Soon, crews will close lanes on the rebuilt section of Highway 40 (Interstate 64) to finish putting up sound walls. The Missouri Department of Transportation is allowing the closures since the manufacturer  couldn’t produce the panels quickly enough last summer.

The work could start as early as Monday, depending on whether snow remains in the forecast. The work is planned to take place from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., so evening rush hour wouldn’t be affected. First, Gateway Constructors will put up sound walls on the north side of the highway near McCutcheon, said Linda Wilson, spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Transportation. One to two lanes could close, so watch for warning signs.

Throughout February, sound walls will go up at incomplete sections near ramps, such as at Lindbergh Boulevard and McKnight Road. This will require the ramps to close. Wilson said the public will get a week’s notice.
