Amtrak will be getting a piece of the stimulus pie. The amount hasn’t been finalized, but the expectation is that the passenger rail service could get $1.3 billion. Could high-speed rail from St. Louis to Chicago be around the corner? To read more, click here.

A high-speed train from here to Chi-town is fine and dandy as long as they actually keep the rails usable during the winter months, not have 12+ hour delays because of rude and lazy union members who don’t know that it gets cold in the winter, and update the rail cars to 1990 standards.

I was one of those trapped in Chicago’s Union Station before Christmas last year and AmTrack has a lot to prove to me before I use them again. I hope they use this money wisely and invest in modern technology for their passanger cars, and rails.
