Downtown driving
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Getting around downtown might be kind of rough these next few weeks — depending on where you’re driving. Crews have started to repave about 30 blocks of downtown streets, including stretches of Pine Street, 14th Street, Lucas Avenue and Olive Street.
Most of the work will be at night. Roads will be milled — roughed up — before the asphalt goes down. For a map of the work, click here.

The repaving is great and much needed, but what about fixing the most under-maintained street, Memorial Drive. It is just awful. What a bumpy way to welcome people to St. Louis, since it is the main exit for many out-of-towners. Are the governmental powers waiting for the highway “lid” to be constructed first? Well, waiting for that is like waiting for the Ballpark Village to be constructed. Please repave Memorial Drive! The next task… improved/reconstructed Downtown sidewalks.
