St. Louis Rams hire their “cap man” _ Kevin Demoff
One of the last major pieces of the Ram’s front office restructuring is now in place. Kevin Demoff, who has spent the past four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has been hired as the team’s executive vice president of football operations-chief operating officer.
For the past three seasons in Tampa Bay, Demoff has been the Bucs’ senior assistant, a job that entailed helping general manager Bruce Allen (who was fired after the 2008 season) in contract negotiations and salary cap management, among other duties.
Demoff, the son of longtime NFL player agent Marvin Demoff, will handle all player contract negotiations and will serve as liaison to ownership on football and business operations. In terms of those duties, Demoff replaces Jay Zygmunt, who ended a nearly 30-run with the team at the end of the ‘08 season.
Before joining the Bucs, Demoff was director of football operations for the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League for four years. He also served as editorial consultant for “The NFL Show” on Fox Sports Net during part of that time he was with the Avengers.

-I wouldn’t expect the return of “the greatest show on turf” anytime soon.
We dont expect that to return, we are expecting a new greatest show - The Greatest Defense on TURF!
So who reports to whom between Demoff and Devaney?
who cares who reports to who they are all good people looking for the best interest of the rams organization so all will be in harmony …i sure hope everyone agrees with that lol
The key to this piece that tells me it is positive…….’In terms of those duties, Demoff replaces Jay Zygmunt”
Good organizations partly care about “who.” They are also smart enough to care about “what.” You can never control people, who they are, how they will change, and clashes are inevitable between creative strong egos. You fix that in advance by having a clear chain of command. If you don’t do that you invite problems that snarl up the process. So who reports to whom is a fair question and as interested fans we should care about the answer.
If you look at strong and winning organizations: Detroit Red Wings, New England Patriots,L.A. Lakers, and Boston Red Sox, they all have a solid foundation, that is personnel from the inside out that know what their jobs are, and are VERY good at what they do.
Even in these economic times when things have gone sour, companies like Micro Soft, General Electric, and Apple Computers have people who are vital for knowing how to ride out these rough waters.
The Rams haven’t had people who are qualified in place for over several years, and now look at what we HAD!!! Now it seems (and the jury is still out)we have the “right” and qualified people in place. If what the pundants say are true, then the Rams are on the right track for sucess.
Well lets see how this move payoffs……Tampa was $40 million under the Salary Cap last year……Are we gonna get this team ready to sell or are we gonna build a winner?????
The other coaching moves I love….this one throws everything they have done so far in Question……I hope to see a winning product on the field……
Wasn’t the “Greatest Defense on Turf” during the Larry Marmie era?
