Hanley to reopen July 31
Hanley Road will reopen at Highway 40 before the evening commute on Friday, July 31.
Missouri Department of Transportation spokeswoman Linda Wilson said the Hanley bridge - which carries two lanes in each direction - is reopening a month ahead of schedule.
When the overpass closed on Dec. 29, it dispersed about 50,000 motorists a day to Brentwood Boulevard, Interstate 170 and Big Bend Boulevard.
Also next week, work will begin immediately on the jug handle interchage at Hanley and Eager roads, just south of the overpass, resulting in a traffic reconfiguration. Direct access to Eager Road will close from Hanley. To get to and from Eager Road, Hanley motorists will need to turn onto Meridian Drive behind Best Buy. Also, MoDOT officials announced that the Oakland Avenue overpass at Highway 40 will reopen on Monday, Aug. 3, after the morning commute. At the same time, the Clayton Avenue overpass will close for demolition.

Ct, you will still be able to access I-170 from Eager. I believe all traffic coming and going from Eager to Hanley or vice versa well be routed around the backside of Best Buy/Sports Authority via the Dale Ave/Hanley Ave intersection.
This will save some wear and tear om the Clayton, Brentwood and Ladue Fire Departments covering for Richmond Heights because of someones bright idea of closing both Hanley and Big Bend together!
DC, I couldn’t agree with you more. When I heard they were closing Big Bend before Hanley re-opened, I couldn’t believe it. Whoever came up with that bright idea should be fired. Clayton isn’t congested enough right now without closing two major arteries in and out of the city. Idiots.
I looked at the attached map. How do Northbound Hanley drivers access Eager Road and then 170N? Will there be a left turn lane to turn onto Meridian from Northbound Hanley (and then a “no-stop” turn onto Westbound Eager)? If so, this will be a NIGHTMARE in the morning for folks trying to get to 170N from Northbound Hanley. Any stop-lighted left turn onto Meridian will be backed up on Hanley for a mile. And Dale will back up with traffic trying to cross Hanley onto Meridian.
What a mess…..
Everything will be done by December 31st. 79% of the closure (in months) is over. No need to worry.
Obviously Nostradamus and Darin do not travel Northbound on Hanley trying to get to Eager Road/170N in the morning.
