Fakhir Brown re-joins Rams

Cornerback Fakhir Brown is back with the Rams. On Monday, Brown signed a one-year contract to rejoin the team.

To the surprise of many of his teammates, Brown was released Sept. 24, one of Scott Linehan’s last moves as head coach. Since Linehan was fired Sept. 29 and replaced by Jim Haslett, the Rams have been trying to re-sign Brown.

The need for more secondary help became even more paramount after Ricky Manning Jr. went down with a season-ending ankle injury in Sunday’s 19-17 victory at Washington.

All for now . . .

And let me guess…. he stayed away JUST long enough to keep the guaranteed salary from his previous contract’s stipulated terms and gets whatever he signed for today on TOP of that.

I can’t say that I blame Brown for the move, since he didn’t ask to be released, but it’s yet another brilliant move by the Rams.

Way to keep that cap room manageable, Jay!

Thank God Linehan is gone…and Shaw and Ziggy aren’t far behind.

Can you see them making this kind of stupid move in say…New England, or Dallas, or even Miami?

To the Rams future, it HAS to be better than this.

I have to say that of all the stupid things that stand out from the Linehan regime, releasing Fakhir Brown last month and Madison Hedgecock last year make me the most upset. Going back to Hedgecock. Here was a huge, hard blocking fullback that was released so that Linehan could bring on Richard Owens who played for Linehan in Minnesota. Made no sense then, still makes no sense because Owens isn’t even here. Releasing Brown but keeping Tye Hill who couldn’t defense the first 18 of 20 passes thrown his way in the first few games hurt the secondary. I know we have to keep Hill and there’s still a future for him, but to dump Brown for publicity purposes was ridiculous. This kind of process would never be tolerated with top shelf organizations.

At least we’ve removed one more memory of the Linehan era. Too bad we can’t replay the drafts of the last three years. Now we just need Shaw and Zygmunt to disappear and we can move on.

I’m glad Brown is back; he should have never been cut in the first place…He was the most productive corner the Rams had at the time…Linehan is a true donkey for cutting Brown…

With that said, HOW did Manning break his ankle? He wasn’t even touched! Turf injury?

On a different yet related note, did we even consider getting Tony Gonzales for our sorry offense? I mean no matter how slow or banged up Tony has become - he is still better than 95% of our offensive players.

No I don’t think we’ve considered Gonzalez. His reasoning behind a trade is to win a Superbowl. Needless to say that won’t be here.

Brown is a better cover guy simply put! Do you think Craft is being used wisely( he’s been burned a couple of times)? Are there better available cover guys? Oakland should be ready to unload some guys–any talented players left from that MESS we can pick up? Remedy–shore up O line and then get some D help in the secondary.
