St. Louis Rams won’t discipline Richie Incognito

For those of you who wanted to see petulant guard Richie Incognito sent packing, or at least disciplined in some manner . . . it’s not going to happen. Not yet, anyway.

In order, Incognito over the last few days:

*Criticized the Rams fans.

*Flipped an obscene gesture as he was being filmed at practice by a local TV station.

*Egged on the fans at the Edward Jones Dome after Sunday’s 27-3 loss to the Bears, then denied having done so to reporters a few minutes later.

But coach Jim Haslett said Monday that after talking with Incognito, he plans no action against him. But Haslett stressed that Incognito is on a very short leash.

“I heard about the situation yesterday, and I met with him this morning to discuss it,” Haslett said. “I’ve heard about five or six different versions, so I’m not really sure which scenario is the actual one. That being said, I don’t condone it, I’m not really sure what he gets out of it. If it’s a joke or if it’s not a joke, I think the team takes it very serious, coming off the loss. I think he should understand that.

“The way we played and the way the situation came out, I don’t think we can stand for that anymore, and I think he understands that. I told him it was inappropriate at the time, especially after (a lopsided defeat). If it happens again, then obviously whatever action we can take as a team would hurt both him and this football team. I think he understands that, and I think he understands that it can’t happen again.”

Notes & quotes:

*RB Steven Jackson (thigh) suffered no ill effects after going through a strenuous workout Saturday. He ran again Monday and is expected to return to practice Wednesday.

*C Nick Leckey broke a bone in his foot during the pregame warmups and will be placed on injured reserve Tuesday. He is the ninth Rams player to suffer a season-ending injury.

*T Orlando Pace (knee) also will try to practice Wednesday.

*QB Marc Bulger (concussion) is scheduled for a neuro exam Wednesday.

*LB Will Witherspoon now has two shoulder injuries. He sustained a slight labrum tear vs. the Bears, but Haslett is optimistic that he won’t miss any playing time. If he can’t go Sunday vs. the Dolphins, rookie David “Mr. Irrelevant” Vobora will get the start.
All for now . . .

Read between the lines……Lechey is on the IR with a broken foot now. Haslett and the Rams can’t afford to sit Incognito down or suspend him. Not with the Rams lack of experienced linemen. If you start both Greco and Schuenig next week, Bulger/Green/Berlin will get their heads banged even worse than the Bears game. Neither needs another concussion. In a perfect world, “Dick” Incognito would be suspended or cut. But, the Rams have zero depth on the O line. Although Incognito is truly a bonehead, according to Jim Hanifan, Incognito has been grading out well prior to the Bears games. Look, if Schuenig or Greco were better than him, the Rams would be playing by now. The players know that, too. It’s not like the coaches are infatuated with Incognito without reason. Don’t assume the Rams are at rock bottom. It could be worse if Bulger or Green were to suffer a serious injury. And, much as it pains us, Bulger will probably return next year.

Well, color me conspiracy-theorist paranoid, but isn’t this how (Big Red/Indy-Baltimore/Cleveland-Baltimore/et al) wound down its time (as it was inching towards Moving Day)? This is starting to look more-and-more like Late-era Laurie-era Blues…ugh. Come on, Rams: Certainly you owe your fans better than Richie I gave them?

Who would conceivably want to watch this garbage in person and spend dearly at that for the privelege. I love football but this has become a joke- Take a lesson Incognito—London Fletcher would always stand back there and implore the crowd to ramp up the noise but then again he was a quality player who has been dearly missed. You’re just a tattooed turnstyle. I wish they’d cut you so you your next job could be standing at the entrance to the dome letting 60,000 people turn your arms and click by you like every D-line in the league does every Sunday.

It’s hard to support the Rams when they keep putting guys out there like Incognito.

Haslett has dropped the ball on this. I can’t beleive he said there are different versions of what happened. Doesn’t he have a TV? I didn’t even watch the game and I’ve seen his actions several times. He is a punk and should be benched or traded for a football player. He will make a great has been, that never was.

You just cannot allow this sort of behavior, period. I understand if you don’t have anyone to replace him but you have to do something. FINE HIM. Jim, talk is cheap and apparently it does not work with RI.

This is a sad sack FB team and I just cannot believe they are allowing this behavior.

Haslett is letting this punk make a fool out of him and the entire Rams organization. Richie is probably telling his friends how Haslett is afraid to cross him because he doesn’t have a replacement. I’ve got a 13 year old grandson that would stop more players than he has this year. He reminds me of a revolving door. When someone runs into him he just turns away.

Richie Incognito, how about you just shut the old pie hole and block. We will reward you with our applause when you earn it. All of that ink you sport is not scaring the guy across the line so maybe you just better brush up your technique and quit worrying about who is cheering and who is not. You are far too prone to basic mistakes. Not something a highly paid pro would continue to do. If you do not like that take the first bus out and take that injury prone big mouth Jackson with you! You really have proven at least one thing..N is for knowledge!

Please remember the rams front office knew what they were getting when they drafted Richie, further proof we need to overhaul the front office.

Haslett didn’t know if it was true or not? Someone should buy
him a paper, it has pictures and reading it is not needed.
At least the good news is you don’t have to stay up really late
to see the Rams highlights… 1 kick and your done. Whats sad is our kickers are the teams high scorers…….
