I-70 reversible lanes eastbound only
The reversible lanes on Interstate 70 will be eastbound only starting Thursday due to changes in traffic patterns since December, when Highway 40 closed between Interstate 170 and Kingshighway. Traffic on eastbound I-70 between I-170 and the Poplar Street Bridge has become much heavier than westbound traffic during morning and evening rush hours, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
“Engineers will continue to monitor the travel times on I-70 every week and make changes as needed,” MoDOT I-64 Project Director Lesley Hoffarth said. “For now, the travel times indicate it should be eastbound all day long.”
The reversible lanes could be changed in direction as needed to respond to a crash or other incident along I-70. The two reversible lanes stretch for about six miles from Union Boulevard to Broadway.

This is great news!
My drive to work this morning was so much easier with the reversible lanes being eastbound.
Now the drive home….
I drive 55 north every weekday through the depressed lanes onto 70 west bound. Since this change, 55 backs up to the brewery most mornings. When I finally get through the depressed lanes, generally the traffic on the reversible lanes is very light.
At 5pm, the we really need the reversible lanes eastbound, otherwise it would back up worse than it does.
Please put it back!
