Did you hear the big news Monday from Rams Park?
No, you didn’t. Because there wasn’t any.
As usual, coach Scott Linehan took the podium at 4 p.m., followed by defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and offensive coordinator Al Saunders. For about 45 minutes, they tried to explain away another jarring and embarrassing defeat, while providing reasonable answers to stinging questions. It wasn’t pleasant, but they deserve credit for facing the fire.
New owner Chip Rosenbloom is an an extraordinarily difficult position. Does he honor his dying mother’s wish and stick with Linehan till the end of the year? Remember, the Rams haven’t changed head coaches during a season since 1962, when Bob Waterfield resigned.
On the other hand, can Rosenbloom afford to wait and risk that the franchise, which Georgia Frontiere loved so dearly, will tumble even further into a deep and dark abyss?
If Rosenbloom determines that the highly unpopular Linehan must go, and soon, does he:
A) Do it now, on the heels of three dreadful performances and before Sunday’s home game vs. Buffalo? It almost certainly would put more seats in the seats at the Dome, and at least would create a positive buzz among an increasingly hostile fan base.
B) Wait until after the game and do it during the subsequent bye week? That would provide some time for the transition to set in, and also would allow the new head coach (presumably an interim choice) to get his feet wet on the road (Oct. 12 at Washington).
These are difficult questions — far tougher than the coaching braintrust is facing. How Rosenbloom answers them will tell us a great deal about what kind of owner he intends to be and perhaps set the tone for the franchise for years to come.
All for now . . .

If they fire Linehan now, do you what the same people that brought you Linehan hiring the new/interm coach? Come on people, your rage is directed in the wrong place. When has firing the middle manager ever turned a company around. It stinks at the top! Great management can inspire everyone down the ladder to perform at a higher level than the talent dictates (for both coaches and players).
I agree, Alan. Shaw and Zygmunt would continue to mismanage the hiring of both coaches and players. Getting rid of Linehan and Haslett won’t cure anything. The ORGANIZATION need to be rebuilt starting at the top. Look what happened to Miami in just one year under Parcells.

I am very disappointed with the Seahawk fans for booing Josh Brown and hanging out signs that said “Josh Brown is a punk” and also upset with the TV cameras showing it. What classless people. Did the Ram fans boo Grant Wistrom when he retured to St Louis as a Seahawk or Kurt Warner as a Cardinal or any other former Rams, I doubt it. Will they boo Isacc Bruce when he returnes as a hated 49er? I don’t think so, but leave to Seattle. What a gem they are in the Great Northwest.
It is deplorable to think that 48 millionaires are not ready to play football. Each week on television there is a sideline reporter depicting the apathy on the bench. How deplorable! How can there be apathy when some individuals are depositing money into accounts that some fans will not make in a lifetime. The apathy is from a fan base that expects to see passion, conviction and talent. The sideline issue is not so much a coaching issue as it is individual desire to succeed in sport that requires passion. Similar to the individual that illustrates nothing in a business if some of these athletes care so little for the game, dress those that care and terminate the rest!
Trent Green is ONE concussion away from forgetting how to find his way home……….Somewhere Chris Miller is laughing from the freeway, still not having found HIS way home yet, At Least Everett had the Phantom Sack to drive him out of the game, All Bulger has is the classic “Deer in the Headlights” look……..
LOVE them Rams !!! Rammmminnnnggg Speeed !!!
I’ve never seen a Pro Sports Head Coach who has checked his stones at the door like Linehan. He gives new meaning to “Gut-less Wonder”, it’s shameful. Any leader who says he’s afraid to loose is no better than a gutted fish. The root cause of this phenomenon is Shaw and Ziggy. These two have shattered a nice man and turned him into a whimpering lap dog. Chip has a choice to make, his own personal gut check. Does he put up with the bubbling schiese that is the Rams Manegment, or does he channel a little of his dad and flush the cess-pool at Earth City? My bet is that if he wants to keep the fans in the seats and the money train rolling his next phone call will be a good plumber. (Ron Wolf comes to mind)
I think all of this collapse started with Mike Martz.Kurt Warner and letting Lovie Smith go.I place all this blame on that period.Linehan is a scapegoat for problem that has existed since Martz created all these problems in his final year.I say get rid of Linehan to satisfy who ever is stiring up all of his dismissal and bring in a coach such as Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, whenever he gets fired soon!!!!!!!!!!
I AM SPEAKING FOR THE RAMS FANS AND FOR MYSELF.YOU GUY’S
ARE PLAYING LIKE YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT WINNING.SO IF YOU
DON’T CARE WHY SHOULD THE FANS CARE.WHAT I AM TRYING TO
SAY IS IF YOU PLAY BETTER FOOTBALL AND TRY TO WIN. AND
NOT GET BLOWN AWAY AND START GETTING TOUCH DOWNS.AND
MAKING THE GAMES CLOSER THAT WOULD SHOW YOUR TRYING.
AND I THINK THAT WOULD MAKE THE FANS GET BE HIDE YOU
GUY’S.AND START JUMPING BACK ON YOUR BAND WAGON.
AND MAYBE YOU GUY’S CAN TURN THIS THING AROUND.
P.S. I NEVER JUMPED OFF THE BAND WAGON. I JUST
DIDN’T LIKE WHAT I WAS SEEING.I AM A TRUE RAMS FAN.
I WILL WRITE A LETTER ABOUT BEING A TRUE FAN.

Get rid of him asap. He is only half of the problem though, they need to get rid of Bulger while they’re at it.
