Here’s the latest on the Highway 40 reopening bash. It will be noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.

The celebration will include a ribbon cutting at the McCutcheon overpass, a 5K run, a cycling time trial and a fun bike ride. Every entrance and exit ramp between Brentwood Boulevard and Ballas Road will be open for pedestrian access. The Frontenac/Town & Country Chamber of Commerce will be offering carriage rides on the highway between Lindbergh and Spoede.

Parking will be available at the Metro-Meridian garage on Eager Road, and Metro will provide free shuttle service to the Brentwood ramp at 40. Frontenac is offering public parking at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac on Lindbergh and Clayton Road.

After the celebration, crews will start the process of reopening the closed section of highway, and plan to have it fully open by morning rush hour on Dec. 15. At the same time, the stretch between I-170 and Kingshighway will close.
