Sleep at last for those near McCausland
Many who live near the overpass at McCausland Road and Highway 40 were kept awake last week as crews worked double shifts crushing pavement. They’d work until 2:30 a.m., some times later, driving a 10-ton piece of metal into pieces of the old highway. If you’ve never heard how loud a pavement crusher can be, just ask someone who lives nearby.
Janet Dobbs couldn’t get away from the noise. Or the lights, she said. The most peace she could find was in her basement.
“It is loud, shakes the house, dusty with cement dust all over the neighborhood,” she wrote us at Along for the Ride.
Gateway Constructors had crews working double shifts at McCausland last week because the pavement crusher was needed for another job, said Dan Galvin, spokesman for the group. ”We had to get as much of it done as we possibly could while we had the equipment,” he said.
The night time work is over, Galvin said. By about 5:30 p.m. daily, pavement crushing should be over.

They should be fined for late night noise just like anyone else!
