McCausland Avenue reopened at Highway 40 late Sunday afternoon after crews demolished an elevated highway span over the road.
Dan Galvin of Gateway Constructors said the work went “fairly smoothly” and the road reopened at about 4 p.m. Crews were unable to restripe the streets because cold temperatures.caused paint nozzles to freeze up.
Also, the city of St. Louis had to repair a leaking water valve on McCausland, south of Highway 40 this morning, said Todd Waelterman, the city streets director. That reduced traffic flow to one lane in each direction. But it should be opened up by tonight’s commute, Waelterman siad.

The bridge demolition is part of the reconstruction of Highway 40 between Interstate 170 and Kingshighway.
