Not only did Leslie Frazier get a job interview with the St. Louis Rams, he got a couple of meals out of his trip to Los Angeles. Frazier, the assistant head coach-defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings, was the first of three head-coaching candidates to hold his finalist interview with team ownership and front office members.
Frazier’s formal interview lasted a few hours with team owners Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, senior advisor John Shaw, and general manager Billy Devaney all on hand. It’s believed that Rams director of player personnel Lawrence McCutcheon also was present for the interview.
According to league sources, the Rams were impressed with Frazier’s interview. He came across as thoughtful and organized. On Tuesday night, Frazier had dinner with Devaney and McCutcheon. Before leaving town Wednesday morning, Frazier had breakfast with Devaney.
A source close to Frazier said he left Los Angeles feeling comfortable with the Rams’ ownership and front office personnel that he met.
Dallas assistant head coach-offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is scheduled to interview with the Rams Wednesday, and New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is due to interview Thursday.
