Greyhound moving to nicer digs
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Greyhound is moving up. After years at the Old Cass Bank building north of downtown, the bus line will be moving into the shiny new Gateway Transportation Center on South 15th Street on Tuesday. In September, the transportation megaplex should also serve Amtrak, as long as track work doesn’t delay its move another month. The building has 10 bays for Greyhound buses, doubling the company’s current capacity in the bank building. Amtrak will have four tracks at the station.

I’m glad to see StL get the new multi-purpose station. It is long overdue. My only regret is the separation of the trains from Union Station.
But what about John Hemingway? Will he be making the move too?
It took me 2 hours and 45 min to ride from Alton to STL on the Amtrak- I hope this new station speeds the ride up a little!
Brando, a new station won’t speed up Amtrak — how on earth could it? The Amtrak rails are shared by Union Pacific. When you arrive to a destination late, it’s not because Amtrak was coasting along at just 25 mph. It’s because UP has the right of way. That’s the cost of train travel. It’s annoying sometimes, but I’d much rather take a train for $30 to Chicago, for example, than drive it.
The new station is much needed. Every single station from StL to Chicago has a much nicer station than us. The UP delays are annoying, but are you really in a hurry when on a train?
