Brentwood at 40 to get repaved
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The days are numbered for the rumble ride on Brentwood Boulevard near the Highway 40 overpass.
Later this month, crews will lay fresh asphalt on the rough stuff to make the ride much smoother. Warmer nighttime temperatures are necessary. The work won’t be done during the day, but over about two nights to limit the traffic impacts.
Curious when work will start, I emailed Dan Galvin at Gateway Constructors today. He said that crews are focused on reopening the Hampton overpass by May 22, but they want to repave Brentwood before the Big Bend overpass closes on June 1. Repaving Brentwood likely will happen the last week in May.

Come on lady in the Ginormous Escalade! Share the road with cyclist!!! if you have to wait 3 seconds to go around someone cause your driving a living room around town what’s the big deal?
That’s just great. Now, can we get a word from Galvin as to why the lights at the Clayton & Big Bend intersection cause drivers heading east on Clayton to wait for up to 10 minutes to get through, while Big Bend traffic rolls right on through with hardly anyone ever waiting? ADJUST THE DARN LIGHTS! And this is going to be 10x worse when both bridges are down. Guess he and/or his family don’t have to go that way to get home!
Let’s cut the pandering to the yahoos and grow up at the PD - call it “I-64″ with perhaps a “(U.S. 40)” reference to the old days for a few months. See the sign up there? “I” designation outranks any other reference.
Tim… I don’t see an Escalade in the photo. What’re you referring to?
