Situation at running back unchanged

It appears that nothing has changed in the Rams’ backfield situation. At practice this morning (indoors), Kenneth Darby and Samkon Gado are getting the reps with the first team. Steven Jackson (thigh) wasn’t even at practice, at least in the early going. Antonio Pittman (hamstring) is doing some running. Travis Minor (concussion) is just watching.

After practice, here’s what coach Jim Haslett said to reporters about Jackson:

Q.: Will Jackson play Sunday?

Haslett: “We’ll find out tomorrow. If he doesn’t go tomorrow, he won’t go in the game on Sunday.”

Q. How do RBs Kenneth Darby and RB Sam Gado look?

Haslett: “I think they’re doing well. We’ll see in the game, that’ll be the test, but I think they work hard, they’re both smart guys, they run hard and I’m excited about watching them work this week.”

Jackson also spoke to reporters after practice.

Q.: Is it realistic that you can practice this week?

Jackson: “A full practice, probably not, to be honest with you. I am surely hoping that I come in tomorrow and something miraculous happens, and I can come in and give a full practice because that is what (Haslett) wants. I have had a discussion with him but I was unable to do it today.”

Q.: Is the injury getting better?

Jackson: “It is getting better, but with a hamstring, a quad or groin, those kinds of injuries, one day you feel great and the next day the slightest tweak could really set you back. That is what I am dealing with right now. One day I feel great, I feel like I can go and when it is time for me to show and prove that I am ready, it is just not responding the way we want it to.”

Jim, if you had just pulled Jackson after the 3rd quarter like any other reasonable coach, worthy of a job in the NFL, would have done, you wouldn’t find yourself in this situation.

I guess Belichek shouldnt be a coach because Brady got hurt. What logic. Its football and injuries happen in football. And roethlisberger got hurt so should they get rid of his coach.

And remember when Green got hurt in the preseason game in 99? maybe they should have got rid of Vermeil. But then Warner came in to lead the team. Haslett is a great coach, so I guess you want him to put all the players in bubble wrap so they don’t get hurt.

Just root on Darby and Gadko until SJ returns.

O Line O line Oline. We need blocking up front. OK I will settle for just Greco in at guard and slide Incognito to center, I know the Rams have to stick with Bell because he was the big off season addition at the other guard position. Leckey is to small to handle Jets NT Jenkins.

Ramsfan,

How can you compare Brady getting injured early in a game that was not yet close to being decided to Jackson getting injured in the 4th quarter of a blowout victory over a team with an elderly backup at QB???? Seriously, help me understand this reasoning?!!?

I’m with NewYorkRam on this one ramsfan. Please clarify your position because your analogies make no sense at all.
