Jackson owes Rams $181,392 . . . and counting
MEQUON, Wis. (Camp Day 12)
For the record, Steven Jackson, who is holding out for a contract extension, is being fined exactly $15,116 for each day of training camp he misses. The total reached $181,392 Tuesday, the 12th day of camp. Jackson’s salary for this season is $1.7 million.

When the defense was dominating — and the offense struggling — in the early days of training camp, wide receiver Torry Holt wasn’t concerned. He’s learned over his nine years in the league that it takes time for a rhythm to be established, especially with a new coordinator and a new system that relies so heavily on timing and precision.
“It’s not really about the defense. And that’s not to discredit our defense,” Holt explained. “But it’s really what we do offensively, as far as our efficiency, our play-calling, our reads, our routes, our blocking schemes, our pull. That’s really what it’s about, and we’re trying to stress that to the guys. As long as our technique is sound and we’re playing fast, then we give ourselves a big shot.”
And sure enough, the offense has hit its stride and has been functioning smoothly. Which just proves that you just can’t fool the vets.

The temperatures in Nashville figure to be as much as 10 degrees higher than in Mequon. Rather than be concerned, coach Scott Linehan is actually looking forward to practicing in the heat.
“We need it,” he said. “I think our conditioning is good, but there’s still going to be some good time to train and compete in the heat.”

Notes & quotes:
>>TE Nick Cleaver, an undrafted rookie out of New Mexico State, has caught just about everything thrown his way.
>>CB Fakhir Brown, out since the first practice with a slightly torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder, has begun light weightlifting.
>>Although Chris Draft has returned to the field after suffering from back soreness, Quinton Culberson continues to work with the first team at strongside LB.
>>St. Louisan Brandon Williams is picking it up after a slow start to camp. The WR made a nice catch in the end zone of a long pass from QB Bruce Gradkowski in team drills Tuesday.
>>With the solid performance of rookies Chris Chamberlain, David Vobora and Marc Magro, third-year LB Tim McGarigle is in a serious fight to save his job.
All for now . . . more Wednesday from Nashville.

So…the player who was so angry with Rams fans not wanting to come watch his 3-13 team play, instead choosing to sell thier tickets and make back some of the money bilked from them through PSLs, is now hurting his team by sitting out over money?! Hey pot, stop calling the kettle black my friend!!!!
When are the Rams going to wake up and pay this man?? I don’t understand this… you have a top back, 25 years of age, who plays harder than anyone on the field on any given play. He wants to be a Ram and lead the organization to the top of the West again. But the fans keep crying about what he said last year about the choice of music in the Dome. Or the fact that he was mad because there were more Packers fans than Rams fans one game. Forget all that. The Rams have an opportunity to lock up at worst the 3rd best back in the league, but instead they want to play a waiting game. Why??? It just doesn’t make any sense. He will perform no matter what his contract is, and this day and age that is priceless. The Rams need to step up and pay Steve what he wants. He is a true player and the future face f the franchise. But more important than all that, he is going to be the one to lead us back to the top of the West. Lets get this guy locked up already! I am tired of these haters talking bad about Steven Jackson. Get over yourselves and realize what we have here… One of the best in the league at the ripe old age of 25…
NFL players know the system. They have to pay their dues. If S. Jackson had soooo… much “faith” in himself, he should have taken a shorter contract or less money in the first place. He deserves to be paid “BIG” bucks after his current contract expires. Did somebody hold a gun to his head and force him to sign his first contract? I do not think so. Supposedly, the Rams have offered him a contract making him one of the “Top 5″ running backs in terms of dollars. I think the ball is in Mr. Jacksons’ court. Pardon my frencg but, “shit or get off the pot”!
Could’nt agree more justin…
I have been a psl holder since the team arrived here in 1995, NEVER missed a game, and i agreed with Jackson last year about the fans selling off thier seats to the visiting teams.. Packers, Steelers, i was disgusting. The rest of you should be as well… How on earth do we expect to win home games without YOUR help.. Or keep the team for that matter..
If we always sounded like we did during that first home playoff game, Jan 2000, against the Vikings, we would win at least 8 games a year, no friggin doubt..
Wake up, smell the coffee, support your team all those who soldout…
Jackson should get paid…..
What Justin said.
Jackson is under contract. His _ _ S should be on the practice field. I’m sick of pro players not honoring their contracts. I will boo him every time I see him on the field! The only thing he is doing is hurting his teamates and the fans.
Unless the Rams intend on losing Jackson to another team when his contract is out………..Just sign the man and pay him like they are gonna have to! Lets get this hold out thing over with! Jackson needs time to click in the new offense and this is time that is hurting him and the team!

So, I guess we should be like Cubs fans and blindly support the team no matter what, sending the team a message that it’s OK, we’re stupid and will continue to buy tickets no matter what you put on the field? That’s a losers attitude. REAL fans send their terrible team and team management a message by not buying tickets, or selling their tickets. As for Jackson…A man’s worth is his word. He signed a contract, giving his word. Guess his word isn’t worth SH*T. What does that say about him. I’m with the Rams on this one (and I WAS a Jackson fan)..
The obligatory “no one forced him to sign this contract” arguement is the stupidest thing to say and those who use it dont know s*** about the nfl…Packers just paid ryan grant after 10 games jackson led LEAGUE in all purpose yards 2 years ago the rams need to wake the f*** up

LOL
Chris,
1) Like Packer, Bear, or St. Louis Cardinal fans for that matter? Gimmie a break, your point here is laughable.. REAL FANS SUPPORT THIER TEAM NO MATTER WHAT, If you honestly believe what you just wrote, you’re no fan at all, just a bandwaggoner…
2)So i guess you were one of the “REAL” fans that sold thier seats last year?, lmao
3)He is a future leader man, if you don’t see it, thats ok… You’ll see it somewhere else sooner or later… He is the face of the Rams right now.. a force, a bulldozer in cleats.. He deserves that of the top 3 in the league, because he is that friggin good…
