A glitch at Lindbergh
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Signs marking exits on Highway 40 at Lindbergh are befuddling drivers today. On each side of the highway there’s one exit for Lindbergh. That same exit also takes drivers to US 61 South, which shares pavement with Lindbergh. Drivers today are getting confused by the 61 South reference, Linda Wilson at the Missouri Department of Transportation said. They’re assuming the exit is for southbound Lindbergh, and that there must also be a northbound exit.
Nope. There’s just one exit. MoDOT will be removing the “south” from the sign, Wilson said.

As a related argument, I hope they don’t think that U.S. 61 goes north from there, as the sign will eventually suggest.
I had the same problem today. The Lindbergh exits in both directions say “South”, and the exits in both directions are in the same general location as the old southbound Lindbergh exits. Unfortunately, there is no longer a northbound exit, so if you are used to the old configuration of exits, the signage suggests there are still 2 exits.
It’s a SPUI, so only one exit (eastbound) is in the same spot. They have the diagrams of the new exits for a reason on their website. I hope they don’t rip out the roundabouts just because “they aren’t the same as before.”
Good thing you printed this in the paper…..now get the news stations to report it. What finally happened to the woman at the corner of the exit that had the large sound wall put next to her front door?
