Haslett steps up pace and conditioning
When asked Wednesday what had changed since Jim Haslett took over as head coach, linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa couldn’t resist taking a good-natured jab at the questioner. “The schedule’s the same, we still wear the same uniforms, the same helmets,” Tinoisamoa replied. “There’s more that’s the same than different” since Scott Linehan was fired last week.
His point was well-taken. Until we see Haslett’s Rams under game conditions, we won’t have a real sense of how the team will respond to him. So far, too obvious changes have surfaced:
1) Practices are conducted at a quicker tempo. “The pace has picked up,” guard Richie Incognito said. “We’re in and out of the huddle, and the defense is flying around. It’s upbeat, and there’s a lot more tempo.”
2) Haslett is determined to get the players into the best shape possible. He’s conducting conditioning drills twice a week. “It’ll benefit them in the long run,” Haslett said.

Notes & quotes:
*Recently signed CB Jason Craft has looked good in practice and has secured a spot in the lineup.
*WR Drew Bennett (foot) and RB Antonio Pittman (leg) did some light jogging Wednesday.
*Haslett, on returning to head-coaching: “There are some things I forget. Like today, somebody said, ‘Where are we practicing?’ And I was like, ‘Uhhhh … outside, I think.’ But it’s all coming back pretty fast.”
*QB Marc Bulger, on squaring off against the Redskins this Sunday: “Playing a great team like that, in the best division in football, on the road, it’s going to be tough. But we’ll see where we are. If we can somehow go in there and win, it could turn things around.”
All for now . . .
