Vibrations in Dogtown

Pavement crushing operations on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) are sending vibrations through some homes in Dogtown. Crews with Gateway Constructors are scraping off the old asphalt and then breaking up the concrete underneath it by slamming it with a sheet of steel, according to spokesman Dan Galvin. Gateway is monitoring vibrations to ensure they don’t get strong enough to cause damage. So far, the vibrations have been well below damaging levels, Galvin said in an email.
