St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson already ruled out for Sunday’s game
There will be no intrigue this week regarding Steven Jackson’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Bears. Jackson already has been ruled out, meaning that the strained thigh muscle that originally was thought to be a one- or two-day injury is extending toward six weeks.
Jackson was injured in the fourth quarter Oct. 19 against the Cowboys. He reaggravated the injury two weeks later when he tried to come back vs. the Cardinals, and has been sidelined since then.
Jackson saw a specialist late last week. “They feel that he should be out this week, rest him,” coach Jim Haslett said. “We’ll see what happens next week.” The injury was rediagnosed as a strain. “It’s just going to take some time to heal,” Haslett said.
Elsewhere on the injury front:
*LT Orlando Pace will miss two to four weeks a knee ligament injury.
*CB Ron Bartell is day-to-day with a soft-tissue injury to his knee.
*RB Kenneth Darby has a slight strain of his ribs.
*LB Chris Draft (foot) will be out two to three more weeks.
*DT La’Roi Glover has torn cartilage in his knee, originally suffered a couple of weeks ago, but should be able to play.
*CB Tye Hill (knee) will resume jogging this week.
*G Richie Incognito (shoulder) was scheduled for an MRI exam later Monday.
*DE Eric Moore (neck) will return to practice this week.

Notes & quotes:
*After a discussion with his coaching staff Monday, Haslett has decided to stick with Marc Bulger at QB.
*If Incognito is out Sunday, rookie John Greco will start at RG . . . if Greco’s left knee is OK. His kneecap popped out of place briefly in practice Friday.
*Adam Goldberg will step in for Pace at LT.
All for now . . .

The only advantage of starting Bulger Sunday is that I can leave at half-time and go home.
Haslett continues to prove he doesn’t deserve the job.
I have had tickets since 1995 and enough is enough. What game is he watching on Sunday?
I’ll keep my Mizzou tickets. At least when Missouri was losing, the coaching decisions made sense.
Wow….is that a grim tale!
I’m not a Bulger fan by any means. But how is it his fault that they scored 35 pts by half? If you say its b/c of his fumble and INT. The INT is b/c there is no running game to speak of so he has to make harder throws into double coverage. But that being said Bulgers 2 turnovers gave them 14 points. That’s still not 35. Oh by the way where was the Defense? I’m for real b/c I didn’t see any Sunday. The only time the D stopped them was when they had 2nd sting guys in or they stopped themselves. If you’re looking to finger point you are looking in the wrong direction. Since you don’t seem to know much about football I’m going to give you a clue. Football games are won and lost in the trenches and we have no one in the trenches that can do anything. Until the rams get some quality guys on the line on both sides of the ball the rams will be losers.
It’s getting uglier by the minute.
My thoughts:
Bears 39
Rams 10
65,000 tickets sold………44,000 show. Of this amount, 10,000 of them will be Bears fans. Bring your paper bags Rams fans - I know I will be.
It doesnt matter who plays QB they will have no time to throw and have crappy plays called to young wideouts who are still learning or forcing the ball to our cranky vet who is less than thrilled with his stats. Oh also the fact that no one is scared of our running game doesnt help the QB either. Give Bulger a break you dont become one of the fastest to 20,000 yards by sucking.

It’s not Bulger’s fault, but he made it easier for the 49ers to score. Since games are won in the trenches as you say then why should Bulger be the QB? Why not Green or Berlin? I say spare Bulger the misery and beating. Guy has taken enough.
Clearly Bulger is not the only Ram to be blamed, but let’s be honest, he is playing very poorly. Both interceptions were thrown into double coverage, he shouldn’t have thrown them and a running game won’t improve his poor judgement. I see a trend here with Haslett, ”after discussion with his coaching staff Monday, Haslett decided to stick with Marc Bulger at QB”, I seem to remember that same story at least two weeks running now. Green certainly isn’t the future, but at least give Berlin a shot, maybe the Rams can even move the pocket if they can get a QB that can do something other than just stand there. Greatest play Bulger has made all year was his scramble for a first down, unfortunately that is the rare exception. Make a change Haslett, at least try to do something different.
Jackson,
6 weeks for a strained quad! 6 weeks! Are you kiddin me?
Why do these guys continue to hurt themselves by holding out of camp as negotiating leverage? I don’t so much mind the hold out if you’re gonna come in ready to play. Clearly, he didn’t do that. I only hope when/if he does come back he keeps his stupid mouth closed and earns his money! 6 weeks! Jeez!
I like the way Pitman and Darby ran. The Rams have talent. They need to protect Bulger to the max, and call better plays on O. On D move Carricker to DE and rotate Adenjeyo in, no Glover or Little. Move Culberson to MLB and Witherspoon to OLB. Blitz and taclke on D. Go Rams!!!
Why not try someone else at qb for a while. Bulger needs to rest and we can evaluate our backup needs for next year. He keeps throwing into double and triple coverage and his long ball isnt long enough for speedy Avery. With rest, he could come back and be the precision passing qb from a couple years ago. And hey who knows, maybe we will find a few wins before the season ends. Also, why do we have a 2nd and 3rd string qb if we arent going to use them. Warner rested and now look at how he is playing.
Bulger should not be the QB next year so there is no reason to continue to play him this year. I was originally supportive of Haslett because he talked about learning from his mistakes in N.O. He is making the same mistake in sticking with a QB that is not performing. Don’t talk about injuries as every team suffers them. The Pats don’t have their All Pro QB and their starting RB. Have an aging D, but they still win or are competitive in every game. The problem is the losing culture that has been allowed to fester in the locker room. It started in hiring Linahan, no head coaching experience, didn’t jell with the veterans, etc. Now, the blame is on the same veterans that squabbled with SL. Prime targets are Bulger, Holt, Pace, etc. As a TV viewer of the Rams I can’t see why anyone is willing to pay to attend the games in person.
FOR ANYONE TO SAY OH, IT AIN’T BUGLER’S FAULT THAT THE RAMS ARE LOSERS IS RIGHT, BUT HE IS A HUGE PART OF THE PROBLEM. THE OTHER HUGE PROBLEM CONSIST OF HASSLETT, THE NEW OWNERS, COACHING STAFF, AND THE ENTIRE DEFENSE AND OFFENSE. THE WHOLE DAMN ORGANIZATION IS THE PROBLEM RIGHT NOW. OH, HOW LIFE HAS CHANGED SINCE LOSING WARNER. LET’S FACE PEOPLE WHEN THEY DECIDED WARNER FINGER WAS THE PROBLEM AND HIM THROWING TO MANY INTERCEPTIONS WAS THE PROBLEM THEY WERE QUICK TO REPLACE HIM WITH BULGER WHO NEVER WON A SUPERBOWL IN HIS LIFE, AND NEVER WILL. WHY IS ARIZONA LEADING THE NFC WEST? WHY IS WARNER PUTTING UP 30+ POINTS A GAME? AND PACE NEEDS TO RETIRE HE’S DONE AND BEEN DONE. HE STAYS INJURIED MORE THAN HEALTHY ANYWAY, AND I JUST LOVE HOW EVERY SEASON EVERYBODY WANTS TO PLAY INJURIED ON THE RAMS. WATCH NEXT YEAR IT WILL BE THE SAME DAMN THING. ANDAS FAR AS THE GAME AGAINST CHICAGO LOOK FOR THAT SCORE TO LOOK MORE LIKE 42-13 CHICAGO. 2009 THE RAMS WILL BE 4-12 SO ONCE AGAIN IT WILL BE THE SAME OLD TIRED AS RAMS.
Watching the pathetic performance of the so called professional football team called the St. Louis Rams is a shame.
It seems every week there is another excuse or someone else to blame for their loss.
The money this team pays to their poor excuse of a quarterback and self admired running back is almost too much to imagine.
How fans can keep going to the games and paying their money so the Rams can keep paying these two cannot be justified in any way.
During this past Sunday’s loss, it was decided to switch over and watch the Godfather movie. But this turned out to be the same as the game, how many times can you watch this?
At least the football Cardinals gave us a little excitement and they had real players who played, hurt or not. They earned their money.
How long can Haslett stick with Bulger ? This is a total ” joke “
I wonder if we could beat the Lions, seriously? This is the saddest team Ive ever seen in any league. I pray St.Louis doesn’t loose the Rams, we are very lucky to have an NFL team. Who knows what will happen now. The rams history in St.Louis isn’t deep enough to have team that is uncompetitive and plays like the softest men known to man. I mean seriously, try to get someone who knows nothing about football interested in the NFL by watching the Rams with them. It is impossible. The fan base is decreasing rapidly, and it wouldn’t be like this if they would just compete. JUST COMPETE. They don’t have to win, just show they are men and care about their self respect. But it is obvious that no man on the Rams has self respect. They are all soft, and worthless. Very, very sad.
This off season will be the biggest maybe in the history of the Rams, I think they really need to clean house top to bottom. Everybody except Long, Avery and Burton should be available in trades. We need to acquire as many early draft picks as possible. Keep Devaney in the front office- he knows what he is doing.
Enough with SJax- put him on IR and move on- I can’t believe he is this soft! Remember Jack Youngblood played in the Super Bowl w/ a broken leg.
I can really see the Rams moving back to LA- they have lost the fan base with the mismanagement of this franchise since the GSOT days. The y will then say they have zero support in St. Louis and the NFL needs a team in L.A.- the excuses and reasons have now been aligned.
Well, it certainly looks like that this team needs to be dismantled and reassembled in the off season. a couple of Big DTs would do wonders for stopping the run,OH and a remedial course in tackling 101.
AND lose the high school uniforms, bring back the blue and gold.
Jackson is a waste -
Pace is a waste
The whole front line is a waste (and never addressed by the team, except for false start Barron)
Until this franchise realizes that you have to control a line of scrimmage, they will NEVER improve.
Even the GSOT (greatest show on turf) could not survive this lack of an offensive line.
THEN THERE IS THE DEFENSE ….. oh, do we have one?????
………. and this is why I love Cardinal baseball!
Mr. Haslett, I gave you the benefit of doubt when you took over and I hoped for the best. There is no benefit and I no longer trust your decisions. You obviously don’t care about being the head guy next year any more than Bulger. I guess you are both set up for life at this point and can afford to screw this thing up as much as you want.
I’m a huge Ram fan from Los Angeles going on 30years so I’ve seen a lot and have been through tough times but this is ridiculous…
Jim H. is at best a Def coordinator and has no business running a team, the answer is Marty S. (Marty-Ball) bring him on…
Our organization is chaotic beginning with ownership to upper management to players being miserable and just quitting on the team.
Everyone needs to be evaluated from top to bottom and get rid of whoever doesn’t want to be here. We need to nip the loosing culture
now before we become the perennial laughing stock of the NFL. (again) I know we’ve had a lot of injuries but that’s not an excuse they’re
all Pros and need to step up. I believe there’s many factors why we SUCK and it’s mainly in part of ownership, GM, coaching and scouting .
I never liked Scott and I’m not trying to excuse him but how we’re playing obviously he was only a part of the problem and solely responsible.
Still #1 RAM fan…
ok first off marc bulger is still the starting qb because hes the best one we have, trent grenn is way to old and brock berlin couldn’t even win games in college. secondly, leonard little is a much better defensive end then carriker will ever be, but i agree that glover needs to come out. and really? y would u put quentin culberson in at mlb? will witherspoons natural position is olb but we should wait til the draft to get a new mlb. and as soon as steven jackson stops being a pansy, the rams will once again win some games.
