was jewish.Meaning he has some semite in him.meaning his mother was not 100% white but has semite blood.

Race is real, we didnt all come from africa, race is more than skin deep and we whites should have the right to live in white only communities just like the asians ,negros and jews.FREE FROM SELF HATING ,SOCIAL EXPERIMENTING LIBERAL WHITE GENOCIDAL MANIACS WHO SUPPORT THE GENOCIDE OF THEIR OWN KIN THROUGH RACE MIXING.

SO RACE MMIXERS GO LIVE IN MULTIRACIAL,MEXICO,BRAZIL AND MIDDLE EAST AND PRACTISE WHAT YOU PREACH.

STOP TRYING TO TURN WHITE COMMUNITIES INTO LOW IQD NONN WHITE COMMUNITIES.

Mick is right on his observations about public school funding, and the pattern repeats itself in the same exact manner in every area with comparable populations, such as Washington D.C. which has the highest per capita funding of any school district in the U.S.
The worst case is when the ones that have engaged in this aberrant behavior pretend they are somehow better than those that actually have a sense of pride in themselves and who they are, those that don’t want to bastardize their progeny.

One day, when her children ask her why they don’t look like her, she can show them a picture of their father as an explanation.

One shouldn’t have to be a WN, to just look at that picture, and just know in their gut, “that just ain’t right.”

I think most of the time, it’s not just a case of sick liberalism…

I think it’s a purpose-filled agenda…

1. Tacit apathy (the majority, sadly)
2. Leftist cheerleading for sexual perversion
3. Rational opposition to the propaganda

They did it for shock value and it worked, doesn’t make it right at all, but that’s why it’s done. Easy fix here, encourage everyone you know in the area to drop their subscription to the Post-Dispatch. Criticism is something they may not acknowledge but money is something they understand.

John,
I don’t think anyone has a right NOT to be offended. I take your point that it seems like a double standard. This includes people like me, who would be offended by some of the things you mentioned. On the other hand, I think everyone has the right to complain about things that offend them, but not to do anything besides complain (like demand an apology).

“Racism” is a concept and word that has it’s roots in communism. The term “racism” was first used in 1922
in France by Leon Trotsky. I refer you to the following article:

Communist Origin of the Term “Racism”

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m…i_mark08045312

In short, “racism” is a politically abused term to inaccurately describe ethnocentrism, which most people are.
The communists saw ethnocentrism and pro-nationalist views as “dangerous” to their objectives. Therefore, the
term “racism” was created and used to condemn, slander, discredit and ostracize people who dared to hold such
views.

Incidentally, the term “racism” didn’t even find it’s way into the English language until 1936. I also refer
you to the following article:

The Origins of “Racism” in the West: The Curious Beginnings of a Useless Word

http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives…igins_of_1.php

It’s certainly by no coincidence that the term “racism” became a dirty word during and after the Civil Rights
movement in America, since it was Jews and communists (communism essentially being a Jewish phenomenon) who
played instrumental roles in orchestrating the Civil Rights movement in America.

Jews, Blacks, Communism and the Civil Rights Movement

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/show…73#post5309473

In short: We’re not communist constructs. We’re free-thinking white people. We’re racial realists. I think
most people are, especially when we remove political correctness from the equation. That begs the question,
what is political correctness and why is it necessary?

A Racial Program for the Twentieth Century, 1912

“We Jews must realize that our party’s most powerful weapon is racial tensions. By propounding into the consciousness of the dark races that for centuries they have been oppressed by whites, we can mold them to the program of the Communist Party. In America we will aim for subtle victory.

While inflaming the Negro minority against the whites, we will endeavor to instill in the whites a guilt complex for their exploitation of the Negros. We will aid the Negroes to rise in prominence in every walk of life, in the professions and in the world of sports and entertainment.

With this prestige, the Negro will be able to intermarry with the whites and begin a process which will deliver America to our cause.”

Really “unbelievable” and others? You can’t believe that in 2009 White people would become upset over the flaunting of the GENOCIDE of their race and culture by a group of people who are GUILTY of that same crime under CURRENT international law?

It isn’t our fault that you people either HATE White people and want to see us exterminated for the sins of our fathers, or you are so brainwashed you don’t even realize when your own group is under clear and present danger!

White people think about the following, I beg of you…

Is anything which IS NOT protected by LAW sustainable? Yes or no? Well is the White race protected by LAW and by USE OF FORCE?

Your lousy “property” is, but why isn’t your race? How can you value one so highly and completely disregard the other? Bet you never thought about that, did you? And, in case you haven’t noticed, you are losing your precious “money” property right now to a gang of International Banking Criminals.

So when they take your money, and your race, and your culture; exactly what will you have left?

I’ve grown to despise the Founding Generation of this WORTHLESS piece-of-garbage nation. They didn’t have to put up with crap like this. They didn’t have to witness this, and worse, listen to brain-washed White apologists.

I consider them cowards on the highest order. They were protected, but they left NO PROTECTION for me, only a vague reference to their “posterity” in the preamble to the Constitution. If they change a few words in that document, the world is a far, far better place for me and hundreds of millions of other White people.

Now we have NOTHING and are being slowly exterminated. Do any of you IDIOTS even know that Europe is also being invaded? Do you? Do you even know the last White person is set to be born around the year 2200?

The last one! You will save the dolphins, you will save the whales, but you don’t give a damn about your own people? You are under MIND CONTROL! Wake up and protect yourself. Protect your group rights as vigorously as you protect your individual rights.

There is not a single country in the world where we can go to feel safe and protected. There is no White Homeland.

I/we have a RIGHT to White Homelands. Period! The U.S. is worthless, is makes no effort to protect that which is actually most IMPORTANT. And that is why it failed as a state so quickly. This failed nation can’t last much longer.

And I say, good riddance to bad rubbish! If you are White and still “love” America, you are a brainwashed idiot and a stain on history. Ask yourself, what has “America” done for YOU lately, YOU personally, for your traditional, non-poisoned culture, for YOUR RACE!

This country is so anti-White I fully expect it to become policy in the next decade for the non-White controlled government to take White people away to the FEMA camps and put them to death, FOR BEING WHITE!

It hasnt been proven to be inaccurate at all.Wishful thinking on the part of the liberal ignorants.

Take a look at Europe compare it with africa.

zimbabwe, south africa when controlled by whites was the breadbasket of the world. Now under black leadership its starving to death.

matter of fact everywhere low iqd negros inhabit the society around them crumbles.

The bronx was once a nice white dutch area, now filled with negros its gangbangers paradise.Same as with once beautiful detroit.

Oh and by the way, martin luther king was an anti white communist fraud.Who delighted in sodomising white females.Kings speec hes were written by jewish communist pigs who continue to destroy white America as we speak.JEWISH SEMITES ALSO BROUGHT THE MAJORITY OF NEGRO SLAVES TO AMERICA, NOT WHITES.

I believe the magazine was fully aware of the ”shock value” it was presenting. Stirs controversy. I am a racially aware person. The planet’s Anglo or white population is presently down to 7%. I have great pride in my innovative and productive race. I believe our initiative is what brought mankind out of the mudhuts into the space age. I believe media is on an a deliberate attack on the sanctity of the hetero anglo couple, implying that that miscegnation is the norm. What was quoted 7% of populace is mixed race couples, that meant that the production photographer went an extra effort to find the interacial couple. Plus, Do you read the unfiltered news? are the you aware of the Black on white rapes that are being perpetrated in this nation, it’s disgusting, and you in your liberalness have a hand in promoting this kind of behavior. Yes we do have a bi-racial president, whose black father abandoned him at an early age and then his race mixing mother deposited him on her parents before she deserted him. You want to promote this and hold it in esteem. Wake up. Your liberal tendancies will be our epitaph

I am neither a subscriber to Go! Magazine nor do I live in the St. Louis area, so I was only made aware of this “controversy” via a media e-newsletter.

Coincidentally, I just finished a discussion pertaining to the fact that human beings, fundamentally, come from the same makeup. It is a sad, sad world that we live in when we choose not to look past the colour of skin. Black or White, this does not define a person’s value and it is not indicative of whether the individual is good…kind…caring…and based on many of the comments I have read here, intelligent and tolerant.

Perhaps I am blessed to live in one of the most multicultural cities in the world (yes, I do see this as a blessing!) where diversity is celebrated rather than jeered and where, for the overwhelming majority, there is a focus on relevant issues such as poverty, racism, and homelessness rather than a concern with who is kissing who.

John, I must confess that I find your comparisons extremely disturbing and, frankly, nonsensical. To suggest that a Black man and a White woman engaged in a lip-lock is akin to a picture of “a guy with a bloody deer carcass” or “an all white baseball league supported by the KKK”…a comparison to an image of the KKK? Really? Well, yes, I would hope that most people would take offense to hatred and violence perpetrated by one community onto another.

It is too bad that I had to come home from a great day to find this issue — in this day and age — waiting for me in my inbox.

John you disgust me. Never in my life have I been so offended. If a child is loved and taken care of, isn’t that what matters. We are all faced with struggles and battles caused by things are parents have done even if they thought they were doing their best. But to say that two people who love, care about each other, and have a good relationship do not think about their children because they are of two diffrent races is a horrible thing to say. I grew up in a neighborhood where many children were bi-racial children. They have all come from loving homes and are doing very well. You sadden me.

“It is too bad that I had to come home from a great day to find this issue — in this day and age — waiting for me in my inbox.
— Jacqueline”

To Jacqueline…

I feel the same way. I can’t have even a SINGLE DAY of enjoyment in my life now, because I know my race, the White Race, has been targeted for ELIMINATION from this planet; and half the White people actually support this outcome, because they have been brainwashed by Marxist propaganda.

Diversity is a lie. Diversity is the codeword used as cover for the DESTRUCTION of White, Christian, Western Civilization. And I am FED UP with it.

I will NOT pay taxes to a government which supports people who do NOTHING but attack everything I hold dear every single day. That isn’t freedom, that is SLAVERY!

No man, no real man would put up with it. But we live in a conquered nation, a mind-controlled vassal state.

I will NOT serve in the traitorous U.S. armed forces. I will NOT send my children to public school to be brainwashed. I despise the secret power behind the government of this once-great nation.

The U.S. is EVIL. I can see that now. I used to laugh at those who said “Death to America”, now I join their refrain.

Every day they shove their power in our face. The slut White female with her “black boyfriend”, or her mixed-race child on television shows, in commercials, and in movies. These GENOCIDAL tyrants hide behind the full force of the U.S. government! Where is MY PROTECTION? Where is the protection for WHAT I LOVE? This country is HELL, a living HELL. The U.S. is now NOTHING BUT SLAVERY for any White person who is even semi-aware of the GENOCIDE being committed against his people.

These EVIL people have the power to destroy the White race, one weak-minded, thought-controlled White female at a time. And they are doing it. Their plan is going ahead full speed. The enemy strikes where their opponent is most vulnerable, inside the mind of the domesticated, indoctrinated, submissive female.

And most of you have never even considered such thoughts. You don’t even realize you are under attack, because they took control of your mind through magazines such as this, and newspapers, radio and television decades ago.

You are pathetic. You allow others to define what makes you a “good person” and that definition just happens to include the destruction of everything you love. You will go down in history as a joke among the people of history.

White people who still have control of their own minds and their own thoughts, join me now in praying for FREEDOM from the tyranny which the Anglo-American-Israel evil empire, bent on the destruction of Western Civilization, now inflicts upon us!

By any means necessary!

I don’t want to entertain your comments — they are pure rubbish. Except to say that I’m sorry you possess such animosity toward your country and the world that you inhabit.

I’m not American, but I know the United States well, and have traveled around the globe engaging — and learning from — a multiplicity of cultures. Most who I have met have been open-minded, tolerant, and filled with love. I choose to embrace them, and your CAPITAL letters and slander could and would never make me feel otherwise.

“Wow Bob, well said, my friend. In all actuality, I am one of the strongest, most empowered females/persons I know and, at 23 years of age, I know myself quite well, thank you very much.”

With all due respect dear Jackie, I doubt you have an original thought in your head. You’ve been programmed, literally from birth, as was I. Programmed by television, by radio, by pop music, by MTV, by your parents, and by your peers at the Marxist schools. Ever think to ask yourself WHY Marx called for public schooling of all children?

I, and a growing number of others, have only having recently been able to break free and deprogram, because finally we were able to see a world irreconcilable with the propaganda, and with the advent of the internet, which freed us from the bondage of the controlled corporate media monopoly in the U.S.

Such is the nature propaganda, eventually the lies become so obvious people start to awaken to the reality.

I’m sure you’re very strong honey. Probably without a husband, probably had two abortions, maybe killed a half-black baby? Yeah you are a real tough target, when protected by the state. And what happens when your “loving” government breaks down? What happens during a depression when your little paper-work do-nothing job goes away during orchestrated economic contraction?

Are you going to find yourself a “loving” black pimp to protect you then? Or are you going to give even more power over to the same state which as already indicated it will not protect your race or your culture from attack?

“I don’t want to entertain your comments — they are pure rubbish. Except to say that I’m sorry you possess such animosity toward your country and the world that you inhabit.”

That is the different between your ilk, and mine. I/we don’t discount our enemies dogma as “rubbish” and dismiss it. I see it for what it is, a cold, clear, calculated plan to destroy me and everything I love.

Please be honest enough with yourself to admit that people do wage war against each other on this planet. That people of one group have tried, failed, and succeeded in taking control away from other groups, and making them their vassals, serfs, thrall or slaves.

I invite you to first show me the “guarantee” that NO ONE even wants to attack, defeat and enslave the White race; and further, the “guarantee” it can never and will never happen.

I know your type, you travel the world thinking you are safe, you are in control, everything is fine. I’ll wager the Aztec king thought he, his empire and his race was invulnerable the day before he received word of the arrival of Cortes.

Good for them. I used to be “happy” too, then I woke up and realized how the world really works. Live in denial if you want. That is their main weapon against the White race. Are you even aware these countries you visit and learn from are almost assuredly, to a one, vassal states of the Anglo-American-Israeli empire?

Their populations being economically exploited by the same people now destroying America and Western Europe for fun and profit! You probably think me full of “hate”, and you admire the work of the World Bank, which “loans” money to the poor third-world countries to show they “care”.

Wake up, why do you think they are STILL third-world countries?

Cheers!

“P.S. I have lived in Europe. Have you? Which invasion are you referring to, prey tell?”

I see you are a person who either plays games or lives in denial. Can you really be unaware of the utter invasion of non-Whites now plaguing and RUINING Europe?

It’s going to lead to mass exile, war or worse. And the blood will be on the hands of you do-gooder, useful idiots. Do you really think, in a nuclear age, a group of White people aren’t going to one day wake up, look around, see White women being raped by groups of non-Whites, see Mosques where their churches were, feel the whip of Sharia law, and NOT nuke their own capitols in a final act of defiance against the tyranny?

It’s not a question of if, but when. So enjoy your life while you can you stupid tart; your culture, everything you love, was sold out long before you were even born.

I fully expect to be MURDERED by own government before my natural time to go, and for no other crime but speaking out against the GENOCIDE of the White race. But at least I will die with the knowledge of what is really going on, not like those poor souls who died on 9-11 not having a clue what was actually happening.

Oh and p.s., the CIA & Mossad pulled that little job, in case the wisdom you’ve acquired in your vast travels and all 23 years hadn’t already made that clear to you.

Coincidentally, I just finished a discussion pertaining to the fact that human beings, fundamentally, come from the same makeup. It is a sad, sad world that we live in when we choose not to look past the colour of skin.

===

My god, jaquiline may know herself but she doesnt know anything else obviously. Her posts are what is wrong with the white folks today.Pure utter ignorance of reality. She speaks of growing up in a mongrelised society where they were all loved and raised by loving parents.Too bad the reality of this comment is far from what she states. The more mongrelised a society becomes the more alienated, the more crime, the more unloving it becomes. Its as simple as this race mixing causes the genocide of the races. If you want to race mix,by all means that is your decision but go practise what you preach and live in an already racially mixed society.Whites in 1930’s were over 33% of the worlds population.Today around 8%.Whites will be minorities in America, Australia, England ,France within 40years.They also plan on bringing another 50million negroes into Europe to quicken the process of white genocide.White women are being targetted for rapes by non whites not only in America but in every single white country on this planet that is forced to accept the multicultural policy.STOP WHITE GENOCIDE NOW ,DONT RACE MIX.

RACE IS MORE THAN SKIN DEEP

Race is nothing to do with colour of skin, it’s about dozens of things ranging from skeletal structure to haemoglobin carrying capacity to pure genetics to brain structure/mass/density.

Skeletal structure
‘Normal’ IQ
Blood Groups
Haemoglobin Carrying Capacity
In mtDNA especially.
Cranial Volume.
The structure of the brain.
The structure of the skull
Muscle Growth/Repair Capacity
Rate of Maturation
Rate of Gestation
Amounts of hormones produced
Testes
Respiration (especially Anaerobic)
Recovery Rates
Energy Storage
Creative IQ
Verbal IQ
EQ
Socialization techniques
Monogamous or Polygamous preferences
Mate preferences

The list goes on and on and on.

The only people brainwashed are the racists. For one thing, there has been race mixing since the beginning of time. Black, white, and Asians have always mixed with each other. Yet, whites are not even close to becoming extinct. And they will never become extinct. The vast majority of whites still mate with whites, and the same for blacks.

Racism is not the norm. Racism is a recent meme, that did not exist prior to the 1600s. Before the 1600s, people of different races got along with each other, and mixed with no problem. The Medieval, Classical, and Ancient worlds did not have racism. Racism only developed because in a rapidly secularizing society after the 1600s (Age of Reason, scientific revolutions, and the Enlightenment), religion was not an adequate reason to enslave Africans. So the meme of “race” was invented to justify it.

Given the true history of race and racism, it is you guys who are brainwashed. You obviously know little about biology, human differences, or even human history.

As I stated before, races have mixed all throughout history. No part of Europe was left untouched. As a result, you guy already have African ancestry. Even though they have mixed, there is still a sizable population of whites. They are not being bred out of existence. Only a blind person would believe that.

While us anti-racists on here have lambasted you guys for being racists, after reading your messages, racism is NOT your biggest problem. Racism is merely a symptom. It is one thing to find interracial relationships disgusting. It is a totally different thing to get bent out of shape because of it. The idea of “white genocide” is so laughable. It makes as much sense as the idea that Christians (who make up 80% of the US population) are discriminated against. And you would rather nuke your own cities than to mix with black people? That is sick. That is a mental illness equivalent to believing that God allowed 9/11 to happen because of homosexuality. You guys need to seek help, but I doubt that there is any help for you guys. You guys sound as bad as, or even worse than radical anti-American Muslims. You guys are full of nothing but darkness and hate. I see absolutely no spark in you guys. No love for anything. You don’t even love your whiteness. Just a desire to spread darkness, hate, murder, suffering, and evil.

RACE IS LITTLE MORE THAN SKIN DEEP. The human genome research taught us that we are genetically 99% equal to a rat, so just skin, bone structure, haemoglobin, genitalia and brain functions make us all that different? I’d say about .0001%.

The fact is that it is Marxist Egalitarianism that is abnormal. Racism is, and always has been, the Norm.

A pox on both their houses. You say Missourah, I say Missouri, let’s call the whole thing off. Enough already, people! It’s 2009 if you hadn’t noticed and we’re past all that. Move on, get a life. As a believer in equality I believe both sides are equally to blame. Race is not an issue for me so I just don’t understand why it’s an issue for minorities and some but not all whites. Whatever, whatever, I don’t want to hear about it. I like to think of myself as progressive liberal and conservative. 14 words: Rush Limbaugh closed CPAC by saying to keep it real but behind closed doors.

This is terrible. Hopefully the racial issues will end and soon it will just be as normal as day to see bi racial couple. I’m whit and my wife is black and we get the odd stares now and then depending on where we are and it’s especially hard for my daughter because people assume she’s adopted when she is seen with me without her mother. It really kind of hurts when we just can’t live a normal life with all the tension we have meeting new people.

I just thank god for the wife and child i have… People today barely even find relationships like the one my wife and I have.

I am thankful to live in a diverse community in Northern NJ and the people here are not against us in any way shape or form. The way it should be in the rest of this big melting pot of a country

Thegoviskillingme,

You may not set out to hurt your Black grandson but anyone with views that are as racist as yours, would no doubt break the spirit of a Black child crushing his/her self esteem and self worth especially coming from one who have influence and regular contact in that child’s life. Just because you never use the N-word around him would does not change your racist beliefs. There is no way on this earth that one who holds such racist opinions as yours could hide such from one you have regular contact with on a personal level.

If your daughter understood the effect that such a person with views such as yours would have on her Black bi-racial son, she would protect him from such harm and not allow you to have any influence in his life with as little contact humanly possible teaching him to love you from afar while praying for God to bless you with the right heart so that you can have a healthy relationship with him one day.

I wonder if you even have or have ever had close and loving relationships with any Black people? Do you visit or have anyone(s) Blacks that are friends and visit with on a regular basis? Talk to on the telephone regularly, (granted, the telephone may be just a female thing), lol. These interactions are the norm for some people as hard as it may be for those such as yourself to wrap around your brain.

I lived in the South for a few years and was down South recently on vacation where I heard the worst speech on the face of the earth from White people. Flash backs reappeared in my mind of this awful sounding speech that I use to hear on a regular basis when out among the locals and over the intercom from the School Principle in Augusta Georgia when my mother was stationed in the 70’s at Fort Gordon. If this country exposed the public to bad White Southerner speech through television shows, movies, etc., as they do that of certain urban and other Blacks who do speak poorly, no doubt then that we could all conclude that White people speak English poorly.

Furthermore, it is from this breed of White people, Blacks learned and developed their English language. You may think, “Thegoviskillingme” that you see the world as it truly is, but you truly have not a clue. But for your Black grandson sake and your sake, including your entire family’s sake, I do hope that you will be blessed with a changed heart and renewed mind so that you will begin to see things from His perspective since you do except the fact that there is a God where the first step to wisdom is to fear Him along with understanding the dept of His love towards ALL people.

By the way, what a shame that your Black grandson do not have his father in his life, hopefully that will change but even if it never does he must understand that it absolutely doe not have to shape who he is and MUST NOT ALLOW IT, nor having a grandfather with obsessive racist views concerning Blacks.

I say that if white supremacists didn’t want to see the races mixing, they and their mentally challenged ancestors should have stayed in Europe permanently. There’s still time for them to move back, though! Nobody’s forcing them to stay here on the land that was stolen from the Native peoples.

America has ALWAYS been interracial, whether white America wants to admit it or not. And it’s getting browner and browner, thank God. What we’re hearing in the St. Louis area are some of the death throes of white supremacy, and that’s a death that can’t happen quickly enough.

I find it hilarious that so many supposedly superior white males (and the idiot females who agree with such embarrassments to European masculinity) are so incredibly fearful of and upset at seeing a Black man and a white woman kissing. Would you simple-minded jackasses prefer to see a Black man killing a white woman? If so, then you’re some really sick and deranged individuals who need to catch the next one-way flight back to Europe.

America is interracial. It always has been. It always will be. You cannot fight it. Don’t even try.

I live in Alabama and I have family from St. Louis. I am in an interracial marriage and have been for the last 12 years, we have two beautiful children. I am absolutely appalled and shocked that people can’t be more open minded in 2009. What is wrong with society? We are at war and you are more concerned about a photo?? Seriously, who cares? Get your priorities in order. There are far worse issues than a cover of a magazine!

mick, your understanding of genetics seems rather outdated. Studies of mitochondrial DNA have clearly demonstrated that all H. sapiens living today descended from a small group in Africa - we are ALL “african” to some degree.

As for the East St. Louis schools, as someone who reported on them for a number of years, I can state that the problem isn’t the ethnicity of the students, it’s the corrupt political system that places patronage above the needs of the students. And that corrupt system goes all the way back to the WHITE Alvin Fields era.

“Yes, you so-called “anti-racists”, who are in reality only anti-White, and anti-Christian, are the brainwashed ones. The proof most “racists” aren’t brainwashed is the vast majority of us didn’t always think what we now thing.”

This true, Whites, being hyper compassionate are easy prey for the blak sociopath looking to take advantage of our good will. “white guilt” is a real phenomenon, after decades of hearing how evil we are, we are now on our knees begging for forgiveness, going so far as to elect a blak man president. And blaks will hold slavery over our heads forever because it is a cash cow for them. White guilt is so powerful that it has caused our country to do counter productive things to ease the guilt, such as affirmative action, and the CRA, which forced banks to give cash to groups like ACORN so they could then make loans to blaks, which caused our financial system to collapse.

Regarding brainwashing, the poster is absolutely right, one of the biggest myths about racism is that it has to be taught. I became am a racist the same way i became an atheist, I opened my eyes, I had never heard the term racist/racism until I went to college. The true brainwashing, the blatant indoctrination that goes on in america comes from white liberals who insist “we are all the same”, and “diversity is our strength”, and from blak opportunists like jesse, al, louis, wright who “YT is evil” and “blame yt” mantras are designed to extort as many concessions from “the man” as possible.

Billybob, I’m hardly “liberal” - small “L” libertarian probably fits best. And we home school our kids because, overall, we feel public education is a disaster.

But you’re putting the cart before the horse: The problem isn’t the kids, or their ethnicity - black kids do very well given good schools and home environments that stress education.
The problem is urban school districts in general, which for decades have faced declining tax bases, urban flight and political greed - all complicated by the inept Cult of Education that runs most public schools.

“We white women, the great vast majority of us would never date blacks. This is offensive to me. im sorry
— anna finn chick”

Any casual observation will reveal whats going on. Generally it’s the overweight white women, who tend to be desperate/lonely that end up with blak men.

blak men, who tend to be sociopaths, are drawn to these women because they are easy marks, these women have jobs, homes, credit, cars, no children (unless from a previous encounter w/a bm) and no drama. They tend to be submissive and grateful, suffer from white guilt, and are compassionate/empathetic towards “the plight of the blakman”.

while these two parties will vigorously and adamantly claim “it’s true love”, it’s actually the pairing of two types that meets each others needs.

the other most common type of white person that ends up with a blak partner is the “self loathing white-race hater”, again these are mostly women. These people have a psychological disorder in which they have such hate for their own race that they do the most destructive thing they can, have children with a blak. These women will like to think of themselves as “rebels” and as being “avant garde”, but it’s just self hate. obama’s mother is a good example, as is heidi klum, “i want to have as many blak babies as possible”

the 3rd most common white/blak relationship is the fetish, this explains most all w/m b/f relationships, Robert De Niro is a good example.

None of these types of relationships are good for society, they are psychopathic in nature, and the whites involved in these relationships end up suffering a great deal, usually left with unwanted children, ruined lives, and on a daytime court tv program, while the blaks move on to the next victim, none the worse for wear.

And that’s what I think when i the mag cover photo.

just for fun, google “profile of a sociopath” or “sociopath profile”, read several of them, it’s very enlightening!

No, billybob, I follow the data - and the data clearly indicates that economic status, education of the parents and parental involvement (especially reading to kids early) all are much bigger factors in both the quality of schools and the educational results than ethnicity. I would love to see a credible source for that SAT statistic you cite.

Bob, I used to do a lot of reporting on the FBI crime stats, and I’ve never seen anything approaching what you claim. As for the rest of your rants, you need to decide: Are Blacks inherently inferior or have they been put down by a corrupt government/society? You seem to put forth contradictory arguments.
