Traffic changes in Richmond Heights
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
City officials in Richmond Heights will be implementing more changes Monday to discourage drivers from using neighborhood streets as detours around the Big Bend overpass closure. Here’s what to expect:
On Moorlands Drive, police today will remove the one-way restriction at Clayton Road and replace it with a sign that says “No Thru Street, Local Traffic Only.”
On Claytonia, the one-way restriction will be reversed. The road will be southbound only from Clayton Road to Ethel Avenue. Left turns will be prohibited onto Claytonia from Clayton Road.
A speed trailer will be placed on Claytonia at Warner.

I am maddened that Richmond Heights and MoDot don’t encourage the use of these neighborhood streets. The neighborhood streets help relieve the pressure of traffic on McCausland and Bellevue that are like parking lots now.
If I (and others affected) could cross the highway via Highland Terrace or Laclede Station Rd, it would be extraordinarily helpful.
I think those in Richmond heights that are moaning about the traffic in their neighborhoods should just buck it up and help out the greater good.
I am not one of those speeders. I promise I would respect the rules of the road.
What defines “local traffic”?
I have no problem with the closures/detour tactics. I’ve seen the traffic on those side streets before the closures and the local residents couldn’t even get out of their driveways it was so bad. The drivers pretty much were jerks about it to, when I witnessed it. Someone’s trying to pull out of their driveway and instead of letting them out the car on the street would just have to get through and come to a complete stop 10 feet away. I’d want to keep you guys out of there too if I lived there. Btw, I have no problems with this because, I commute by bike while you guys sit and squirm in your cars. Maybe you should try it.
