Traffic restrictions in Richmond Heights will remain for at least another two weeks, despite last week’s reopening of the Hanley Road overpass, the City Council has decided. City streets officials put the restrictions in place in June to keep traffic from using neighborhood streets to get around the Big Bend Boulevard overpass closure.

On Aug. 17, the council will consider lifting the restrictions, city spokeswoman Irene Johnson said. City officials want to look at traffic counts on streets that have been used as cut-throughs.  After Big Bend closed at Highway 40 (Interstate 64) on June 1, the city restricted movements on Claytonia Terrace, Moorlands Drive, Boland Place and others to discourage the onslaught of detour traffic.
