New Rams have old Mizzou ties
Hey Mizzou fans, two of the newest Rams played key roles in games vs. the Tigers — one with a happy ending and the other with a wrenching result:
>>Gary Stills, who agreed to terms with the Rams on Monday after the Ravens released him, was a standout linebacker on the West Virginia team that lost to MU 34-31 at the 1998 Insight.com Bowl in Tucson, Ariz. (Marc Bulger was WVU’s quarterback.) Stills has made his mark in the NFL mostly as a highly productive special-teams player.
>>Brannon Condren, signed after the Colts let him go Saturday, was a defensive back on the Troy (Ala.) University squad that stunned Mizzou 24-14 in 2004. Condren broke up a fourth-down pass in the final period, thwarting the Tigers’ comeback attempt. Condren, a safety in the NFL, was a fourth-round draft pick by Indy in 2007.

Notes & quotes:
>>After the Rams released him Saturday, offensive lineman Dustin Fry was claimed off waivers by both the Bengals and Browns. Neither team chose to sign Fry, a fifth-round Rams draftee last year. If they had, he would’ve earned at least $370,000, the league minimum for a second-year player. Instead, he’ll pick up about $80,000 if he remains on the Rams’ practice squad throughout the season.
>>When a TV reporter asked coach Scott Linehan to project the number of carries Steven Jackson could get Sunday at Philly, Linehan shot back sarcastically, “Fifty.”
>>Seriously, Linehan indicated that Jackson will get his share of work vs. the Eagles. “We’ll use him; we’re not going to inactivate him,” he said. “He’s going to be ready to go. We’ve really worked the conditioning level. He’s had one grueling week and had a lot of good snaps today.”
>>T Orlando Pace (shoulder), on the possibility of playing Sunday: “I feel good about it.”
>>WR/KR Dante Hall (ankle), on whether he’ll suit up vs. the Eagles: “Definitely.”
>>WR Drew Bennett (groin), on his health: “I feel good, and I’m looking to get in a full week of practice.”
All for now . . .
