Finally, a game

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Pregame report)

Even though tonight’s matchup with the Titans is of the preseason variety, any departure from the grind of training camp is a welcome event. The Rams have been pounding on one another — and the Titans for a couple of days — for 2 1/2 weeks. So, a chance to compete in game conditions is a nice diversion.

It’s a pretty day, sunny, a few wispy clouds, and the temperature is 84 degrees with just 31 percent humidity. Pretty fortunate for early August in Nashville.

NFL teams hate night games, because the day seems to drag on forever. Coach Scott Linehan kept his troops busy with meetings and wrapped up the pregame routine with a robust meal before the buses left for LP Field around 3:45 p.m.

After the game, the players, coaches and other personnel will fly back to Milwaukee and then bus to Mequon for the final few days of training camp at Concordia University. The team returns to St. Louis on Thursday; the home preseason opener is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday vs. the Chargers.

All for now . . . more after the game.
