A vote for Pennington as MVP
Stream of consciousness:
*If I’d had an MVP vote, it would’ve gone to Chad Pennington. The Dolphins don’t even come close to 11-5 without him.
*How ironic that Eric Mangini had Brett Favre foisted on him with the Jets, lost Pennington in the process, then got fired after Favre tanked down the stretch.
*Has Favre announced his retirement yet?
*Kurt Warner surely has a number of fans in St. Louis, but what about the Big Red (aka Desert Rats) in general? Hate ‘em or love ‘em?
*I was more impressed with Leslie Frazier’s Minnesota defense than I was with Rex Ryan’s Baltimore defense Sunday. Frazier doesn’t have nearly the talent Ryan does.
*A Rams front-office type once dismissed Darren Sproles, then at Kansas State, as a “midget.” The little fella was a giant for the Chargers on Saturday, eh?
*With the Colts out, the 9-8 Chargers are the hottest team still alive. They’ve won five straight.
*Ray Lewis can still bring it.
*Nice to see ex-Rams wideout and good guy Kevin Curtis finally healthy and participating in the Eagles’ success.
*To Rams fans showing interest inĀ Michael Vick . . . uh, no.
*This just in: Rams GM Billy Devaney has sought permission to interview every assistant coach in the NFL.
All for now . . .

Pennington for MVP?
What a maroon. That sure was an MVP-worthy performance at home against Baltimore, eh?
As for your argument that the Dolphins wouldn’t have been anywhere near 11-5 without him:
1) The Dolphins’ offense is predicated on a formation in which your ostensible MVP QB doesn’t even take the snap,
2) The Colts would have been challenging the Rams for draft position without Peyton Manning. His worth to the Colts’ 12-4 record far outweighs Pennington’s worth to the Dolphins’ 11-5 record, and,
3) Manning threw for 3 TDs in leading the Colts to a 31-3 route of the Ravens *in Baltimore* - contrasted to either of Pennington’s at-home performances against the same Ravens team.
Regarding Sproles: lots of special-teams yards, due primarily to the game’s true MVP: Punter Scrifes, who pinned the Colts inside their 10 about six times. The Colts’ Hunter Smith set up a lot of those Sproles returns by being forced to punt out of the Colts’ end zone numerous times.
That was easily the single best performance by a punter, ever.
