OMG! Linehan’s a texter!
MEQUON, Wis. (Camp Day 5/early report)
LOL!
We’re sure Scott Linehan never thought that one of the talents he’d have to acquire as an NFL head coach is the ability to text-message. His three young sons probably have it mastered, but their 44-year-old dad had to be a quick study.
That’s how Linehan has been communicating with holdout running back Steven Jackson since training camp started. Linehan said he gets his thumbs moving pretty quickly now, and he’s even picking up on the word shortcuts.
“I haven’t misspelled any words, and I’ve learned all the abbreviations,” Linehan reported. “It’s been good.”
BTW, the practices have been spirited from the get-go, and the coach seems very upbeat.

Today’s forecast called for a 60 percent chance of rain, but as of 1 p.m. — three hours before the single practice starts — it was mostly sunny and a bit warmer than Monday. The Rams couldn’t have asked for better weather, especially after three sweltering summers in Earth City.

All for now. . . more following practice.

Maybe Steven should spend time talking to his agent and the Rams and get his rear end in camp then texting the coach.
Why does everyone seem to love Jackson so much? He had one great year and has been a disruption and distraction to the team ever since. He is not the kind of leader or player this club needs right now. I say let him sit out and try-out some replacements.
Now, if he can just learn how to coach.
I heard on the radio Jackson is the 40-something highest paid running back in the NFL.
He’s a top ten (if not 5) running back….pay him.
And Avery’s injury is a perfect example of why Stephen is holding out for a new contract…All it takes is one freak injury and Jackson can kiss any new contract good-bye…
That people, is the reason why NFL players jockey for that guaranteed money…I know some of you folk think that all athletes are selfish turds; but some of them are actually thinking about their future…And guaranteed money is a big part of that future…
really, the guaranteed money is everything…they never last thru the complete contract, he should get paid, he’s a top 10 back, and deserves the money. they found a way to get bulger paid last year…
Hmm, maybe Jackson should have thought about “guaranteed” money during his last contract negotiation. I, too, think about my future, but do you think I could change my contract before it’s up. C’mon people. I realize these guys do something only a few people in the world can do, but if you can’t live off a few million dollars a year for a long time, then your priorities are a little off. I agree with b. Let’s see a few great years together before you start spouting off about how much you do for the team by yourself.
No one on this 3-13 team deserves more money. Steven should handle this contract holdout like it’s a football last season and just drop it.
jackson is making 1.5 mill a year, thats chump change for a franchise back… the fact is that 1.5 mill in the nfl isnt what it used to be… give him his money and get on with it, he is not being unreasonsble, if want him to be some star in our offense why don’t we pay him like one??? bulger got his contract so should jackson…
