Marc Bulger remains St. Louis Rams starting QB

Although he was noncommital Sunday in the wake of the Rams’ 47-3 thrashing at the hands of the New York Jets, Jim Haslett said Monday that Marc Bulger would remain the starting quarterback. Haslett said Trent Green suffered a minor injury to his right elbow while making a tackle after an interception, but should be available to back up Bulger on Sunday in San Francisco. The decision to start Bulger had nothing to do with Green’s elbow, Haslett stressed.

Haslett also disclosed that:

*CB Tye Hill was in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday, having his ailing knee checked out by Dr. James Andrews.

*RB Steven Jackson (thigh) remains day to day.

*WR/returner Derek Stanley suffered a high ankle sprain, but it’s not considered as serious as some such injuries are. He’s also day to day.

*LB Chris Draft (foot) probably will miss two more weeks.

*DE Eric Moore (neck) is still questionable.

All for now . . .

Starting Bulger? How much do we lose by this Sunday? Give Trent a shot.
This offense is going nowhere with Bulger, Holt and Jackson.

I agree with Tomar, Marc is playing with no emotion or leadership [rah, rah] feelings !! It’s like he’s being persecuted..
Maybe the 3rd. stringer could be a jewel in the rough, as Kurt Warner was !!
You don’t find out if ya don’t give them a chance !!

As we all know………the Rams draftS have sucked. It sure would be nice…in a lost year such as this, to be able to bring in a 3rd string QB that may have a future in this league as a #1. Instead, we have a 37 year old backup and a 3rd stringer that will never be a full time QB in the NFL. By the Rams lack of quality drafts, this team will not be able to turn the corner for at least two more seasons. Again, it would be nice to have a young gunslinging QB get his feet wet THIS year…but no, the Rams are stuck with a ‘has been’ (Green), a ‘never was’ (Bulger), and a ‘never will be’ (Berlin).

Sincerely,
Ryan Leaf

And to think they could have drafted Jay Cutler a few years ago. And why was Marc smiling in the fourth quarter of the game yesterday. I wonder if not keeping score in tee ball has made some players with very little competition in their game. Maybe they think that no one is keeping score like when they played teeball.

Also yesterday two former Rams Hedgecock and Curtis had great games and london is still tackling people and Warner is in first place. Gee we let all the great players leave.

Lifelong NJ born and bread Rams fan going back to the days of Roman, Les Josephson’s, Tom Mack and yes the feared “Fearsome Foursome”. I was there yesterday with my 10 year old Rams fan son in front of 90,000 Jets fan. What I thought was a $200 treat to see what I told him was a chance to see our team play hard and be a spoiler end up in complete embarrassment after 15 minutes of football. His wearing #39 jersey made for a very uncomfortable halftime. After he asked why the Rams don’t even play hard like the Jets do, I told him it was time to leave. We went to my division III college football field where I was a back up quarterback and threw the ball and ran patterns. Best 2 hours we could have spent. The lesson he learned was only if his football team tried as hard as dad did to become a backup in division III. Maybe something good did come out of a horrible display of a NFL team.

Chip, you know what they are you simply need to make the big boy decisions.

Jim Haslett said, either this team is just not capable, or the players just do not want to do it. Well, as a loyal longtime fan, I have STOPPED watching them for the season. Who wants to waste their Sunday watching this team make a complete fool of themselves on the field. Bulger, your a nice guy, but this team needs to show some Ram’s pride on that field. The fans are so angry, most have probably moved on to other Sunday activities. It is healthier than screaming at a TV set for 3 hours

I guess if you’re making a million a game, you gotta show up and toss the ball around a bit.

Lifelong Rams fan from NJ. Go back to Roman, Les Josephson, Billy Truax and yes the Fearsome Foursome. Well I went to the game with my 10 year old son wearing a #39 jersey in front of 90,000 Jets fans. What a waste of 200 dollars. Needless to say after a mear 15 minutes of Rams playing flag football it was very uncomfortable for each of us. Not that NJ/NY Northeast sports fan intimidated me (us) it was simply embarrassing to be there. Halftime we left and went to my division III college football field where I was a backup quarterback, yes back up and ran patterns throwing the ball for 2 hours. The more I thought about it something good did come from a horrible display of professionalism of a NFL team. When asked Dad “why don’t the Rams play hard like the Jets did today” my response was if only the Rams played with the heart of a college kid trying to make a Division III football team.

Chip you know what they are please step up and make the big boy decsions.

Bulger, Please ENOUGH of this Wimp’; He plainly Sux… I for one will not be watching this mediocre NFL Salary thief again. Enough is Enough. Next Sack I fully anticipate the GREAT MARC will curl up in the fetal position and start sucking his thumb.

The EvaluatorMan says give him his walking papers, absorb the losses and then move on.

Tough to say we should’ve drafted this guy or that guy but at least we know, going into the next draft, what we need. Fortunately, the silver lining is a high draft pick. Maybe we draft Chase Daniel this year and turn the page. I know it seems like a homer move but the guys got skills and seems to have the right attitude.

Sorry to reaad the John Eckel note, because I feel the same…

Used to have season tix for them when they were still in Anahiem.
My uncle first took me to the colesium to see ‘em. VERY 1st PLAY FROM SCRIMMAGE — Willie Ellison, 80 yds. vs. the NO Saints.

I’M HOOKED FOREVER.

Now I’m in Oregon. Taking my kid to SF this weekend. 8 hrs on the road…and I’m almost sad to go…

Not because they might lose, but because they might play like they are not trying. Might play again like they don’t care. I’m sure they do care, I’m sure they are trying, but I’m also sure it doesn’t look that way.

Saw Klop and Bell jogging after the fumble recovery runner…it’s sad…

Maybe it’ll rain to hard…

Its time to clean house. Let all the coaches go because obviously they aren’t doing the jobs they are paid to do. We need to bring in Marty from San Diego or Bill Cowher. I don’t blame Marc Bulger either, if Tom Brady were getting hit like he is this season and all last season I’m sure he wouldn’t put up the numbers he has in the last couple years. All I’m saying is a QB needs time to throw and Marc has none. So instead of bashing him why don’t we bash the offensive line and the offensive line coaches.

I would trade Bulger and a bag of footballs to KC for Thigpen at this point. Stop the excuses teams play with backups all the time and win let alone compete. We have to be like “Dixie” and start pulling weeds. At least 20 players on this roster need to find a new home.

GO RAMS

I have 50 yard line tickets to see the Rams play the 49′ers this Sunday….. I WANT TO SEE TRENT GREEN AT QUARTERBACK!!!!! I WILL “BLOW” ABOUT $500.00 WORTH OF THESE TICKETS THIS SUNDAY IF “MARK BULGER” IS THE QUARTERBACK!! Hey…I bet “Mark Bulger” and the former sorry head coach Scott Linehan are the sole reasons why the “Rams” aren’t on and won’t be on “Monday Night Football” in the near future!!! Please…”Chip”… bring this team back to “LA” where we will hold “our” NFL team accountable for “Success”!! Thank You!! Go Rams….:(

i ve f5433ng had enough of this sh88t it seems that anybody who takes a head coaching position in this {what i would call mickey mouse organization except it would be an insult to mickey mouse) has their pea sized brain goe into a fu786ing coma and decides that if trent green cant provide a f&^%%^ing miracle in a few minutes playing time we will just continue to let bulger p44ss away game after f5478ing game. enough already!! i say send haslett packing he’s a born f8765ing loser and keeps trying hard to prove it.Where is the outrage thats due this entire fiasco!!!

I said it before, and i will say it again. Bulger sucks. He is terrible and doesnt seem to give a s**t what happens out there. Isnt this about who the fans want to see? Lets see one of the two backups. I dont care which…but i just cant watch Bulger.

You can’t solve this in one draft, so you have to start with a rebuild of the defense. Defenses win football games. Leave the line alone and get a TRUE middle linebacker. The last good MLB they had was London Fletcher. Witherspoon is a good and talented player, but he is not a MLB. Stop the run with as few players as possible and you will have better success stopping the pass. They made Thomas Jones look like a hall of famer. When will they realize…………

Mike Q.,

I and my son will be in front of the TV this weekend to root on our beloved Rams. Difference is I will be rooting for you and your son as much if not more than the Rams to have a decent showing from our team.

By the way remember Cullen Bryant, Rich Saul, Isaias Robertson, Harold Jackson, Larwence McChucion etc..? Oh man if we could only back that intenssity to play hard we’d be talking 2008 playoffs vs. 2009 first round pick. good luck buddy

What’s it gonna take to unseat Marc Bulger?

First and foremost, he has no leadership. He just doesn’t care if the team wins or not. He never did, and he never will.

Bengals need 3rd QB really bad. We can trade Bulger there.

1373 passing yards is 26th among all the QBs started (behind rookies like Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan, wash-up/emergency QBs like Derek Anderson, Gus Frerotte)

6 Passing TDs (Total TD). That’s less than Tyler Thigpen’s 8 TDs, who started like 4 games this season compared to Bulger’s 8 games.

Passer rating of 73.5 is 28th in the league. That’s behind Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, J.T. O’Sullivan (who’s benched), and Dan Orlovsky (Lion’s backup QB)

Completion percentage of 56.3% is perfect if it was 40 years ago, when Unitas was playing, but is ranking nowadays in 28th, behind Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Lions QB Dan Orlovsky

You know, but stats don’t mean anything to QBs. Gus Frerotte, who statistically is similar to Bulger, is winning tons of close games.

BUT WE ARE NOT WINNING SINGLE FREAKING GAME IN WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE ARE GETTING RAP-ED BY OTHER TEAMS FOR REASON

MARC BULGER TURNOVER AND SHI*TINESS, OVERRATED AND WASTE OF MONEY STEVEN JACKSON, OLD HOLT, CRAPPY DEFENSE.

IT WAS A FREAKING MIRACLE TO WIN A SINGLE FREAKING GAME.

I’M DISGUSTED BY EVERY SINGLE BIT OF RAMS

BENCH MARC BULGER!!!!!!!!!

When Loserhan started the season I knew it was a waste. Haslett gave me hope and for 2 games it looks like he did motivate this bunch of losers. Now however, he seems stuck on a loser quarterback who’s forgotten he’s in the NFL. Oh well, back to rooting for the Colts & Giants, Go Eli & Payton

Did anyone else notice Bulger laughing during the 4th quarter of the game yesterday? There wasn’t much time left but apparently Marc found humour in yesterday’s blowout loss.

That sickens me. Nothing should make you laugh in a 47-3 blowout loss. Nothing!

10:14 pm November 10th, 2008

This bunch of overpaid losers don’t want to play? Then bench them all and give the youngsters the playing time. Anyone not making an effort trade them off the team, they’re a bad influence in the club house and on the field. Maybe we could get a few cheerleaders for these loosers. I’m not sure Bulger could win a high school game the way he’s played the last few games. Sure hasn’t showed anything called “Leadership” with his poor passing.

The Rams are a losing team this year and we just have to accept that. They don’t have any QB able to compete. A football team without a decent QB ain’t worth a ****. The whole thing is in the tank. Bulger gets the ball and instead of looking for receivers, he starts looking to see if anyone is coming his way. Just watch him, its obvious. When the front office changes, the team will change. Not until then.

Replacing Bulger does not equal instant success. Put a rookie QB behind that offensive line and you will destroy his psyche and career by the fourth game…especially when the fans rip into him. Build a quality offensive line, then put a young QB…just like what the Cardinals planned, only Leinhart has not panned out so far and once the offensive line got better Kurt started rolling. Only a proven veteran QB or incredible younger QB can learn a new offensive system to operate effectively within a year’s time…provided he has a good offensive line. The problem is fans don’t pay to see line players…only the team’s superstars…they love to see Steven run, but don’t consider it’s Orlando’s blocking that provided the opportunity. Everything starts at the line.

For those that think we got whipped because Bulger is not a great leader…since when is it the QB’s job to provide incentive to play hard (forget well). A team with a mute QB will have harder working players with more pride!

The rams offense is in trouble. I believe it is the scheme not the players. There offense might work for a cohesive veteran group, but that is not what the Rams have. The Rams need a High draft choice quarterback at least to push Bolger, create a competitive air.(look at Arizona). Bolger needs some compatition to drive him, get the fire going. The Rams also need better play out of their offensive line, and they need to develop a short passing game to quick playmakers. If they can’t run the ball they are hopeless. they have to devlop a short high percentage passing game to keep the defense off balance. This will also open up the running game. Why not line up jackson in the slot with two tight ends.

— Ken Tarlow
12:17 pm November 11th, 2008

Have to agree with Josh. Any team wanting to have success needs a good offensive line, this line is just offensive. Trade down from that high first rounder and get some better talent.

4:16 pm November 11th, 2008

I say fire every1 and start from scratch!! This season is a wash, and aside from the janitor this ENTIRE organization needs to be rebulit from the bottom up. Sarcastic yes, (and believe me I like Bulger but every1 knows we gave up on Kurt too soon) but I pay DirecTV entirely too much money to watch this team every week and end the day with yet another disappointment. Maybe we should get Mike Singletary to come and drop his pants at half time…. well maybe not…. The 9er’s stink 2! They should call this weekends game “The Toilet Bowl”. Who will win?? WHO CARES!!
