Black kids booted from pool told they might “change the complexion” of private swim club in Philly
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
This story from the NBC affiliate in Philadelphia caught our eye. More than 60 poor kids in a summer day camp were turned away from a private swim club in which they had paid to get in. The camp director says it was because the kids are black.
This quote from the club president would seem to support that claim.
“There was concern that a lot of kids would change the complexion … and the atmosphere of the club,” said John Duesler, President of The Valley Swim Club.

TF - keep it going over 90! PR, that is one place, or one of the places I’ve never wanted to go, along with the asian countries. Just don’t have any interest in those directions. Might be lovely, but not for me!
Trying to make a change in the legal industry is difficult! But thanks for the fingers crossed! I’ll know in the next week or so.
I have a mixed family on the corner with a passle of kids, his, hers and theirs. The only complaint I would have is I wish they would take their basketball hoop out of the middle of the street before a kid gets run over or the hoop gets hit by a car, and either one is bound to happen, its just a matter of time. You never see the parents outside at all - never! There are a few kids that are too young to be out unattended, but they are!
You have a good trip and will look forward to another disagreement in the future - you argue pretty good sometimes! See ya in the funny papers@
Hey, thegoviskillingme: The Alton incident you cited. Did that have something to do with someone stealing someone’s TV, and one of the parties going to retrieve it and being killed as a result? It sounds familiar.
Joe L., last year a young high school student, white, was standing on the corner across from his house talking to his friends when 3 negro males (can’t call them men) drove up in an SUV and shot and killed him - he was 17. These 3 scum bag pieces of trash were asked ‘why’ and they said they were bored and decided to go out and kill a white person to see someone die! This took place 2 blocks from my house. Alton has changed dramatically since blacks moved over from STL. They brought the crime with them as always happens. Break ins, trash all over the place, loud music, robberies, murders, drive bys, car chases, burglary, drugs all over the place, hold ups, and kids being born as fast as they can pop ‘em out and don’t know who ‘tha baby daddy is’, thats for sure. The cops are learning about it and trying to keep all the drugs down, but there are over 165 KNOWN major drug houses in this burg - this is their contribution to society!
I am deeply saddend by most of the comments here. I am a black female who has lived all over the world and have never seen as much hatred towards blacks as I have in Missouri. There are bad apples in EVERY race. There are whites that beat and kill blacks for no reason other than race and there are blacks, hispanics, asians, etc that kill people based simply on race. Purdy, your comments seem to lump black people in one cateogory. You seem to think all of us are exactly the same way. I have seen my fair share of poorly behaved people in every race. I wonder what crosses your mind when you see whites causing problems. I doubt you place their race at the heart of their bad behavior. As far as plastic surgery goes, white women have their lips, buttocks enhanced all of the time. Those are typically black features. Let’s not forget perms…
Saddend - NO, you are incorrect in that I lump all blacks into one catagory. I find that everyone will talk/comment on those people, black or white, etc., that are causing problems in society/community. It is seldom that any discussion takes place on those that are a contributing factor to an area or neighborhood. Good deeds practically go unnoticed, and the bad behavior is what gets attention. I live in a medium class area -not on the high end, not on the low end. When I first moved here it was fine! Everyone got along, took care of their property, and was a nice neighbor to have around, THEN, the neighborhood began to change. Ethnic groups moved in and brought they culture/habits/crime, etc. with them, and of course that was a disruptive influence on the rest of us. Now, our way of life has been changed because of the influx of those type people! And, that is what is talked about! If they hadn’t done what they did or do, then we wouldn’t be talking about it. And if those people all seem to be lumped together then its because they, unfortunately, act the same as the other bad influences around! Apparenlty, they all act and do the same things that all people find inappropriate! Why? Aren’t they taught that throwing your trash down in the middle of the street is not to be done? OR, going to KFC, eating out of your card board box, then tossing that box with garbage in it out of the car window into some ones yard, or the street? Where do they learn that behavior? Certainly not from me, BUT, I end up having to pick their trash up out of my yard or in front of my house - so, if that’s the case, do you really think that is going to me make me like YOU? He3$$ No, it isn’t, I’m going to dislike you for doing it! This behavior happens on a daily basis all over town - why? Explain to me why that is!!! Explain to me how anyone can think that way!
Hats off to Tyler Perry. He is sending these children to Disney World.
Read about this beautiful awsome gesture.
