St. Louis Rams weigh in on Plaxico Burress episode
Quick question: Who’s your pick for the league MVP, and why? Thanks in advance.

The Plaxico Burress accidental shooting and subsequent fine and suspension were fodder for discussion Wednesday at Rams Park. Here’s what some of the Rams had to say on the subject:
*Linebacker Chris Draft: “For him, it’s unfortunate. He almost really hurt himself. But there’s a lot of guys out there that doesn’t apply to. So, hopefully people just see it as him and not as kind of an indictment on the whole NFL. . . . I’m not sure exactly why he would carry (a gun). Me, growing up in Southern California, I never wanted to touch one. If somebody had one, I’d run the other way –- run real fast the other way.”
*Cornerback Ron Bartell: “It’s a crazy world out there. I don’t agree with taking a gun to a club, but when you look at the situation that went on there last week, one of his teammates (Steve Smith) being robbed at gunpoint, somebody putting a gun to his head out in front of his house. Or when you have a guy like Sean Taylor, who was killed in his house, or (Richard) Collier down in Jacksonville shot 14 times.
“We’re easy targets. I know a lot of people want to (say) we don’t have to protect ourselves, but we do. I don’t condone the way he went about it. It’s a big amount of responsibility to be in the position we’re in, no matter who you are. There’s a lot of envy out there. You see the economy where it is right now. There are a lot of guys out there who really don’t care what you do.
“You are a target and you do have to protect yourself. You have to go about it the right way, though.”
*Quarterback Marc Bulger: “You definitely are going to have more attention, but you put yourself in those situations. If you carry a gun into public and something like this happens . . . I’m sure he didn’t mean for it to happen, but you have to be aware of that.”

Notes & quotes:
*Chris Draft returned to practice Wednesday a month after breaking a bone in his foot. Coach Jim Haslett said that if Draft is ready, he’ll start at MLB on Sunday at Arizona.
*Rookie Chris Chamberlain worked some with the first team Wednesday and will see some playing at SLB vs. the Cardinals, Haslett said.
*Haslett hinted that CB Tye Hill, out two months with a knee injury, might be placed on injured reserve.
*RB Steven Jackson should get more touches Sunday; he had 22 vs. Miami. “He looked good to me today, so we’ll add some of the reps based off how he feels,” Haslett said. “But he’ll get back in the swing of things full-go here.”
All for now . . .
