Haslett climbs on frustrated Hill
MEQUON, Wis. (Camp Day 19/late report)
Cornerback Tye Hill, the Rams’ first-round draft pick in 2006, will tell anyone who’ll listen that he’s disappointed he picked off only four passes — including just one last season — in his first two seasons in the NFL. He’s made it a goal to boost his interception totals.
At Tuesday afternoon’s practice, Hill slipped in front of wide receiver Dante Hall and soared high to snare a pass from Marc Bulger. About 15 minutes later, Hill had another ball in his hands . . . but he muffed it, and it fell to the ground, much to Hill’s obvious dismay.
That promoted this sardonic reaction from defensive coordinator Jim Haslett: “You know, Tye, you’re allowed to have more than one a day.”
Hill just stalked off, fuming.

With the end of training camp in sight, coach Scott Linehan was feeling a bit quippish, as well. When asked about hamstring injuries and how long it takes to recover from them, the former University of Idaho quarterback replied, “I wasn’t fast enough to have a hamstring (injury) personally, so I wouldn’t know.”

Notes & quotes:
>>MLB Will Witherspoon was full-go Tuesday after recovering from a bruised shoulder that kept him out of Saturday night’s game at Tennessee.
>>After a rough start to camp, WR Shaine Smith has been impressive lately. He could be in contention for a spot on the practice squad.
>>CB David Macklin also has come on lately after an unimpressive start.
>>If he passes his physical, CB Tanard Davis will be at Wednesday afternoon’s practice. Davis, a U. of Miami product, was on the Eagles’ practice squad last season.
>>Injuries have left the Rams are so thin in the secondary that international player Sabastien Sejean, a safety, was working with the No. 2 defense Tuesday morning. Sejean will spend the season on the practice squad as part of an NFL developmental program.
All for now . . . more following Wednesday afternoon’s final training camp practice.

Sadly for Tye Hill he will not be getting many chances for interceptions this year either. After all, why would a team ever pass the ball when they can run it for 340 yards???
.oh gee Scott your such a great leader and motivator,u think maybe u can get the first string offence to score a TD this preseason. You a loser scott, later.
Oh for god’s sake, can you learn to spell offense mr. t? You have much more credibility if you can spell basic english!
Yea, the Rams have work to do … is this really such a surprise after a 3-13 season? Do you think ‘99 can happen every year? St. Louis fans are the biggest fly-by-night fans I have ever seen. If it’s the “place to be”, they are there. Otherwise, you can forget about true appreciation of the game. Jackson struck a nerve with all of you “fans” for selling your tickets to Packer, Steelers and Bears fans. He was right on with his comments. Go to Lambeau, Pittsburgh, or Chicago and try to take over their stadium … any year, and you will have you butts handed to you. Way to rollover St. Louis fans!
First time blogger on this site. I live in Tucson, AZ and have been a Rams fan since 1968, my first recollection of life. ( Quarterback Roman Gabriel). The Rams under Carrol Rosenbloom were a proud franchise that his widow did her very best to destoy. When you can’t hold on to Vince Ferragamo, Eric Dickerson, lets not even bring up Kurt, I get sick to my stomach, etc., you better look for another job. Somebody better figure out how to get Jackson in camp and working or he wont be ready for the season, and when they do get him in camp, Coach Linehan need to tell him that he is not Warrick Dunn. Stop dancing behind the line of scrimmage, and run some people over. Believe me, eventually they will get tired of the pounding, then the big runs will come, which will open up the passing game.
Boy oh boy ! I know it’s preseason but to let Titans run for 340 yards is a total emberasment. I just could hear players from the 49ers back in the 80’s & 90’s use to say all the time …..Same ole’ Rams !!
I think the reason most of us are upset with the Rams performance against the Titans, is we expected to see some improvement from a team that was 3 and 13 last year. Instead, it looked too much like the same team. The team looked uninspired. The ofensive line can’t block, Bulger looks the perverbial deer in the headlights, tackling is non-existent, and the head coach argues with the defensive coordinator and wannabe head coach (Haslett). No wonder Jackson doesn’t want to come to camp!
For a lot of teams, the exhibition season is not all that important, however, the Rams need to have some success. Maybe the first string offense could score a touchdown this exhibition season! Somehow I don’t think DV can inspire this bunch.
Settle down uffda
Traditions like those in Lambeau, Pittsburgh, and Chicago are built on winning. Just like the tradition that the Cardinals have built. You don’t see much rolling over when it comes to that club do you (see the ’90’s)? It takes years of winning to build such loyal fan bases and that is what fans in St Louis want. Now just relax and we can all see who this team really is come regular season.
When exactly did Chicago Bears get this “winning tradition?” Except for those few mid eighties teams and one recently, they have pretty much sucked since the 1940s.
THANK YOU RAMHOG!!!!!!!!!!
I here that from people all the time. Chicago Bears winning tradition. It basically is one of those media made up things.
Football has been supported in this town. The Big Dead had a 95% sell out rate and people finally stopped supporting Bidwell and his disfunctional org. when they realized he was moving. Also, if Bidwell would have even attempted to assist in getting a stadium they would still be here. He simply said he was moving without one and then let the city and county fight over it and nothing got done. He offered no assistance.
The Rams, well there sell out record and tv ratings speaks for itself. Yes, I know that in Washington, Green Bay etc etc etc they pass there season tickets down in their will.
I never understood why a city is considered a bad NFL city because the don’t support a team blindly. Why should anyone pay money to watch a bad product?
I agree, the NFL is about winning. Lets not forget the rams were 0-8 to start the season. Why would you pay to go to the stadium and watch your favorite team get their butts handed to them. I prefer to take that punishment in the comfort of my own home. Then I can at least wash away the pain with beer that cost less than $10 a pop.
