Problems on the 58X Twin Oaks Express

Most rides went smoothly. A few went not so smoothly.

In restoring about half of the bus service it cut in March, Metro put 87 buses on the street that have been sitting in storage. The bus I rode this morning — the 194 Page Limited — had no issues. But the 58X Twin Oaks Express, which blogger Mark Edwards took to work, had problems with the fare box, air conditioning and it broke down. ”It was just my luck,” he said.

Edwards boarded the bus today with great expectations, he said. For the last four months, he hasn’t had bus service from his home in Chesterfield to his job in Midtown. Last week, he sent Metro officials a note requesting that a bus stop be placed on Compton Avenue between Market and Laclede, and they did.

“We look forward to having you back,” wrote Jessica Mefford-Miller, Metro’s acting chief of planning and system development, in an email.

Edwards says he’s happy to be back on the bus. He just hopes the air conditioning works on his way home tonight. To read his account of the morning, click here.
