Pedestrian bridge over Highway 40 has soggy opening
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Despite this morning’s steady rain, MoDOT threw open a new pedestrian bridge over Highway 40 just east of Kingshighway with a handful of people from the neighborhood looking on.
The lighted bridge provides a link between neighborhoods south of Highway 40 (Interstate 64) to Kingshighway and Barnes-Jewish Hospital to the north.
Tonight, the ramps to and from Kingshighway will be closed along with a short stretch of Highway 40 just east of Kingshighway while crews remove the old pedestrian bridge just east of the new one. The ramps and all highway traffic lanes will close at 10 tonight but should reopen by noon Saturday.
Motorists are being encouraged to use Forest Park Parkway or Interstate 44 instead.
